Firstly, remember this is a studies centre/lodge, not a four star hotel, don't expect luxury bedrooms.
We were the first group (20) staying since lockdown and the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was self service and set you up for the day. Evening meal was 3 course and sometimes a little slow, but this will surely improve with time. Only criticism was all desserts were sweet, cheese and biscuits would be nice!
Fantastic location and views, with a terrace and bar for pre dinner drinks. A shame no access without steps, a slope would be helpful for wheelchairs etc.
We've already made a booking for next year.

What a beautiful setting. We had a lovely large room overlooking the valley. What a fantastic view from our bedroom window.
The meals were of a good standard and the staff were always very obliging. Since returning home I have already recommended Plas tan y bwlch to my friends.

There is no tearoom here anymore. The staff seemed surprised to be asked. The entry needs updating as it is misleading and a big disappointment for walkers.
Overall impression is a lack of money, with signposts in poor condition and paths blocked by fallen trees. Lovely peaceful spot though.

Very Basic and no café
Rooms not great. No TV and bathroom was small . No where to hand wet towels or shelf for toiletries
Kettle had to boil on floor as no socket near table which was fixed. All fire doors propped open both morning and night.. window could only be opened fraction very stuffy.. will not stay again.. disappointed ☹️

We stayed for 3 nights and fell in love with the place, I mean, it’s absolutely stunning, the views are incredible, the room was next level…… the gardens were lush and verdant, there is a steam train that passes by and you can hear and smell it! Beds were like sleeping inside a cloud. Breakfast was abundant and stress free. The staff were AMAZING, so friendly and fun and accommodating. It’s such a quirky yet historic building. We will definitely go back!

Lovely place to stay, although i would not recommend if you want all the gadgets, rooms are basic, no TV (but we don't have a tv at home) If you want a peaceful and beautiful place then this is perfect for you. Beds very comfortable.
Staff all very friendly, the room and building, one of the cleanest i have ever stayed in. Breakfast is in a lovely large room with freshly hot food, and continental breakfast, and plenty of it. All beverages including fresh coffee (massive plus from me). All of this in the heart of Snowdonia. Highly recommend.

We arrived late and the staff were very helpful in showing us our room. Parking was not easy and the lack of lighting in the car park didn’t make it easy to see any spaces. The external work , which is really needed, has taken a number of the parking spaces out of commission. The lack of signage does make it difficult to find the reception in the dark , but the receptionist was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay . The room had a stunning view but was on the small side and in need of refurbishment . However the shower was really good and there is plenty of hot water . We had an issue with our room that the staff tried very hard to but were unable to resolve .Unfortunately that meant we had to find alternative accommodation. Despite its grandeur exterior this is not a hotel , it is a training centre in need of investment and some TLC , it is more of up market hostel and as long as you go with that thought you will not be disappointed. The gardens are stunning if not a bit wild but you can see that they were once spectacular

We came for the walks and the cafe. The walks are beautiful, but very overgrown and in need of a bit of love. The cafe was not open and there was no sign of anyone to ask for information. We met another family walking as we were leaving who were there for the cafe too.
