Clean new facilities, friendly helpful staff, excellent location (walking distance to Happo and Sakka). Didn't want to leave Hakuba.

After staying at Penke 4 years ago, I have come back every year since.
The rooms is great which they are constantly upgrading, the heating is great and lots or room and storage so you don't feel like you're living out of your suitcase.

Thanks for your message, the cost of the trains to Nagano from Narita via Ueno is 10,500 yen and then the bus from Nagano to Hakuba is 1,600 yen so total travel cost would be around 12,000 yen where the Nagano Snow Shuttle costs 9,000 yen. You will probably arrive into Hakuba earlier catching the trains if you arrive during the day before 5pm but you don't have to worry about connections with the Nagano Snow Shuttle you can just sit and relax.
