An ideal location to recover your soul, in the middle of nature with only the forest around you...what a gem! And still close to the slopes for skiing, just a 15 minutes ride by car and off you go. Certainly for those who do not need an after ski party every night. The owner Laurent and his staff are showing hospitality at its best, personalized, friendly and overwhelming welcome, assistance throughout our stay to a very emotional farewell. Here you feel taken care of. Warm and cozy bedrooms and a delicous a la carte menu with excellent French cuisine, goods from local suppliers at the highest quality; here you lead the life of Riley. If you do not bring your own ski equipment, Laurent can help you to rent out everything, he grew up in this place and knows everybody, we did so and everything was perfectly organized, ski trainers for our kids included. Not to forget that he runs a second business, "Le Central Bar" in Villard-de-Lans, a good place to start the day with a coffee before skiing, for a plat du jour for lunch or just for an aperitif before dinner...typical French Bistro full of locals, worth to visit to see the real life in this region of France. And the incredible barmen Henri, who told me about his passion for hunting and presented me a piece of his freshly shot deer the next day as farewell gift and a recipe for preparing. We did so the next day after our return home, excellent. So if you are looking for a primary place getting local experience, inside nature and away from mass tourism, highly recommended!!!…
Quiet location in the forest off the main highway. Clean and simple, friendly young lady receptionist. Breakfast was minimal. Good spot for a stopover or to enjoy a more relaxing location. Chose this over staying in a populated busy area. It was a relaxing stay.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at l'auberge in July 2017. We enjoyed every aspects of our stay. The comfort of the bed was excellent, the insonorisation of the room was perfect, the service at the front desk and in the restaurant was incredibly warm, personalized and efficient. The superb quality of the food is surprisingly high for a 2 stars hotel and the price we paid! We were disappointed by the comfort of the bathroom but the new owner Laurent is planning to entirely upgrade the room and the bathroom in November 2017. (we had the family suite) The localisation is perfect for hiking and visiting this beautiful region of France. We highly recommend this place!
We stayed here with a cycling group and really enjoyed it. The food was superb. The rooms were tidy and well kept. The management was very friendly. The site is quiet and peaceful in spite of being close tot he road. Our guests enjoyed the outdoor patio after rides.
We have been to the Auberge last year September. It was intended as peaceful getaway, while the kids stay with grand parents...and the stay exceeded expectations. It is easy to reach being next to a "main road", but not many cars passed through during nights or evenings. It was a very quiet area. It is located right next to walking and mountainbike trails, so you don't have to take your car to get right into nature. We booked with Dinner and it was a good choice. We didn't feel the need to go out and dine somewhere else. The food was delicious and service was friendly. The atmosphere was nice, with big windows all around and nice views on the forrest. The rooms were nicely decorated and no TV in the rooms, which was perfect. The view is nice. The outside invites to a nice glass of the local prosecco after a day of hiking. There is ample space and comfortable seating. After only a day we detached completely from our work stress and enjoyed 4 days of relaxing, jogging, hiking and eating. Great place for that.…
