This trip was meant to be a much-needed respite from the city and I was pleasantly surprised that Masuya provided the perfect experience for the getaway. As we were English-speaking, we needed help to make some local calls and this service was provided with much grace and

We stayed at Masuya at the end of January for one night and had a magical, very authentic Japanese experience. Masuya is a relatively small ryokan, with lovely hosts and staff. The owners' & staff's English is a little variable, but they definitely understand when they don't

We spent time in many hotels during our trip to Nagoya, Gumma, Takayama and this hotel is on the top of the list. Service is amazing and staffs are willing to fulfill your needs. Everything was perfect! So much better than Takaragawa onsen we stayed 1 night earlier.

How old kids free to accommodate?
I was with adults on this trip. I did look on their website and the only mention to children was the fact that there is no capacity for extra beds in the room. I would email directly and ask specific questions of your concern. Give the children age and ask them how they charge for children.

Yes, I am sure they will accommodate your request. Depending on if you want to dine on the first night I would contact them on their website and communicate which nights you want to dine in for dinner as you will have your own private dinning room. They speak very limited English but they might use a translate service on their site.
