As the other review mentioned, this place is hard to find as you enter from a narrow side street. Enter from the side street off the main drag in Tsuwano, as it's bigger than the sidewalk-sized street that runs next to the ryokan (where I damaged my rental car!!!).

The dinner and breakfast I had was one of the best deals I've had in traveling 15 years in Japan. Because the variety and quality of dishes was equivalent to a 15,000-25,000 yen/night ryokan, when I paid the price of a night at a minshuku.

The owner didn't speak much English but she was very helpful and considerate, asking me at one point if I ate raw fish. Of course, suki sashimi! What would be a ryokan meal without it?

Location is good as it's close to most the main attractions in Tsuwano. All in all, a very traditional ryokan experience for a very reasonable price.

Tsuwano is a lovely little town. If you choose to stay then this Ryokan will not disappoint. The only hassle is locating it as there is no signage that provides you with assistance. However once there the experience is most positive. The traditional rooms are great, very comfortable. The ryokan is so serene. Dinner and breakfast are provided. They are very traditional but its a great experience. My wife and I stayed for two nights and the owner provided us with some bread with breakfast, concerned that we might be struggling with the food. This was most considerate. She also looked after our luggage after we checked out. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. One of her staff found us walking from the train station and escorted us to the ryokan. She had already finished work for the day and missed the next train. More
