The hotel is located in a perfekt setting overlooking lake lugano. Rooms are dated, bathrooms are small and showers offer only broken showercurtains. No climate controll, so on hot days, you will not find a cool night. The food is overpriced and very poorly presentet. Ceasar Salad vor CHF19.50 with 5 pieces of small chicken, 8 leaves of iceberg, some way to thick cut parmesan, that was about it. The iceberg salat was half rotten.... not a pretty site. The pool was closed due to water shortage and since there was no air condioning, the only option was to have all windows open at night. Not a problem, but when a wedding party shows up the same evening, you can imagine the peace and quietness you get for the nigt. People where talking at 3AM still on the balconies... Never ever again. The hotel ist an old bunker, that needs a remodel and some improvments. Service is OK, if you can get thier attention, but they are very poorly trained and most students. You get what you pay...…
Nice hotel located on top of a mountain with an incredible view! Very helpful staff, great menu card with good choice for vegetarians. Our dog was welcomed everywhere in the hotel, super place to start walks just behind the hotel (big forest). Very good starting point for hiking trips. If you are looking to chill out, that’s the place to be. Unfortunately we did not use the spa facilities, but definitely worth checking out.
My friend her dog and I spent three wonderful days at this hotel. Although its a bit dated in parts we had all the amenities for a very relaxing time. Every member of staff we came into contact with were helpful happy and accommodating. I had one of the best massages ever. The restaurant food in the hotel could do with a bit of a make over. But the restaurant by the cable car was absolutely fantastic. Over all a lovely place in the most beautiful spot with fantastic views and lots to do.
We’ve stayed at this hotel 5 times now, each time drawn by the fantastic view over Lake Lugano and the mountains. I would still give it a 3-star for that reason: the view! But the facilities itself are not worth more than two stars! Unfortunately, the quality of the hotel has gone down considerably since our first visit. The dining experience used to be top notch, but now it is rather mediocre. The chef has clearly changed! Breakfast was definitely nothing like it used to be: no fresh fruit salad, no muesli and only store-bought little yoghurt cups, nothing hot at all except for eggs you had to boil yourself, no fresh juice even - only a watered down version of Tang. Extremely disappointing! NOT worth the rating they seem to have given themselves! As for the service, it too was very mediocre. We were celebrating a very big anniversary and two days before, we asked for a specific table but reservations were not permitted! Consequently we booked at the nearby (only 1 km from the hotel) funicular restaurant, which has the same view, the same wine at HALF the price, very good food and very friendly service! On our first night we were seated by the terrace door - it was raining and there was no seating on the terrace. Every time we moved our arms, the automatic doors next to us opened! Good grief! Another thing we found amazing and which I think has changed since the last time we were there: there is no proper bar!!! On our second evening we came down for a pre-dinner drink - 2 couples - and we were given a seat by the entrance of the restaurant, all 4 of us on a bench, next up each other! Very bizarre! People walked by us constantly! There are a few basically unused rooms upstairs, a ‘library’ and a ‘pool room’, which could easily be turned into a bar! This is NOT four-star as the hotel claims to be! This is COVID time, and di there were restrictions: no more than 10 people in the pool at a time! Ha!!! No one checked! It was much too crowded! All in all, the hotel is in VERY dire need of a facelift! The rooms are furnished à la IKEA (not only the rooms! The restaurant glasses and lampshades were from Ikea too!!! This is so not 4-star!!!). I’ve been 5 times now - no more! Do something to spruce things up is my recommendation!! …
While in Europe we went on a 3-day car trip through extreme southern Switzerland and northern Italy. We had a 2-night stay at the Hotel Serpiano (halfway up a mountain, overlooking Lake Lugano, with a spectacular view overlooking Lago di Lugano, with Lugano in the distance). The hotel has great facilities: a pool, sauna, and—for the first time ever—I had a massage. t’was great! There are a few good hikes (1-2 hours) around the mountain, and there are a couple of places to rest and enjoy food and a cold one. We had breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. The menu at the hotel is good… mostly local recipes, prepared well.
First thing first, hotel is on top of a mountain which gives an excellent view around. Rooms were clean. Complementary breakfast (Continental) was good. Ideal place to stay from where you can travel to Italy.
I start with the postive points: - The staff of the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The take all the time you need. - The view from the lake view rooms are amazing. - We had read from the reviews that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so we prepared ourselves for a couple of days of hanging around the garden and the pool. But there is so much to do in this area, but you need a car to get around easily. Now the negative points: - The rooms were not clean, there was dust all over the room. The bed sheets had holes in them. Above that the smell in the room was very bad when we entered it. It smelled like they had used dirty mops to clean the floor. They also didn't clean the floor on the second day. Because everything that was dropped was still there after cleaning. Overall the room seems very outdated and desperately needs an update and a good cleaning. - Breakfast was very basic and not that much variety, except for the coffee and the dishes didn't smell fresh sometimes. I give a rating of 3 stars, because the nice staff and the great view made up a lot.…
The localization is amazing, but in the middle of nowhere, so it’s hard and take time to leave the hotel and walk around the city. The service is normal too. Nothing special. But the place is well cleaned and there’s no worries regarding that. The only complain is the restaurant: few people to handle a lot of costumers. We had an employee with us that could not explain well the changes my wife could do on her menu and we had a real big increase in the receipt at the end. They also forgot our desserts and we had to wait a long time for it. But the food is pretty nice. We recommend. And if you are looking for a place to hide from the madness of the cities and take a rest, this would be the right place!
A bucolic place, suitable for those seeking an environment to rest. Friendly staff, clean surroundings and common areas in good condition. Simple apartments, without air conditioning, motivating discomfort in periods of very hot, like the occasion of my lodging.
Visited Switzerland for the first time this April 2019 and decided to visit the Italian region of Switzerland and fell in love with Lake Lugano. I have contacted a few hotel/accommodation around the region however Hotel Serpiano stood out due to its location and stunning views. The photo's seen online of Hotel Serpiano are stunning however getting to see the views in person blew my mind. We did not have the best weather during our stay as it was cloudy and rainy. However, on the day we checked out the sun decided to show up revealing the most amazing view of Lake Lugano, Morcote and Swiss Alps all in one. The surroundings were quiet and all you can hear was the birds chirping. Hotel Serpiano is perfectly situated on top of Monte San Giorgio away from the hustle and bustle. Perfect for travellers who would love to relax and unwind. Note: Did you know that Monte San Giorgio was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003 If you are planning to visit the Ticino Region of Switzerland make sure to check out Hotel Serpiano as the views are beyond your imagination.…
