Iz and I tend to drop by for a cool one when bundu bashing with friends in the local area. I have never stayed over but I have eaten here with friends, watched Zulu dancing with relatives and even had a bulls night here a few years ago... enough said about that Lyndon! It is a must see, visit and...

We were wondering how going to a film set would turn out but it was a great mixture of 1850s Zululand and modern day hotel. We were escorted in and about by ethnic performers that gave us a feel for the times and customs

The staff are amazing, the food acceptable and the experience and setting fabulous. But the hotel and rooms are in dire need of renovation and for the price we expected more. This used to be an amazing hotel .

Took the day visit to Shakaland to breath the fresh country air and revel in the Zulu tradition and dynasty history. It was a very educative , eye opening experience on the history of one of the greatest African empires and on its founder and cult hero King Shaka ;his tales of bravado, exploits and military genius. The guides were...

It's better/advisable for one to do a day visit to the place and/or even an outing in the evening for the Zulu dance show(s) but definitely not worth the money charged for a stay there. Rather opt for nearby B&Bs/Guest Houses. The rates charged not worth the experience of a stay there.

We visited Shakaland with a group. The experience was wonderful and the people so friendly, warm and welcoming. The rooms and facilities are lovely and just need a face lift. This is an important piece of our history and culture and so very important to share with our children and the world. The property is tired and needs financial and...

Recommended to start the journey in this nice atmosphere; really good intro to Zululand; great place. Normally guests spend only one night and attend an evening performance and a morning event. But we staeyd 2 nights to enjoy and relax the atmosphere and had a perfect start of our journey through Kwa Zulu Natal.

We arrived in the late afternoon, had an excellent dinner, walked around the site, and had a good night's rest. The next day our scheduled activities were very interesting and gave us much insight into the Zulu life, culture, customs, food, and daily living. Highly recommend this to everyone! Good gift shop, too, with reasonable prices.

Once upon a time this might have been ok but it is very sadly dated. Rooms are dark, there is no air conditioning, queen beds only. Wait until they renovate (if they ever do) to visit. The Zulu show and tours are quite interesting, but the huts are zero to one star ..
