Nestled by the Kabini River, The Serai Kabini offers a picturesque retreat popular for its serene atmosphere and proximity to safari adventures. Guests have lauded the hotel's diverse amenities, including safari excursions, water activities, and a sumptuous spa. While the attentive service receives high marks, there have been occasional mentions of delays. The cleanliness of the well-maintained rooms and facilities is often praised, although opinions on value vary with some concerns over the costs of safaris and dining. The tranquil and luxurious ambiance complements the comfortable yet sometimes snug rooms.

We visited Kabini in Feb 2020 and stayed at the beautiful Serai Resorts for 2 nights in adjacent bungalows. From the time we arrived to the very last minute, the Serai Staff took care of every small detail. They are truly exceptional and made our stay very memorable.

The arrival was marked with the traditional Serai drums and a fantastic welcome drink (lemonade). The valet service took care of the car and delivered our luggage to our units. The check in was seamless and soon we entered our fabulous bungalows with impeccable landscaping and pathways. Absolutely no insects or mosquitoes despite the vicinity to the Kabini River (since they do pest control). The weather was perfect both night and day.

The bungalows are a delight with well appointed furniture, complimentary drinks and snacks with a very clean bathroom and a superb shower (stone walled with glass top and raised ceiling) exceeding international standards. You also get free wifi. On purpose there are no TV’s or newspapers to coax the guests to get out and enjoy the surroundings.

Everyday the Wildgrass Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The choices are wide ranging from Indian, Western to Oriental. But one can request special items to bd served fresh in an alacarte manner. The South Indian fare (palya, pongal, upittu, chapathi, etc) are especially fresh. There is absolutely no compromise. The kitchen staff will take care of your special diet needs.

They also arrange the boat and Jeep safari’s with the adjacent Jungle Lodges and provide to/fro transport. They have special programs such as caracal rides, temple boat tour, sunset boat rides and seasonal folk programs. They also screen a short documentary on the nearby Nagarhole Forest which is quite educational.

They have a spa on site and we had shoulder and head massage with hot stones and oil which will melt your stress away for a very reasonable fee. It is a place for family and friends with Huddle Room with indoor sports such as chess, carroms, cards, etc

Serai takes customer service seriously. They really want you to have a good time. They go to extreme lengths. They are polite, friendly and deliver an experience that is hard to beat. On the way out, they handed us packets of our favorite cookies (Ragi biscuit) for the road. We were blown away! Best wishes to Serai. Thank you and God Bless!!!

We (me and my wife) stayed at Serai Kabini for 3 nights in the second week of December. The property is situated along the Kabini river.Initially had some difficulty in reaching the resort as google maps suggested a route which was closed so just be a bit aware of that. The cottage we stayed in had a clear view of the river, we could just spend the entire day sitting on the porch.Rooms are neat and clean and house keeping staff is very effective and my requests were promptly taken care of even late in the night.Food was tad expensive but good. The local cuisine served was worth the bucks.Hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. We had hour anniversary on one of the dates and Mr. Salim (one of the managers) was gracious enough to arrange for a nice anniversary cake. Mr. Tipu (I think he manages the house staff) also helped in making out stay comfortable.Mr Manju (hope I am getting the name correct), used too serve us in the dining area and came across as a very friendly, efficient and helpful executive. One can indulge in the various playing amenities available, though some of those are chargeable. Icing on the cake was the river and jungle safari. Kabini is famous for wildlife spotting and we were not disappointed. We were able to see exotic birds, crocodile, elephants , boars, deers and a tiger !!
I just have one suggestion for the management, we reached mid-week and during the first 2 days of our stay the resort was relatively empty, because of which the breakfast buffet was limited (in the sense that some of the items were made available on request but not served as part of the spread), also newspaper was provided in the room only on the last morning.
Also the forest safari in the mini bus was not really ideal, a jeep would have been much better.
These are small things no doubt but can at times create subtle differences in impression.
Overall we had a great stay and I will strongly recommend this place to my friends.

It was our 2nd trip to Nagarhole, and we had the best stay ever at Serai. It's close to Jungle Lodges (which holds the weird monopoly for booking all safari's for Kabini).

