The food was really good, breakfast and dinner was included. The city is very quiet at night. Great place! One disadvantage: the bed was not really comfortable, so don't stay longer than 1 night. Hot spring tub in town was olso excellent. Enjoy.

This Ryokan provides wonderful accommodation and food in a world heritage listed village. Our room was adjacent to the pond fed by the irrigation channel and the sound of water made the room perfect. While toilets and bath were shared they were spotless and more than adequate. We arrived early and were welcomed and let into our room straight away...

We spent our anniversary night at Koemon, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The hostess graciously allowed us to store our bags at Koemon both several hours before check-in, and several hours after check-out, and we enjoyed talking with her both times. The room was spacious, the ofuro was incredibly hot and enjoyable (no lukewarm ofuros at Koemon!), and...

We decided to stay one night at this gassho zukuri guest house to experience the traditional way of living in Japan. Overall, the experience was impressive. Some were expected and some were surprises. I read blogger comments and some of them said the host was not very forthcoming. They just did what they need to fulfil and that's it. I...

I have stayed here before... And this was my second visit to the village and this guest house. I can speak a little Japanese so I have no problem communicating with the owner's daughter who checked us in. This guest house is a family owned business. The owner would come and joined the guests after we finished our meal, to...

We arrived around 9.30am from an early morning bus from Kanazawa. To our pleasant surprise, the rooms were ready for us. There were 10 of us, 6 adults, 2 teens and 2 kids and we had booked 4 rooms. This Minshuku has 5 rooms in total. The 10 of us had the whole place to ourselves as the fifth room...

We were here on Christmas Eve. Koemon was recommended to us by a friend and we managed to make reservation 6 months before we came to Shirakawa-go. Staying in the Gassho and sleeping on the Tatami was a new experience to us, especially in the very cold weather. The service provided was very good. Once we reached the Gassho, the...

Shirakawa is known for the gassho zukuri houses, part of Unesco and when in Japan you get a chance to sleep inone of these farmhouses. As a plus you have the village for yourself when the tour buses are gone and that makes a difference in the atmosphere of the village. During the day you see more nikons, canons ad...

Lovely place, it's a traditional house in Shirakawa-go, Therefore it's charming and cozy. Food is lovely, high quality traditional Japanese food. Price a bit high. Service very bad. Felt like crap. The lady was not very nice with me, I could sense that she did her job as it was her duty not welcoming at all. Would not come again,...

My friends and I have spent a night in the house to experience old Japanese life style. Of course, this house impress us a lot. Though house owner speak only little English but they are very helpful. They welcomed us with village map and information. As known that shirakawa village is full of snow, the house provides all guests with...
