The breath taking views of the glacier is not the only thing thats impressive with this hotel in the Swiss Alps. Accessed only either by cable car or an hour hike this is truly a small mountain hotel in the very big Alps. Excellent spot for hiking. Fantastic food (they will even arrange a picnic pack for you to take...

We stayed here for just one night but - the views - absolutely breathtaking. I could not go to bed that night even after a few drinks and our friends had retired for the night. I stood in the upstairs hallway and looked out the window as the moon was rising over the mountains. Some young people in the youth...

This pension is not fancy but why would you want that when the little town of Gimmelwald is such a wonder. We had a double room without bath that was cozy and had a marvelous view. The price was reasonable. Breakfast was very good. The staff very helpful. (I needed to visit a doctor while there and they gave a...

Wife and I stayed here over NYE for 3 nights. It was the most expensive place we stayed during our trip to Switzerland. This included hotels such as Raddison Blu, Le Meridien, Four Points by Sheraton. But to be fair, most places on Bernese Oberland required a minimum 1 week stay during the time we were there. This place was...

We stayed for 3 nights in mid-September, by accident, after a mess up with our intended booking. What a happy mistake it was. We had our two young children and the staff were very accommodating of the odd food requests and glasses of milk and were friendly and easy going throughout with some good laughs and conversation! The room was...

Gimmelwald is simply magical. Slow down and take in the culture, beauty, and history of this tiny village nestled high in the mountains. It is a journey to get there, but that's part of what is so great about it. Pension Gimmelwald was laid back and had a fun yet cozy atmosphere. The beer (they make their own!) and fondue...

You can't find a more beautiful setting! Gimmelwald itself if so quaint and picturesque, Pension Gimmelwald fits right in. My husband and I took our 1st trip to Europe in late Aug/early Sept of 2014. We ended here and it was great. The room was simple but adequate. (And who really spends much time in their room when visiting the...

Had a magic time here. From the (terrifying!) cable car up and seeing the Pension for the first time... it was a special moment for me. I stayed in the dorm which was really cosy and comfortable. It was a quiet atmosphere there so early rising for hikes was easy - that's one of the reasons I went for this...

We spent one night at pension gimmelwald when hiking through in early September. Although not fancy, the mountain hotel is cozy and charming and in the most beautiful setting. We had a room with shared bath (all very clean) but they also have rooms with private bath. Only FYI is that walls are thin so you can hear others talking...

When we arrived we were ready to get out and explore but the previous occupants of the room had mistakenly taken the key. I felt sorry for the employee struggling to find another to replace it....none of the keys were marked and luckily he found one that worked at about key number 20 quite a while after we arrived. The...
