Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the staff were excellent, had excellent english and couldn't have been more helpful. The property is dated but still has great charm and is very clean and well maintained. As the name suggests the views are fantastic - even from the mens onsen, to sit and soak while watching the sunset over the snow...

Gorgeous view of the ski mountain right from our window. Only one English speaking staff but we were able to communicate with the rest through friendly nods and sign language. Good breakfast and while the dinner wasn't cheap, it was certainly filling and delicious - overall worth the price. Slightly further away from the main entrance of the ski resort...

The View is a clean, comfortable, conveniently located hotel in Nozawaonsen. We stayed there January 2016 on our first visit and have re-booked for 2017. It’s not a new building, however was clean and less than a five minute walk to the centre of town. The staff were VERY helpful in suggesting/arranging restaurants. The included breakfast was basic but satisfying...

Mixed feelings. Very helpful and friendly japanese staff who made our stay a positive experience. Also a great onsen and good central location. But this is a very old and tatty hotel that i don't think is worth the money as this place isn't cheap. The whole place needs re-decorating as it's very tired...scuzzy carpets, paintwork, tiling etc. I hope...

This hotel is located within walking distance to one small chair lift, via quite a narrow and at times icey pathway. We chose to rent our gear from a store at the base of the gondola which had ski/boot storing facilities so we walked through the town every morning and up to the gondola (this may be preferrable with smaller...

Stayed at Nozawa View with a couple of friends for our last ski trip. The rooms we stayed in were slightly old, but clean and spacious. The futons were comfortable, and the staff would place a large thermos of hot green tea for us in the room every day. There's a storage area on the first floor for ski boots...

We were bumped here from another place but found the staff at Shimataya to be very welcoming. Its a basic Japanese ski lodge with Onsen for the traditional experience. We had tatami mats and our own toilet and basin. There is a boot storage room at reception but it is never warm so we stowed our gear at ski hire...

This is my first visit to Nozawa and stayed at The View Shimataya. The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful. Even though I cannot speak and Japanese I was able to understand and communicate with the staff very well. The people in Nozawa village was so polite and willing to help strangers who need help at any time....

We stayed here for 7 nights as part of a big group in Feb/March 2014 and it was a fantastic experience. We had the Japanese deluxe room on the 5th floor and it was very large and comfortable with an AMAZING view. The bathroom was small but had everything required, and the decor was a bit dated but everything was...

I stayed at Nozawa View Hotel Shimataya for a week in February 2014 with a group of eight. We found the hosts to be very welcoming and willing to help with any of our requests.
