The room was not clean, the shower was falling off the wall, the hot water had been turned off, there was no staff available at night to ask for assistance. I left the next day. Maybe it has improved but not sure, its been a few years. There are other places to stay, such as Casa de Marta (good), and...

I met a group of potters in an art exposition in Las Cruces, NM from Mata Ortiz, MX. I always wanted to visit the village and decided to cross through at El Paso and rent a car from the airport on the other side....didn't want to mess with passing with a vehicle and the insurance. The Posada de las Ollas may be a better choice, simply because you will likely get better exposure to the pottery of the village since potters are allowed to come into the lobby and show their wares...thus, you can buy directly from them.....whereas, the Adobe Inn has its own 'gift shop' and thus controls what you are offered. This inn provides three meals a day which are included in the price of your lodging. Rooms run $75 a night for a double…very affordable. The rooms are modest but it is safe and clean and makes you feel like a part of the village. The staff are friendly and will help provide tours of the potters homes, the area...

The very small town of Mata Ortiz is very well known for the amazing potters that it has produced for several generations.
