I stayed in the Cowboy cabin for three nights at the end of June and had a great time! I had never been to this part of SK and was amazed at the scenery in my own province. The ranch is beautiful and I loved watching the sunset, especially one night when several deer came to graze. I went horseback riding on my first day, which was really fun. I hadn’t been on a horse for about 20 years so was slightly apprehensive, but it went great. Brinn was slow and steady and that worked perfect for me. The views from the cliffs following the Kinnikiick Trail were beautiful. The cowboy cabin has everything you need and is very private. I liked that it had a covered deck, but also a picnic table beside it if you wanted to be a bit more out in the open. Everyone on the ranch was so nice and welcoming, including the newest puppy edition Cowboy who even walked me back to my cabin one night and then laid down outside the door. So sweet! I brought my own food so did not eat at the hall, but it looked and smelled great. The ranch is in a great location and I went to Fort Walsh one day and hiked the hidden conglomerate cliffs and visited the (non-hidden) conglomerate cliffs viewpoint another. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to visit again.
Thanks!

In July, we visited the Reesor Ranch for the first time. The location, the trail ride and the ambiance were all superb!. We stayed for supper and enjoyed good company with other guests and felt very welcome by our hosts, Theresa, Scott and Jason. The steak was done to perfection and the meal was probably the best we had on our 2-week vacation. There was a warmth and openness within the hosts. After supper, Scott recited cowboy poetry when guests prodded him to do so.. worth the price of admission in itself. As we were about to leave, we shared a little bit about our day with Scott. He listened reflectively as we shared our story about discovering the homestead of my wife's family, and he had affirming words for us. We appreciated Scott; there was a brotherly-ness about the man. Paul and Bev

Dear Scott & Theresa,

We want to thank you for your hospitality and kindness.  Jin and I enjoyed our time at your ranch!  The BBQ steak at supper time and the pancake breakfast the following morning were delicious.  We were mesmerized by the Cowboy poems and stories you entertained us with during those meals. The starry night sky and the sunshine the next day were a bonus.  Staying for a night in your historical home was like going back in time.  Riding horses was a first-time experience for Jin!  I had not gone riding for many years.  It was nice to get back into the saddle. We recommend that others will also enjoy their time at your ranch.  Sincerely,
Daniel and Jin

A very nice vacation for someone looking for a slower pace. The accommodations are rustic looking, but with modern convinces giving you that authentic feel in comfort. The option to cook or eat at the ranch hall was a great option and the food was very tasty and plentiful. Make sure if you are supplying your own food you plan well as the ranch is a bit remote. The activities are basically hiking, a quad tour, or some horse tours. The location of the ranch makes these very scenic and enjoyable. The staff were excellent horse people and good with our children to boot. The hosts are accommodating and always checking to ensure you are enjoying your stay. Though the ranch is a bit remote, its also a great staging area to explore the west block of the Saskatchewan side or the Alberta block of Cypress Hills park.

My room was the Keith and Helen Reesor room. Beautiful !!!! My own balcony. The home is yours to enjoy!!!! There wasn't anything lacking.. and everyone gives 110% to help you enjoy your stay.. I enjoyed steak dinners almost every evening. No disappointments on breakfast or dinner!!!!! And Scott Reesor will recite his own poems and those of others at both meals. All the wranglers are so knowledgeable about the history of Reesor Ranch and the tours, whether horse back trail ride or ATV's to point out buffalo wallows, or the natural vegetation, or the history of Fort Walsh, or the Comglomerate Rocks. and on and on. I urge anyone who wants to relax in a beautiful rustic vacation destination, this is the place to be.