The location on the banks of the Kabini lake, the sleek, well maintained property is peaceful in it's self. The luxuriously, high-ceiling room with the private patio and hammock is worth every penny spent. Loved their attention to all our request. The cookies and chocolates kept in the room just melt in your mouth. They have an excellent buffet spread for breakfast (delivered to you table, due to covid rules). They have plenty options for lunch and dinner as well, food is priced on a higher side. We enjoyed our meals and the complimenary treat of a blueberry cheesecake (YUM).

Special shoutout to Mr. Shyamraj, he did his best for the safari bookings and was the most helpful. He's definitely an asset to the Serai.

The overall staff and service is very prompt, friendly and courteous. We had a fabulous stay and loved every moment of our holiday. All hygiene protocols are taken care of. We'll come back for sure..

A lovely collection of 20 cottages on the banks of the lake formed by the Kabini dam. All the cottages have a water view, outside decked area and hammock. Inside they are tastefully decorated, with air con,a safe, tea / coffee facilities, mini fridge and full bathroom facilities.
On our arrival, we had a slight problem with the booking, but it was professionally and amicably resolved by Saleem, the hotel manager.
The restaurant food was very good, helped no doubt by the fact that Shadab, the senior chef, is very passionate about his cooking and is working hard to bring the whole kitchen team up to his high ‘international standard’. On one evening he even came out to our table to discuss the proposed menu for the following nights 5 course meal, in order to accommodate our personal tastes. Our restaurant waiters were also excellent when it came to advising us on our food choices over the 3 days of our stay and Ugrappa and Manju deserve special mentions.
The hotel also provides free bicycles for on site use, archery, badminton and a gym. In addition, the swimming pool is excellent, perfect for swimming lengths and also, a separate children’s pool.
The spa is also very good and compared with Europe / USA offers extremely good value.
The hotel offers both land and river safaris on a twice daily basis, although I will not get distracted from the hotel review by detailing them.
In my opinion, this hotel thoroughly deserves my 5* TA rating based on overall experience.

It was wonderful experience staying in Serai Rsort kabini.

Firstly i would like to say that you have a very warm and helpful staff.
They were very polite helpful.

Specially people Mr. Nagesh in restaurant and Wildlife and activity manager Mr. Chamraj.

Even we had wonderful time while enjoying the food in the restaurant. Also incase of food it was delicious and woth so nicely presented.

We were bit sceptical after this covid and all that if we were right to go and stay in forests. But serai kabini was upto the mark in all of sections in cleanliness and sanitation

I would definately suggest stay in setai to all my friends.

I feel only improvement isto keep doing what you all are doing.

I would definitely give 9/10.

Improvement:

1.Reception area needs to be bit bigger since if 4 or groups land up at same time then the space looks bit small.
2. Serai resort can offer activities which are done before the guests arrived means how rooms were properly sanitized etc.

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay and celebrated New Year here. I must say the staff and experience were extraordinary. The best part is, the resort signboards on the road at least 25 - 30 Kms away from the highway and every turn makes you feel comfortable otherwise you may easily get lost in the village roads.
The property is right on the bank of the river Kabini and every cottage ( I guess they have 20 such cottages) has a sitout facing the river. The cottages are spacious and super elegant. You will be welcomed with drum beat and a welcome drink(tender coconut) . From the reception staff to everyone including the house keeping staff wears a broad smile and keep you feel warm welcomed to the place. Sprawling green grass , wonderful trees , hammocks and high view deck will make you feel the nature's wonderful experience.

The room is filled with snack ( cookies, chocolates and dry fruits) jars and juices. The fresh linens (I never saw such clean white linens even in Taj) and clean huge bathrooms give such an amazing feeling.

They have every activity that you can imagine, speed boat, corakkal, kayak and safari rides are some. Kids and grown ups will enjoy the outdoor and indoor activities in such an expansive setting and the river backdrop.

The resort has an amazing restaurant where you get all types of food (Asian, Continental, Indian). The restaurant manager and his support staff are friendly and can help you to get the food you want. The elaborate breakfast spread is simply outstanding.

There's not a single thing that I can complian and crib about. I was talking to Manager Salim that I was trying to find one fault and miserably failed to find one. He's such a warm personality. They had arranged a great New Year party which we all enjoyed very much.

