Detailed Reviews
An evening spent in the restaurant meant not only really good food, but also felt like a relaxed visit with new friends. The room was a delight. Clearly new management is giving the hotel a second chance. I will recommend this gem any a day.

Although very cheap and in a lovely secluded area in Pringle bay, the rooms are very dirty and small and often no hot water. But the staff are friendly and its short drive Pringle bay, kleinmont and Gordon's bay. About 50km drive from Hermanus which is ideal in whale season.

Oh my word!!! Where do I start... Peppers on the charcuterie board that fizz like enos, lambshank - tough and pretty tasteless mash at a staggering price of R250. Then we were surprised with a "ticket" price of R150 per person (we were 4) for the "live" entertainment. We were not informed of the charge when we made our reservation. Obviously, we were not going to pay that fee, and we were promptly moved to a delapitated, smoking bar... We left, and will for sure not be back and shall not be recommending this establishment to anyone.
Shameful.
Shameful.

The Hangklip Hotel is not just a venue, it is an awesome institution. You will be transported into a modern version of yesteryear. The owners are lovely, welcoming and will go out of their way to make you feel special and part of the festivities. Whether you want to experience a nature trip to the biosphere, or experience brilliant music, or a party, filled with dancing and laughter you will love and never forget, you need to experience the legendary HKH. Happy, friendly staff will provide delicious, tasty changing food menus, to a wide variety of drinks, sitting outdoors where you can smell and see the ocean, to indoors around a fire, all available to suit any tastes. A wonderous memory, you will never forget or regret! Now one of my favourite destinations. Thank you Jason and Deborah and all the lovely staff of the HKH for making every visit so enjoyable.

Our party of six friends thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic 7-course Christmas lunch in the Hangklip Hotel's Boma. Our experience did not disappoint, from beginning to end. From the glass of welcoming bubbles, to the beautifully laid tables and other festive decorations, to the seemingly endless series of delicious dishes that came our way, to the little touches such as the tasteful Christmas crackers - we really could not fault the event. The attentive owners and staff made for slick service and clearly a lot of thought and preparation went into the organisation of the lunch. The only (minor) improvement would be to include a vegetarian main dish for the non fish/meat eaters. Thank you again for a fabulous meal and great afternoon. We'll be back next year!

New owners - new beginnings. The cozy fireplace and accommodating hosts make it worthwhile to visit. Let's wait for the accommodation upgrade and coming exciting events. Also looking forward to the coming weekends' meal offers prepared by local guest cooks.

This must be one of the worst campsites in South Africa. We wanted to book in for the long weekend. All their contact numbers on the website do not work. Eventually we managed to get through via someone else. We were told that the campsite was not used in a while but that the price listed on the website was wrong and that it will be increased as of the long weekend. On arrival the Hotel and surrounding buildings looked abandoned. There was no one to around. The buildings were falling apart. The offices were all locked. We found a worker in the back of a dodgy kitchen who told us we could drive around and find a site. THERE WAS NO SITES. Just a patch of overgrown bush with no water or ablutions. The site itself looked like a rubbish dump. Their website is pure false advertising. Do not waste your time or petrol going there. We left and booked into the Palmiet Resort where we were greeted by friendly staff, the ablutions were spotless, the security amazing and the camp sites were well equipped and clean.

The Hangklip Hotel recently changed hands and I would like to congratulate the new owners for breathing new life into the "tired old lady". From new menus each month with a country theme to amazing live music. Check out there website for upcoming events, the lineup is outstanding. Friendly atmosphere, warm and cozy and a large range of drinks to suit all palates. Give it a shot.

Please do not visit this place. We paid R300 PER PERSON PER NIGHT for a chalet with NO towels, NO toilet paper, NO hot water, broken glass everywhere, dirty linen and an electricity box that was a clear fire hazard!
We were never asked whether we were ok and we specifically told them we were entertaining 9 guests for a birthday - there were 2 plates, 3 forks and 11 knives!? We were given a cardboard box with a few glasses and that was it.
I will NEVER go back

Please be advised that THE HANGKLIP HOTEL is under new management since this visit. The owners have taken over personally and basic services like fresh and clean rooms, linen, crockery and cutlery in the chalets are considered standard. Renovations are underway all over the premises, The Hangklip Hotel Restaurant is in the hands of a London chef and currently weekends are hopping with beautiful people and fantastic live music.
