Nice Hotel with great staff. Food was delicious. It is a bit of a walk from the town centre especially in deep snow. Would be nice if the offered a shuttle to the walkway that takes you to the ski area base as it is quite a distance from the hotel.

This is my second review for Kawamotoya. We had a great experience when we stayed three years ago and thought we'll come back again. This time round, the rooms are still the same - spacious and comfortable, there's still a relatively good onsen and yukatas (robes) are still provided. However a few things stood out as different - the daily... More

I stayed here with my partner and 13 other friends for an 8 day ski trip. Staff- are very friendly and helpful. Although... There was one Aussie waitress who had a terrible cough and lo and behold 10 out of the 15 of us developed a terrible cough. Location- probably as far down the hill from the slopes as you... More

Stayed here for 4 nights to ski in hikage and have to say love the ryokan, the town and it's friendly staff. Breakfast was good with many choices and all staff speak proper English. Originally was afraid it's far from the ski base but not at all with also many restaurants nearby. Will come back here again next time for... More

Great place to stay if you plan to ski or snowboard in Nozawa onsen! 旅館からリフトまでちょっと遠いけどいい旅館です! the ryokan is a little far from the lifts but it is nit a big deal. Wouldn't mind staying there again if I visit Nozawa in the future.

My family of 5 booked 2 rooms for 4nights as we wanted to ski in NazawaOnsen. We had a corner room and a regular room. 401 was a larger corner unit with lovely views of the valley and the ranges. Good size rooms and clean. The staff were lovely and friendly. Cheerful Aussies' , Canadian, English and Japanese team serving... More

My partner and I stayed at Kawamotoya for 6 nights in December 2014 for a ski trip. We were looking for Ryokan-style accommodation that was comfortable and affordable, and traditional but still with some Western amenities. We definitely made the right choice! The staff at Kawamotoya were incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, and the onsen was sublime... More

We went for a skiing trip to NozawaOnsen and stayed at Kawamotoya for 6 nights. Upon arrival, staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the 5th floor with a lovely view of the mountains that greeted us every morning. Most accommodations there have shared bathrooms… paying extra for the room with private bath/toilet was really worth it.... More

We were meant to stay here for 9 nights, but actually only stayed for 8. We booked 6 nights through Expedia (it was cheaper than booking direct) and 3 nights direct with the hotel.