I am very much impressed with Cafe Coffee Day management and want to explore their other properties . If you are planning a trip to Kabini, this is the best property you and your family will cherish for long time for sure.

Visited Serai once again in the span of few months with my friends. Though it was only for one night stay, this happened to be the most eventful trips of all time. Offered lime juice as a welcome drink, we gulped 3 glasses of it as it was very refreshing after a long drive. We checked in quite early (offered a early checkin at no extra cost) to the villa, started the day with a coracle ride (complimentary) and speed boat ride (looked like a speed boat, didn't run like one though). We chose to go for the boat safari in the evening and after 3 hours of bird spotting(no sightings except few spotted deers), the last half an hour turned dramatic as the boat driver came to know of a possible tiger sighting. We were racing against time as tiger spottings are based on your luck. This time, I said to myself and the driver that I should see the big cat at any cost. He drove the boat as fast as he can finally to spot the big cat. Felt like I achieved something cool, as many land safari attempts before did not give the result i wanted.
To our luck, our boat had a technical glitch when it was about to start again. So we had the oppurtunity to be near the cat and enjoy its beauty for 20 minutes. Another boat came to our rescue. We chose to go for the land safari the next day morning and to our surprise, 3 tigers welcomed us again and it was a beautiful sight to behold. Again, first of my many attempts to land safari at Nagerhole. My friends were extremely lucky to catch them in the first attempt.
The restaurant excels in their department, Prashanth made sure that we got what we needed. Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast was tasty with a wide variety of multi cuisine spread.
I would definitely come back again, soon :-)

We stayed at the Serai during the last week of December. We went with my parents and two young children. It was a wonderful stay with excellent hospitality.

The booking covered all meals and the restaurant served these a la carte to ensure social distancing. The wait staff at the restaurant was very considerate and ensured prompt service at all meals.

The cottages are comfortable and overlook the Kabini river. The property also offers a host of sports including table tennis, badminton, and cycles of all sizes appropriate for all family members. Our stay at Serai was a restful break and we would very much recommend it!

Serai Kabini is an amazing place both for it beautiful cottages and facilities and for its fabulous staff whose hospitality is next level and whose warmth and professionalism make a stay here an absolute joy. My wife and I found Serai Kabini to be a genuine oasis in a sometimes hectic India. The views of the Kabini River, the resident mongoose or the family of monkeys just down the beach, the wonderful food with a huge variety of both Indian dishes to try for the first time and top notch western food options as well, a morning coffee and tea stand outside with a barista who really knew his stuff, the groundskeepers who were always excited to see us as we walked to and from our cottage, the warm campfire that awaited us in the evening if we wanted to enjoy a cocktail there, the excellent complimentary loaner binoculars for each safari, the free traditional coracle boat ride in an instant if you wanted one, the pride and professionalism of the safari staff organizers who made safaris a breeze and connected us with the best naturalists to ensure we saw the most wildlife – all of these are our memories of our stay here. Also a special shout out to Saleem, the front desk manager, who in response to an email from me saying we were likely to miss our first night because of a glitch in our travel plans, drove an hour to rescue us so that we would not miss the 6PM park road closing for the night. That kind of service and hospitality is very rare to find in the world these days! Do yourself a favor and stay at this small, wonderful place. ….and be a good guest!

Our stay at the Serai Kabini was the first vacation we decided to venture out as family since the lockdown in March 2020.
With much apprehension on stepping out and after much research we narrowed down to this place.

Upon our arrival we were much impressed by the hospitality of the staff and crew, the hygiene standards and protocols followed, the layout of the property, the room service etc. was absolutely brilliant.
The highlight of our trip was when the Head Chef, Kanwaljeet Singh invited my sister and I over to join his team in baking a cake for our parents Wedding Anniversary which happened to fall during our time of the stay.
In all of my visits to various countries and hotel stays, this is definitely one of a kind experience and one that we’ll cherish for a lifetime :)
I would also like to recommend the authenticity and quality of the food which is absolutely delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection.

A huge shout out to the entire staff and crew of Serai Kabini for keeping up the standard of excellence despite the challenging times.
If you’re contemplating on a place to visit, THIS IS YOUR GO TO PLACE!!! :D

Safaris can be booked at the resort and they will transport you to the boat or vehicle and provide a guide. The food is very reasonable, good and has generous portions
