The beach front cabins are in an amazing location and have awesome covered decks! However the cabins need some things changed. Very thin duvets on beds, only 2 bowls for a cabin sleeping 6, thin small towels that barely cover you, barely any toilet paper and no BBQ. We had a great stay but with a few of these quick fixes the owners could make the place way better. The beach is great for kids and we loved the fire pit.

Breakers is a small resort located on one of the sandiest and kid friendly beaches on east coast of Vancouver Island. The location is outstanding, the staff are really friendly and very accommodating. Our cabin was roomy, has two bedrooms and a nice size living room and kitchen. I would love to have provided a higher rating; however, the cabin is in desperate need of some TLC. The kitchen has very limited utensils, dishes and other items, the pots and pans are worn and mismatched, and the furniture is quite dated. The bathroom is also needs to be updated. All of this being said, the location is first rate and can't be beat. We enjoyed our time there and made do with the accommodations because of the friendly atmosphere and staff.

Response from Leslie E, Owner at Breakers Resort

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear you have enjoyed our sandy beach and friendly staff. However, I would like to address your concerns with our cabins. Over the past several years we have been working on upgrading the resort, items which needed attention were new roofs on all buildings septic system upgrades, then moving onto exterior sundeck repairs and maintenance, siding repairs and exterior painting of all buildings done over the months of March and April 2019. During this period of time we also did a full renovation on cabin 5, please see our recently launched new website at breakersresort.ca to see photos. We are continuing to upgrade each cabin one by one as we are open year round it can be difficult to pick and choose which cabin we are doing and in what order they will be completed in. We are continuing to accommodate guests needs during the ski season, fishing season as well as during the busy summer months. Some of our long term guests have stated that they appreciate the rustic appeal of our cabins. Therefore we are trying our best to find that balance that accommodates everyone's needs.

Breakers' location is amazing. The beach, proximity to amenities, and grounds are great and very conducive to all ages.

That being said, the cabins themselves are in a state of, well, fatigue. Any updates that have been done are piecemeal and hap-hazard. The "well-appointed" kitchen had a leaking fridge, worn-out pans, one wine glass for a cabin that sleeps 6, lacked oven mits, among other things.

Additionally, the cost for 3 nights was more than some 3 and 4 star resorts with similar locations (beaches, etc.), so it's very difficult to reconcile the state of the accommodation with the premium pricing.

Overall, we made the best of it, but will not be going back until the cabins are in a better state of repair.

We have been going to the Breakers for 32 years and love it there. I read some of the negative reviews which is a shame. I am sure if they had brought it to David and Leslie's attention they would have taken care of it. Every year that we go there is usually some updated and changed.

Very clean cabins with a fantastic view of the beach. The resort owners are friendly and very accommodating. The cabins are stocked with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Nearby there is a grocery store, a liquor store and a pizza place which is very convenient. I would highly recommend this resort if your looking for a family beach getaway.

We had an amazing stay in one of the waterfront cabins with a view of the Pacific Coastal Mountain Range. I love waking up to the sound of the waves rolling into the beach and morning coffee on the deck. The winter storms can bring driftwood right up to the deck and it's a great location for a beach fire.
The cabin had a full kitchen and all the comforts of home. If you are missing anything, just ask the owners, they'll have it or know where to get it.
The kids spent hours on the beach and this is definitely a family destination we'll go to again.

In 2019 & 2020 our kids and grandkids had a beach cabin with a firepit, with the understanding that it would be they're cabin forever for the same week every year, this year being 21 August 2021.
They were informed that the people who had the cabin in 2018 were coming back so they get the cabin back, it was pre COVID so makes no sense.....what a joke!!!

Just home from our 28th year (okay, we have missed one or two) of visiting this resort. It is our destination of choice for a family vacation on Vancouver Island.

The cabins are oceanfront, always clean and fully equipped - 5 star camping, in our opinion (love the cozy duvets on the beds). Dave and Leslie provide a clean, family friendly environment. Tina greets you with a smile and is always there to help out where she can.

We have experienced summer on the beach (steps from your cabin), fall (with the cool evenings) and, if you are lucky, some great storm watching. We have even enjoyed our Thanksgiving turkey (with all the trimmings) now and again.

You may have to try to book outside July & August as it is usually fully booked for the summer with families returning year after year! I recommend getting on their cancellation list for these months.

We are already looking forward to our next visit!
