Arriving without a table reservation we were guided to the middle section of the pub where a mix of tables were arranged. With our backs to the log fire we were grateful to be accommodated and even more grateful when I was allowed to sample a couple of real ales I hadn't tried before. Settling at our table after a...

This was a lovely Inn for a two night winter break. There is plenty of character with exposed beams, log fires and very friendly staff. Our room was spacious and comfortable but being at the front, did have a lot of traffic noise in the early morning. The bathroom is quite small with a somewhat unusual layout but there was...

This is our third stay at The Angel Inn and the food, ambience and professional approach of the staff is second to none and never falters. They are attentive but never intrusive. Our stays have been in the winter and the hotel is always lovely and warm and welcoming to return to after a day sightseeing, Hats off to all...

I took my mother there for a break on a Sunday evening on 1 Feb. The welcome was great and staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and it was a pleasure to stay in them. It was very quiet, due to the time of year. The only gripe was that they had obviously been very busy...

Although I know this pretty village from a number of previous visits, this was the first time an opportunity had arisen to stay. Poring over the internet in early January I saw that The Angel was doing 2 nts of dinner, bed and breakfast for £300. That sort of clinched it. We arrived on Friday evening, were shown our room,...

Found this place about four months ago as I stop away from home 2/3 nights per week. The staff are fantastic and always at hand to help. The food is excellent and always well presented and guest ales compliment. The bedrooms are well equipped and beds extremely comfortable. This is an excellent home from home for me and this is...

What a beautiful inn! Lots of quirky features such as an indoor well and a little courtyard with neat raised beds of fruit and vegetables. Loads of character with beams, exposed brickwork and fires and a wonderful welcoming atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, greeting and waiting upon us and with a party of 10 for a...

We frequently need an overnight stop in Essex and were delighted with our stay at the Angel. Good parking, a warm. clean. high quality room, so so good breakfast and very friendly staff. Particularly good feature is that one can access your room without going into the bars

We visited between Christmas and New Year. On arrival we were welcomed and shown to our room. As others have said the rooms reflect the age of the building and retain a lot of character without loss of comfort. It was bitterly cold outside but the rooms heated very well and our every need was catered for. The food was...
