One of our favourite weekend bolt holes whilst living in Jo'burg. The lodges are located in a beautiful private reserve which, being so relaxed, feels a million miles from the city, yet us easily accessible. Each lodge has been really nicely done, well equipped, spacious and confortable. There's also lots to do for everyone - fishing in the lakes, horse...

So, if you are reading this, you also need to check out the reviews for Komati Gorge Lodge - which is the same place, but under a different heading on Tripadvisor. What a fantastic and under-rated find this was! I am almost tempted to NOT write a review so I can keep this gem tucked away from other eyes. PROS:...

We have spend a great weekend here in July. The travel there is Ok with the last part being a dirt road but accesible with a normal car. All cottages are well appointed and self catering but the restaurant is open for the weekend offering breakfast, light lunches and great dinners. We had all breakfast and dinners there. There is an...

It's beautiful, the staff are friendly, there are a lot of activities for everyone, paddle boating, archery, horse riding and hikes. The houses are perfectly decorated. DOG FRIENDLY!!!! The water is sooo clean, just had an amazing time! The pool area looked so inviting definitely going back in the summer time!

Gorgeous setting. We stayed in Kingfisher which was comfortable. The children's room had bats flying around the first night but after the staff attended to it the following morning, the bats seemed to stay away. The staff were very friendly. Bright (the security guard at the gate) was helpful and greeted us warmly and enthusiastically. The cleaning staff were efficient...

We were a young couple looking for a beautiful romantic destination... We completely succeeded in finding one at Komati Gorge. Food was amazing, 5 stars. Lots of activities. Management was very helpful and quick to fulfill our requests. Only thing missing was a shaded area for our picnic. This place is highly recommended!

Firstly, the gravel road to the venue is an absolute pleasure! Upon entering the Gorge we were welcomed by Patricia. What an incredibly friendly receptionist! And she doubles as the massage therapist too! We stayed in the FireFly cottage with our 2 children. We realised just before dark that we had no hot water, but Manager Ernst came to our...

I recently booked this place for a long weekend. After accepting the booking, they added a 'minimum stay' clause, and without making further contact gave our booking away. They admit their employee made a mistake but we are the ones out in the cold. Not happy.

We went away for our annerversary... to get to the hotel was a very long bumpy dirt road... took us about 40 minutes if not more on the dirt road... which made it quite a drive from Jhb... we got there at night, pitch dark for the duration of the dirt road... We arrived there, had supper, very mediocre hotel...

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend with no idee of time. The environment is that of absolute peace and tranquility. This lodge is situated away from the hussel and bussel of the everyday rush an escape from the world. You just dont want to go back to the real world when the weekend is over. The hospitality is that of nothing but...

“The Leopard suites offer more privacy (self-catering option). More romantic; luxe. They have thatch roofs. There is also a 'hotel-like' option, with rooms right on the river (you can hear it babble). These do not have the self-catering option. Also no thatch roof (some people prefer that)”
