We were here on our way from kyoto to Shirakawa go, this hotel is in secluded area. However the room is large with set of sofa, but bathroom is small like in dormitory. You can wear yukata (a traditional japanese clothes) since they provided for the guest and experience onsen which is is a must. Breakfast menu is in Japanese...

This hotel is literally located in the middle of nowhere. Nothing around to walk to however is a good comfortable stop over on your way out to other destinations. The hotel itself is a bit old but feels cosy and welcoming. Staff are nice and attentive. Traditional food is good, other food is ok. We arrived on a day where...

I was a little worried when we arrived at the hotel, as it does look somewhat dated. The rooms are a little dated as well, but everything is in great shape. True to every hotel bed we experienced in Japan, the western-style beds at this hotel were hard as a rock. Our western-style room had a separate tatami mat area...

This hotel is very far away from most of the things. There are nothing around, only a small 7-11 after about 5-10 min walk. I guess most people choose this hotel for the hot spring. There are indoor and outdoor hotspring. My husband enjoyed them very much. The rooms are big for Japanese standard. We opened the window at night...

Large hotel in the mountains and forests. With luck the Mt. Fuji can be seen from the rooms on the higher floors (although it is far away). One can choose for a Western room (with wonderfull beds) or a Japanes Ryokan type room. Both are spacious, as are the bath rooms. Great breakfast. Mainly visited by tourists. Probaly the best...

As we age, there is a time when a Japanese bed makes it impossible to get down, let alone back up off the floor. Many times, their interpretation of western bed solves the problem fully. This hotel is what many of us would consider a summer or winter resort area with good facilities and a good onsen (hot springs). It...

The ryokan is a bit old, but the room is spacious. It has both outdoor and indoor onsen open until 1 am. A lot of Taiwan & Hong Kong group use this hotel, try to avoid their dining and departure time.

Stayed here during November 2012 whilst visiting the Hakushu distillery. Mother-in-law chose this hotel knowing that I have an interest in Astronomy. You see, the hotel has on the roof an observatory dome! For one night we were blessed with perfectly clear skies. A sizeable Meade telescope granted superb views of Jupiter and her four largest moons, the Horse-head Nebula...
