The first think to say is the staff (particularity those on reception) are fantastic, they are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, they made the stay really pleasant. The location is great as you can walk out of the door into the skiing area. As the resort is high up we had plenty of snow, at a time when other people we know in other resorts had none or little. The rooms are really nice and the TV had a french channel with all the prem and champions league footy on it, which was great for my boys). The only down side is the size of the rooms, unless you are all couples who can share a bed and small areas, don't book anywhere close to the limits (so if they state 4-6 persons, go with 4 (6 persons mean you have two sharing a sofa bed in the lounge and the only private space you will have is the single toilet!) We had 12 (5 adults and 7 kids across two apartments that they said could take "up to" 14 persons and we were on top of each other all week. The beds are comfortable and you can survive quite easily using the local shop, which has an amazing range of food and is only 4 doors to the left). They also have a wash room with two clothes washers and a tumble dryer, all free to use. We stayed in the 3rd week of Feb (school holiday time for both UK AND France), so the slopes were very busy, but manageable (don't waste your money buying the "fast track ski passes - as they are a waste of time - poorly managed at the lifts and most of the lifts don't even have a fast track!) All in all a really good stay in a convenient and clean apartment, The Staff are brilliant.

In Chalet des Neiges Les Arolles, you stay in clean apartments with good beds and clean linen. Apartments are rather limited in space (tiny bathrooms). In the official description, they count 2 persons too much (sofa bed in living room). Equipment in kitchen is very ok (rather new, everything you need, good condition). Blonde lady at reception is extremely friendly and welcome. However, Arcs 2000 in general is a rather artificial station, without charm or soul. Better consider one of the lower stations.

So I'll tell you the negatives, right up front. Whilst this apartment block is shown as being in the Arc2000 resort, its more like Arc1998. It's a one minute walk to a button lift that hauls you quickly up to the 2000 plateau where everything is. As well there is a lift in the building opposite the excellent (see seperate review) SkiSet rental shop that takes you up to the platform that goes to a small slope that goes DOWN to the main plateau. (you follow me?). This all works excellently well during the day and the location is STUNNING. We used L7, with a view over the Marmotte piste area. BUT, at night it's a pain. Firstly you either have to go up in the lift and slippy slide down the beginners slope next to the magic carpet tunnel OR you take your life into your hands and slide up next to the button. Once you've done that you can access the restaurants or the (brillant) bowling alley OR the even MORE brilliant Cabriolet lift to 1950. Then of course you have to get back and reverse the above. But seriously, don't let this put you off. The apartment is fantastic, the service team equally so. The resort is wonderful and we're going to book to go back next year. Same place, same room. But there are some more MINI gripes that I hope the management take note of and rectify. 1. There's only one functional shelf in the oven which is very limiting when the apartment accommodates twelve. 2. No washing machine in the unit. Would have been FAB. 3. Please build a bridge to the Cabriolet!! Just kidding on the last one, but please bear in mind I'm being ULTRA critical. The unit and the holiday were superb as was the service we received EVERYWHERE. The beds were fantastic, wonderful nights sleep. Oh and one more moan, the checkout procedure cost us about two hours in traffic. Grrr. See you next year.

Just returned from a week’s skiing in Les Arcs staying here as a party of 3 - 2 adults and 1, 11 year old. Residence Chalet des Neiges Arolles is a collection of what I think are privately owned apartments available to rent and are a group of 4 or 5 buildings below the main resort. The apartment we stayed in was big for a ski break; 2 bedrooms, a large kitchen/living area with balcony, shower room and separate bathroom. Lots of space plus all the kit you'd need. Kitchen had a full sized oven and dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster etc and all were in good working order. Tiled throughout the main areas, carpets in the bedrooms and all wood panelling in the Savoyard style throughout. All in all, very nice if just a little bit dated. I headed this review Arc 1980 partly because it seems as though this apartment was last furnished around that time! There is a pool, sauna and steam room but it looks as though these are free for anyone so they are quite busy. Our apartment had the capacity to sleep 6 adults but there was just the one loo. There's a decent boot room on the 1st floor with a good working, if slightly small, lift. There is no way to control room heating, there being no obvious heaters in the apartment and it did sometimes get a bit too warm, particularly late at night. One other small niggle, the balcony had not been cleared of snow, for quite a while judging by the 3 foot high block of ice on ours and this rendered it pretty unusable. I make these points because the place advertises itself as 4 stars? Whose criteria is anyone's guess but those expecting a 4 star experience akin to something they might find elsewhere could be a bit disappointed. The other reason for the title is the location. Not a massive big deal but slightly misleading is that the property isn't strictly in Arcs 2000 but a short button lift for skiers or a lift in another hotel for non-skiers from the main resort. It is something to consider though if you have lots of ski gear to carry in the mornings so parties of families with kids in ski school for example should think about the agro of getting them all to ski school in the morning and all back down the narrow and quite steep slope in the afternoon, particularly if there are still people coming up. It's not the sort of thing you want inexperienced skiers taking on after a hard day in ESF. Getting to the button is also a bit of an effort due to the build-up of snow. It's a small thing but it isn't quite the ski in - ski out location that some websites advertise. If you're eating out in the evening or need to nip to the supermarket it is quite a walk and there isn't an awful lot on the same level, just the one very small food place, a ski rental shop and a slightly raucous bar. For us it wasn't a big issue, just not quite what we expected. All in all this was a good value place to stay and Les Arcs is a great ski area. If true ski in - ski out is what you're after or you want to be right in the middle of everything then this isn't quite what you're looking for.

Basic and very very tired accommodation for the price paid. We were in a 10-12 person apartment. Kitchen equipment tired, mismatched and sticky. Kitchen area very small with limited work surfaces. Our morning bread order was delivered to the wrong apartment on the first morning and reception rudely denied receiving the order from us, until they found it outside the wrong apartment. We self catered and had to have our apartment inspected before our €500 deposit could be refunded on departure. Very unhelpful regarding car parking. Noticed that French guests were just handing over keys on enquiring why they were not having their accommodation inspected we were told by the reception staff that the English were filthy !!! We handed our feedback form to reception. A member of staff read it then tore it up and threw it in the bin. The heating was excessive and couldn’t be controlled. We had to leave outside doors open to get cooler air in the apartment even though it was -15C outside. Our apartment was next to the drag lift slope which was used by drunk pedestrians at night to access the lower part of the resort as the pedestrian lift was out of order for the majority of our stay. So there was shouting and screaming from midnight to about 3am and then at first light the piste maker was up and down making noise. We all ended up with sore throats and coughs due to the dryness of the heating. Definitely treated as second class citizens for being English. We would return to the resort as skiing is excellent but we would not stay at this accommodation ever again.

Dear Zoe1968_12 Thank you so much for your comment and we are really surprised about your comment. The fact is that the control of the apartments is for all our guest, not only for English guest. The fact is that sometimes we make the check of the apartment on friday evening. We cannot do all the check on saturday morning. That's why you must see that some clients come and only put the key on the desk. If you want to contact us for more info please contact us
