We totally enjoyed our 2 week stay in a Millyard cottage. Bob, the owner & host, is terrific, full of information & stories about the area and property, if you care to engage him. Sitting on the cabin front porch, watching the tide come in or out is relaxing, there's usually a great breeze and lots of birds. The cabins are roomy, comfy, have a fan, small heater, microwave, fridge, coffee maker & BBQ w side burner. Bob will provide dishes & cutlery & other kitchen items upon request. You can ask for bedding or bring you own, but I suggest bringing your own towels and pillows. The cabins were not dirty, but I must say there were cobwebs in the rafters and dust on the furniture. However, I later learned that Bob was without a housekeeper during our stay, since resolved. The cabins themselves have no running water, there's an outside tap & hot water in the washrooms, you carry it back for dishes or coffee. There is 1 central building with 4 exterior doors, 2 private washrooms & 2 private showers. Their condition is ok. The wifi and cell service is spotty, mostly unreliable. This is true for the whole Bear River area and certainly nothing against Bob, who is trying everything to improve wifi service. The best spot is right in front of the office where he has a table, chairs & an awning, so certainly not an unpleasant place to use your phone. This place is fabulous as long as you understand what is being provided. I would absolutely stay again.

My husband and two young girls loved it here. Very cozy cabins and covered decks. Quiet and relaxing. The owners put great care into this property. Also, order pizza out of sissiboo coffee if you can!

This experience was a huge disappointment! It was a nice and remote location on Bear River, but the description provided online was very inaccurate. My family and I reserved two cabins for approximately $50/night. When we arrived they charged us $90/night without contacting us to let us know that they changed ownership and that the prices had increased. It advertises as having a kitchenette, but there was nothing to cook on, no sink, a keurig coffee maker without any pods or coffee cups, and we had to pay "rent" mismatched and incomplete dish sets and soap. We had to wash our dishes in the bathroom and the rented dishes didn't even include bowls. The furniture was dirty and falling apart. My mattress was sliding off the box spring and the headboard was haphazardly leaning against the wall. Unattached. I was molested by the springs in the mattress and the sheets didn't fit properly. Staff described that the furniture was "vintage". The wifi worked 50 percent of the time. The cabin seemed to have areas where bugs could come in because in one night, there were 6 earwigs, 3 unidentified bugs, and several spiders. The staff was very kind, but I felt terrible that they had to deal with all of the complaints from other guests without any authority to rectify any issues we had. The worst part is that the new owner Ryan was impossible to get a hold of, so we couldn't even cancel our reservations there. When I FINALLY got a hold of him, he said that he would review the situation and get back to us, but we never heard from him. It had the potential to be a great stay had they described it more accurately so that we can better prepare ourselves. We recommend that you bring full camping equipment if you plan to stay here because Ryan did mention that they will be charging for sheets, propane and dishes. I would suggest that you clarify in detail exactly what will be included in your stay!

The cabin was bad. Paid 90 dollars and they charged 50 dollars more for sheets towel and a cot. The linen were shabby and old. The cabin looked like an abandoned building with a bed in it. Worse place I have ever stayed.

Very friendly staff (the lady at the front desk was so nice and accommodating!) She made sure we had every thing we needed - even a milkbone for our pup! The campground was quiet and private, we stayed in the grape getaway cabin. The washrooms were well kept as well as the cabin its self. The only complaint I would have it that the fire pit area was very grown over so we couldn’t really access it. It is the beginning of the year and stuff happens! We only stayed one night here but we will definitely be returning in the future.

Millyard Recreation offers three custom designed cabins for a relaxing stay beside the tidal Bear River. Designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, each cabin has a large deck with table and chairs in addition to a large one-room indoor living space with a loft. There is no kitchen, but there is a refrigerator, microwave, and a propane grill on the deck. All the necessary kitchen utensils are furnished, also bed linens and pillows. Showers and flushable toilets are located in a separate building and are shared with other guests. Proprietor Bob Benson is very friendly and is glad to tell you about local history. Bring your kayak or canoe and enjoy Bear River at high tide. Enjoy the nighttime peace and quiet and the stunning canopy of stars. Bring your own towels.

We booked a cabin for a getaway with our son who lives in Halifax and we're from Ontario. Thanks to the reviews we picked this cabin and we're so happy we did! The view was spectacular of the river watching the tide come and go! Bob was a great Host he made sure we had everything we needed. Bear River has some nice shops and a couple very nice Wineries. Would love to go back again! We recommend this place!

Stayed in cabin #2. It was basic but beautiful and peaceful. Also the price is great and owners are friendly. Will definitely return. The wifi worked some of the time at our cabin but is good by the office. Only advice I would give is make sure to bring your own firewood for a campfire, as they do not sell any.

Great campground, kept clean and quiet. Not fancy but meets all the needs of a camper. Friendly people. Located right on the river made for awesome scenery and relaxing times. Quaint little hideaway located close to family attractions.
