This hotel was great. The location can't be beat. It's within walking distance (about 30 minutes walk) from the Snow Monkey Park. The hotel, however, does offer a free shuttle to the park. Our room was beautiful and included a private onsen. It was super clean and spacious. Definitely a great stay. The best part was the meals. Every dish... More

We arrived early at Sekiya as the 1240hrs Nagaden bus we took from Nagano station dropped us off some 400m downhill. While it was not check-in time as yet, we happened to bump into the proprietress who was sweeping outside the front door. She promptly led us into the warmth and homeliness of her ryokan. While my wife checked us... More

Myself, my wife and my mother-in-law come to this ryokan for two nights in winter and two nights in summer. We have been doing so for the last 7 years. Why? Because it is our little luxury treat to ourselves when we come to Japan to visit the family. I see someone has rated this marvellous place as "average". I... More

Went here last February 14, 2015 and one thing that I noticed is how luxurious and sophisticated the place are. The private onset is so beautiful! It's a first time to try an outside onset with snows around. Truly relaxing feeling. Will definitely go back here!

This is an absolutely luxurious experience that you SHOULD treat yourself to at least once! From the private onsen on our own balcony to the three large private onsens, with the snow falling all around this was pleasure at a high level. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff at the main entrance. There, they had laid... More

This modern 'ryokan' definitely left us a very special memory! Here's what's so good about it: 1. They have 3 private onsen: a bamboo circle tub, a rock onsen and a wooden onsen. The private onsen fits 2-4 people, so whether you are a couple of a family, you can enjoy the onsen together privately. 2. All private onsen are... More

“Upper floor for views from your own private onsen in the room (not actually in all cases obviously room price is the guide).”

“When booking, inform the staff that this is your first visit to the area, they really do take care of you! And like I suggested in the review, do as the Romans and ask for the Japanese styled room(s). This is truly a real taste of the traditional Japanese style and will only enhance your stay and feeling for the establishment. And if you can drive there, do so. Taking a train and the taxis, buses takes away the feeling of discovering such a gem!”