We only stayed one night here and wish it was longer! The Reesor family is very warm and welcoming. We chose the Bed & Breakfast option in the Frank and Hazel room in the historic farm house. Lovely big room with a queen size bed, antique furnishings and lots of history and family photos on the walls. Beautiful old house with a wonderful front porch and guest kitchen. Our room came with a tiny half bath that has been built into the original closet. Tiny, but it works! There is also a small deck with a table and 2 chairs. Breakfast comes with the Bed and Breakfast package. If you stay in a cabin, it's extra. Because this is a working ranch, there are set times for meals - 9 am for breakfast and 6 pm for dinner. You need to preorder dinner and breakfast. The steak was delicious with fresh carrots, baked potatoes, a big salad and cheese bread. Dessert the night we were there was a mystery berry cream pie.. okay but not a winner. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, bacon, toast fruit and coffee, tea, juice. Trail rides and ATV riding are available as well a a 3km interpretive walk on the ranch. Cypress Hills, Fort Walsh and Maple Creek are near by.

The History of the ranch dates back before the conception of Saskatchewan. The family carries on the family tradition of ranching. They have also opened their ranch to guests and insure that they have the best experience. Horseback riding, quading , hiking trails all are well cared for. The guides know the history and care to make the experience the best they can for the guests. Dining in the old barn hall is a great opportunity to meet people and is always accompanied with music or more often with "Cowboy Poetry". Most of which is written by the family or friends. I can't say enough about how the family welcomes you and Scot is entertainment himself. I would recommend booking early as they are often full. Meals are planned ahead, and are the best I've eaten in a long time. If you have the opportunity, don't miss staying here.

After attending my niece’s wedding at Reesor Ranch last year my husband and I wanted to go back for a visit. Spent 4 relaxing nights at the Cowboy Cabin, it was so peaceful … the cabin is so comfortable and has everything you need. After a day of hiking or horseback riding you can relax in the jet tub. We had an amazing trail ride with Dee on horses Tonka and Belle, Dee was so friendly and made all riders feel comfortable. The day was truly fantastic!
Jason, Theresa and Scott were so great to talk with and it’s always interesting learning about The Ranch. Supper and Breakfast were really delicious and there was lots of it!
Cowboy, the dog, is a gentle companion and company as you make your way around the yard, super friendly.
If you are from the Prairie it’s a great place to re-connect to your roots and nature or if you have never been to this part of the world it’s a beautiful place to experience ranch life… it’s truly a gem of a place that we would recommend to all.

Stunning location, full of history, exceptional hospitality and tasty food served with a side of original cowboy poetry. Varied adventures for those who are looking for activities. I particularly enjoyed the early morning hikes experiencing the wide variety of flora and fauna. An oasis of calm from the busyness of the world. We will be back!

We stayed in the log cabin in mid-June and it was a wonderful experience. Neither my partner or I had explored this area much before, but boy did we really fall in love with this little slice of heaven! The log cabin was tucked away in the trees and connected to a few different hiking trails which we explored over the weekend and had a great time. The sunsets over the cliffs were stunning. We especially loved the views on Sunday when the fog rolled in over the hills. Breathtaking! The cabin and the area were both so quiet, remote and relaxing. Each time we went down to the ranch house we were greeted with a big smile and a friendly hello. Jason mapped out one of his favourite hikes for us to a beaver den which was a lot of fun. Mr. and Mrs. Reesor we're both warm and welcoming, and made sure we were well taken care of. The private shower was a really nice bonus. And I'm still craving the reesor spring water!
10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Thank you for your inquiry about dogs ‘outofsocks’. Thank you Joan for answering the pet question. Our website link at reesorranch gives the full explanation as to why we cannot have guests’ dogs at the ranch. We’d love to have you come and stay, but if you need a place for your dog to be with you try elkwaterlakelodge. They are only 1/2 hour from us in the Cypress Hills Park. Thanks again, Theresa and Scott, Owners of Historic Reesor Ranch

Hi Laurie, thanks for your question about lunches. Lunches are most often prepared for those booked in with Cypress Hills Adventure packages or groups that are here for a customized package. We can prepare bag lunches for other guests staying with us, but it's not a usual request. We are able to offer full breakfasts and suppers on a regular basis. All cabins have kitchenettes for preparing lunches and other meals. The ranchhouse B&B guests have a guest kitchen with a mid-size fridge to store their own extra lunch stuff in, but ranchhouse guests do not have facilities to prepare cooked meals in that kitchen. You can contact us by phone 306 662 3498 with more questions if you like. Thanks again, Theresa and Scott
