We spent a seniors holiday week at the Hotel Serpiano from 13 to 20 September 2024 with 32 people. The outbound journey by car from Meride to the hotel is quite adventurous because of the narrow road, especially if you have to cross with oncoming vehicles. Although our chauffeur mastered every situation confidently, many of our seniors were each happy to have completed this segment. The view from the hotel of Lake Lugano and half of Ticino is overwhelming. However, a veritable blow-dry storm contributed to the clear weather, so the aerial cable car had to stop operating for four days, forcing us to change our programs. Our seniors, who can sometimes be quite critical, were very happy with the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food (threesome to the night) good, the morning meal rich. People who are no longer so good on foot were driven to the aerial cable car for a small fee and picked up again from there. We were allowed to use a separate room for the next day's information. The location of the hotel is very suitable for excursions in the Sottoceneri. The main reason why we chose Hotel Serpiano for our holiday week was, in addition to the fantastic views and wellness facilities, the moderate price for the accommodation.

We have been returning periodically to the Serpiano Hotel for quite a few years.
What a pretty setting, what magnificent views of the mountains, the lake, the surrounding fields, it's truly wonderful. It is possible to descend to the edge of the lake, demanding descents, or to hike on the surrounding paths or up to Mount San Giorgio (those who do this climb will remember it for a long time!).
In the rooms located in the spa and swimming pool area where we are now used to going, we will miss the simple frosted glass separation which is between each room. The penultimate time we experienced a guest snoring at night on the balcony. Perhaps his wife no longer wanted him to sleep in the bedroom? There are also always indelicate people who talk loudly early in the morning on their terrace, and everyone benefits from it.
Otherwise we appreciated the comfort of the beds, the swimming pool and the cuisine offered in the evening: delicious dishes, but without pork (?).
The staff is friendly, friendly, helpful, perfect.
A serious downside about breakfast: the so-called grapefruit or orange juices are undrinkable, chemical drinks not real juice! As for coffee, there is better, really better. And we were shocked by the behavior of certain groups arriving by bus, during breakfast: we took several butters on the table, several drinks, bread, croissants and left 3/4. Not to mention the state of the tables. Damage.
That said, thank you to the entire hotel team, we enjoy coming there and coming back.

Hotel: in need of TLC. The rooms are outdated, but functional. We got a little room on the side wing, but still had the view of the mountains and even some lake. The beds were ok. The bathroom also outdated, but satisfactory.
SPA area: sauna, steam bath, relaxation room, massage room, indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Robes are extra and cost 10CHF. Towels for SPA are available in rooms only. For us the jacuzzi was the highlight, a very relaxing feature.
Restaurant (dinner): very very impressed. Bread basket with olive bread was fantastic to tamper our hunger initially. For mains we got Ossobucco and Steak and both dishes were very well executed. The cheese board (Menu Ticino) was bigger than expected and we ended up sharing (it was a very large 1-person portion). The dessert that came in Menu Ticino was mistaken, but quickly corrected when we brought it to the attention of the waiter. Service a little slow.
Restaurant (breakfast): very disappointed. The coffee is not great. Porridge is cold and has a ton of sugar in it. Cereal selection not bad. The meats were ok. Cheeses not great. Bread selection good. Loads of fruit, for those who eat it. Scrambled eggs not available at the buffet.
Overall a pleasant stay but: the hotel was not full and a room upgrade would have been nice. Location is quite remote and might be a stressful drive to unsure drivers. Plenty of parking spaces. Complimentary water in room at arrival. Average.

Excellent location for company conventions. Very well-kept and equipped internal spaces and very practical external spaces for doing work in small groups. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breath-taking view. Exquisite food. Fair price.

Not terrible ! We received a gift voucher24 for 2 nights and that was enough for us. Nothing incredible, hotel lost in the middle of the forest, forced to drive 20 minutes to find civilization. Cordial arrival by the host, no welcome cocktail as stipulated in our gift voucher. Cleaning done "basically" in the room. Dead bugs under the bed and in the TV cabinet. Room in need of updating, poorly soundproofed, very poor quality bedding. The same goes for the spa which has had its day. The meals were ok, we ate well. Downside on breakfast... Not much and pre-cooked croissants from Migros. When we left we received the initially "welcome" bottle as it was out of Prosecco we received a bottle of red... to taste.

But what a welcome and a breathtaking view. A little gem surrounded by nature. Very friendly staff, small appetizers offered by surprise during the aperitif, delicious meal served on the terrace and a live saxophonist. Thank you for a wonderful weekend. Unanimously the six of us will return ❤️

The hotel is located in a perfekt setting overlooking lake lugano. Rooms are dated, bathrooms are small and showers offer only broken showercurtains. No climate controll, so on hot days, you will not find a cool night. The food is overpriced and very poorly presentet. Ceasar Salad vor CHF19.50 with 5 pieces of small chicken, 8 leaves of iceberg, some way to thick cut parmesan, that was about it. The iceberg salat was half rotten.... not a pretty site. The pool was closed due to water shortage and since there was no air condioning, the only option was to have all windows open at night. Not a problem, but when a wedding party shows up the same evening, you can imagine the peace and quietness you get for the nigt. People where talking at 3AM still on the balconies... Never ever again. The hotel ist an old bunker, that needs a remodel and some improvments. Service is OK, if you can get thier attention, but they are very poorly trained and most students. You get what you pay...

The hotel is very quiet and beautifully situated in the middle of nature. A walk up Monte San Giorgio is definitely worth it, especially because of the phenomenal view. The hotel was not fully booked during our stay and that certainly contributed to our positive impression. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The reception even spoke Swiss German. We were able to relax and unwind wonderfully in the wellness area after the day trips. The comfort room was very nicely furnished and you could enjoy the sunset on the balcony. The beds are good and we slept well. The room was always clean. The restaurant is very stylishly furnished and you feel comfortable. The breakfast buffet was extensive and was always replenished. Only the cheese selection is very modest. The service was very friendly and accommodating. We were always able to eat right by the window with a view of the mountains. We would love to come back.

My wife received a gift certificate for a two-night stay at this property. The staff at the reception is very friendly (check-in was simple and kind, as was Check-out). Also friendly staff at the restaurant where we had dinner the first night (good food too). Good and varied breakfast, while the staff could be more friendly. The structure would need a restiling, the complex in fact shows all its 70s style. Our room was very small and although well maintained, showed its age. The area is very quiet and the view of Lake Ceresio is phenomenal.

For a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ hotel it was beautiful. The view was breathtaking, unfortunately we had fog and could not see so much. 🌫️🌫️ The staff was very nice, accommodating and attentive. 🛎️ On my birthday we all congratulated and we got a free drink without mentioning my birthday. 🥂✨ The food was also particularly good. The choice was very wide, for vegetarians/vegans as well as meat eaters. 🥗🍴
From the outside, the hotel is unfortunately not as beautiful as from the inside, it is not the latest. 🏨
