Quatermains 1920s Safari Camp is not for everyone. If you want 5 star luxury, four course meals and extensive wine lists then please look elsewhere, there are plenty of lodges in Amakhala or Shamwara that will meet your needs. If instead, you want a flavour of a bygone age, "roughing" it in the bush with simple but delicious meals cooked...

Great Safari Camp that gives you the true 'bush feeling'. Loved the staff. We stayed for 2 nights and did 4 game drives and had lots of great sightings. The tents are really good and comfortable. Sam, when we come back we'll make 'bitterballen' and I'll bring stroopwafels!

This was our very first safari experience but we are quite sure it will be hard to find such a wonderful place elsewhere. Hosting only six guests at once Julie, Riaan and the rest of the team made us feel like one big family. From the moment we arrived we felt like at home greeted by the friendly staff. The...

From the moment you climb aboard the V8 game viewer, heading off to camp, you are aware that something magical is about to happen. Craig, Lungi, Ace and the support team never fail to make you feel welcome comfortable and safe. The 3 tents and the dining area (Boma) are rustic in keeping with the adventure but by no means uncomfortable.No...

My husband and I have been traveling for almost two months now through Asia and South Africa, and staying at Quatermains has definitely been our favorite experience to date! The camp facilities are very nice- the "rooms" are platform tents that are set back a bit so that you have privacy. We loved the experience of camping while still having...

The right balance of simplicity and skills in a wonderful location. Access to both Amakhala and Shamwari is a plus, both for game sightings and for the variety of landscapes. The guides know their stuff.

This was a wonderful experience. At a practical level, the tent was very comfortable, the camp was attractive and welcoming, the people were friendly and knowledgable, and the food was excellent. And as somebody who had never been on safari before, I was fascinated and deeply moved by what I saw. We were lucky enough, for example, to follow elephants...

Right from the initial meeting at the main gate with Ryon we were relaxed and feeling more than welcome as we started our first Safari experience. A short drive from the parking lot have an immediate flavour of the area. The drives were incredible and sighting of 4 of the big 5 made became the cherry on top. The entire...

Though we stayed for only one night due to time constraints, we had a truly memorable stay at Quatermains. The staff were the trip highlight, both knowledgeable and friendly and the accommodation was exactly as described, rustic but comfortable. For a true safari experience, this is the spot

We stayed for 2 nights and did not want it to end. The camp, the tents, the game drives, the animals, the food - everything was perfect, we cannot think of a single thing that could be improved. Wonderful, friendly people and an incredible starry sky at night. A very special place.
