Okay so it was a little further away than I expected but it was ski in ski out which was fantastic. Mama San and Koichi and the young lad helping out were fantastic. Papa san was lovely also but we did not see him a lot.If you are only a beginner ski, don't go and hire your gear...get it off...

Yet again Hotel Kuraya shined like a diamond. 3am arrival through heavy snow and our rooms where warmed and waiting. Momason made sure that breakfast was available when we emerged after our 22 hour trip from Perth Australia, and Luke organized ski hire, though first day was recovery day which did include Jalapeno Margaritas at Stephen Mexican for lunch. Dinner...

Absolutely loved my stay here. Very friendly and helpful family run hotel. Excellent food. Good value. Clean. Ski in ski out. Great atmosphere. The ski resort is also fantastic. Definitely recommend this to people as a value packed. The onsen is just awesome after skiing all day. Coming back next year!!

This hotel ticks all of the boxes for our annual family ski holiday. We love staying with this lovely Japanese family who own and manage the hotel, we like the traditional room, bedding and onsen and the home cooked meals. The hotel itself is right on the snow and close one of the main bus stops. They even hire out...

Did I miss something? Wow, so many excellent reviews but nobody seems to have noticed what I did. Old and run-down with ancient decor and furniture, monotonous food and nowhere to kick back. At the end of the day, you sit on your futon or `relax` in the cafeteria-style dining room, lit by 100-watt globes. But not for too long,...

Had two night stays with breakfast and dinner included. Midori-san, Kochi-san, Mama-san and Papa-san made this small hotel into a welcome respite from the cold outside. Kochi-San kindly gave us a lift from Hakuba station to their hotel. The ski rentals and ski lift passes could be purchased directly from them at a lower price than outside rates. The room...

Arrived in Hakuba on the train and was picked up by Koichi who took us back to the hotel. We traveled as a group of 4 adults and 2 children. We were given the three western style rooms on the third floor, giving us the whole floor to ourselves. The rooms were warm and comfortable, though not huge but this...

We stayed at Kuraya for 8 days in February, 2015. We went there to visit our daughter and ski. The owners of Kuraya, Koeichi, mama san, papa san and Midorie were the friendliest and most thoughtful people who provided home style family service. Nothing was too much for them and the facilities were fantastic, if you like Japanese style futons...

Again Kuraya excels. Skied the valley for 2 weeks before we hit Tokyo for a week over Jan - Feb. Arrived from Hanada early in the morning by the Chuo Taxi ( www.chuotaxi.co.jp/ ) Y140 each. to the cottage room with the heaters on. Late breakfast and organised gear hire with Koichi (in house hire) watched as he peeled the...
