We stayed for two nights, after Sepilok and before Danum Valley. The transfer by boat from Sandakan was great fun, we saw wild orang utans high in the trees on the way, along with loads of monkeys and birds. We stopped for lunch at the sister lodge Abai, before carrying on an hour further up river. We chose this lodge...

We stayted for 2 nights, after previously staying at Sepilok and Abai Jungle Lodge. This is the sister property of Abai Jungle Lodge, but in my opinuion this is the better of the two. We stayed in room 7, towards the back of the resort, reached by a boardwalk which links you to the jetty and restaurant area. Unlike Abai,...

We stayed two nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms are very basic and quite gloomy but the location, staff, wildlife and food makes up for the room. We were lucky to see two orangutan on our first night and then one on our second night. They were high up so strong binoculars will help. The food was very...

Due to time restrictions we only stayed for one night at the lodge and wish we has stayed for more. The rooms are nicely laid out on a boardwalk and are spacious and clean, although we didn't spend much time in our room anyway. The main building is spacious and there is a large deck along the river which was...

This is a pleasant lodge on the Kinabatangan River. The lodge room was clean and of a good size although there was a minor problem with the lack of hot water in our and some other lodge rooms while we were there. The staff were very good and the buffet style evening meal where we all dressed in local sarongs...

We stayed here for one night, having already spend two nights at Abai Jungle Lodge, owned by the same company. All was great - clean and spacious rooms, excellent food and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our guide from Abai (Bryant) went with us, that seems to be the usual approach, to keep the same guide for the two locations....

This lodge is all you need to appreciate what's around you. The wildlife is what we come to see here and we were lucky enough to see such a lot. After a day's river safari, the rooms are all you need to get a good night's sleep- they're clean, have mosquito guards at the windows, a ceiling fan and are...

Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge is a great base for rides on the river to view the wildlife. It was our second lodge in two days, similar to Abai Lodge. The lodge itself is very nice with raised boardwalks and nice flowers around the main building. Our room was modest, but nice. It had no air-conditioning and the room was very poorly...

We stayed here for 1 night during our honeymoon and it was wonderful! The highlight has to be the late afternoon river safari, seeing proboscis monkeys heading up the same tree to get comfortable for bed time, and macacks of varying sizes eating from the trees right next to the rivers edge. And even a heavily pregnant orang utan high...

Great trip down the Kinabatangan river - lots of monkeys, a python and a monitor lizard but seeing a 4m croc had to be the highlight! As did Abai jungle lodge, the food was great and staff were welcoming! Breakfast on the decking was very pleasant - can't beat noodles for breakfast with a riverside view!
