After a few days boating on the nearby Canal du Midi, a night in this charming chateau was the perfect end to our mothers 60th birthday celebration week! The rooms are huge, comfortable and have incredible views out onto the garden and surrounding countryside. Very pleasant. klaus and Nicole are real characters and perfect hosts, even providing us with a...

Chateau de Quarante is a beautiful home, but you should beware of some unusual policies that left us feeling uncomfortable and not unhappy to end our two night stay there. First, one pays in advance. Though Klaus, the congenial host, told us breakfast is “free” there is an extra charge for cafe au lait as well as other breakfast items....

Oh, Jon ! What a dramatic choice of title to express your displeasure about what you call "rules" and what we see as the rhythm of life in our own home. And what a disappointment to read such a negative assessment after all the friendly exchanges we had before and during your stay. Other than Madame's episodic pouting after demands...

Beautiful building but the rules imposed made it feel like Colditz. Breakfast was at one time only and it was on the table at this time, even if you were not there. Klaus was annoyed when we did not take up the evening meal, mind you we were not told what it was going to be and there would be...

Still playing games on an idle evening? Sneaking food and drinks in the room and using bed linens as napkins leaving them soiled with tomato sauce, and red wine stains was not perceived as a funny prank. Do you picnic on your own duvet cover at home too? However, we are still puzzled with the "tire tracks" left all over...

Being a sole traveller I was looking for someplace to stay and convenient tours in this intriguing area of the Languedoc. Was I expecting too much? I hoped not. I couldn't have picked better. Nicole and Klaus were the best of hosts. I was welcomed to their beautiful home, an eclectic mix of antique and modern furnishings and décor. I...

Bonjour y'all ! Who in the world could ask for better praise? Right to the point and straight to our heart ! Thanks a million ! You were really such a fun bunch to have around and entertain. The Chateau de Quarante, built by a wine merchant in the early 1800s, is a jewel of a building in a charming village surrounded by vineyards in Lanquedoc. That, in itself, would be enough to entice the traveler to linger awhile, but there is so much more. Guests at the chateau enjoy wonderful French cuisine that Nicole prepares from local...

Situated in its own park in the small community of Quarante, about 20 minutes by car from Beziers, it is a perfect location for a memorable visit. A large part of the charm of...

Sunny memories of a special dinner under the spreading pine tree and a stunning picnic on the banks of the Canal du Midi before an afternoon cruise. Nicole and Klaus go out of their way to look after you well. What we loved was the attention to detail in the presentation of the food. We'll be back.
