The confusion first - on driving into the car park (which the booking site said was free) there was a sign saying pay and display £100 and no overnight car parking. A phone call advised that did not apply to hotel guests. Perhaps a new sign could have saved the confusion. Once inside it was a good clean modern hotel....

Firstly, for anyone that gets as confused as we did, it IT free parking at the car park outside the hotel (Even though it says for Red Lion Guests Only) Upon arrival, we walked through the bar area and waited in the reception for the "Lodge" for around 10 minutes, before walking over to the bar and asking to check...

Stayed for 5 nights while helping our daughter and son-in-law to move into a new home. The rooms have been recently refurbished to a good standard, were spotlessly clean, and the beds were very comfortable. We only had the inclusive continental breakfast which suits us and was to the usual Innkeepers Lodge standard with a good choice of items. The...

Interior looks a lot like professional hotel room but you can notice the differences Towels arent that soft to be warned, and rooms are quite hot as our heating was on all night Directly next to the pub so can head downstairs for a pint or breakfast which...

We stayed only one night transitting through and visiting HMS Victory exhibits. We were welcomed by the manager who was very friendly and keen to ensure we were comfortable and happy. His enthusiasm was also reflected in the staff who were equally welcoming. The room is a motel style adjacent to the pub and has been recently refurbished. The beds...

I was there for two nights because I was moving house and the hotel was quite close to my job. Everything but the room is great, but it was just too warm is the room. Honestly, I couldn't sleep during that two nights because of it. They put tea and sugar for you to use and everyone is really nice...

I stayed with my husband on the 14 of October 2015 in this hotel for one night. At first we arrived at 22 pm and everything was closed, no reception, no number, no nothing. We had to knock on the Pub's door for 30 minutes, to find a person, not very happy to see us saying that they were closed,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ian and the team welcome you to the Red Lion Hotel. A pub and 16 bedroom hotel located near to Cosham train station, Queen Alexander Hospital, and a short drive to Portsmouth town centre. Above all we pride ourselves on being the friendliest pub in Cosham! Everyone is welcome! Our rooms are all en suite with double or twin beds. We have a free wi fi service for those with laptop PCs; signal is stronger on the ground floor. The rooms have recently been completely refurbished including new Hypnos 1000 spring beds, bringing people back again and again. Breakfast is served from 07:30 to 09:30 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 10:00 on the weekends. The pub downstairs provides breakfasts and meals. Meals are available all day from the pubs extensive menu. The pub has the full sky sports package - though there's no need to worry about noise as the hotel is located on a different wing in the building. We suggest you try to book early as we are normally full Monday to Friday. ... more   less
