Run by a wonderful family John & Christine can not do enough for you. I stay at least 5 times per year. Both the breakfast and Sunday lunch have the wow factor. Plenty of places to visit, you have the smallest train in the country opposite the howey, You can catch the train to Dymchurch and the beautiful blue flag...

Very friendly family run establishment. Rooms fine, clean and functional, lovely and warm. Excellent breakfast, well cooked with top ingredients. Nice bar - downside no real ale. The outside looks a little off-putting, could do with freshening up. Don't let this put you off, the inside is fine. Recommended, would stay again.

Thanks very much for your kind remarks, but I do need to pick you up on one point. We have two real ales on our bar at all times. At this moment we have Courage Best and Doombar, both which are very popular with our customers. I hope we see you again on another visit, at which time I'll get...

Having stayed at this hotel last year, we decided to rebook. Excellent choice, warm room, fresh towels, very clean. Breakfast was excellent, fresh tomatoes and proper tasty sausages, not rubbish that you would normally get. If anyone decided to stay in Romney, I would suggest this hotel. Can't fault it!!

We stayed for one night just after Christmas. We were shown to our original room but the lady didn't think the room had been cleaned and so she instantly showed us to another room which was perfect. Large, clean and had everything we needed. We decided to go out to the local chinese for something to eat and the bartender...

I booked a table here for the birthday of a relative and the staff were very accommodating with the time I wanted. We all had a roast dinner and it was delicious, especially the cauliflower cheese. They cater for vegetarians and pescatarians. The staff also decorated the table which was unexpected but very welcome. I will definitely be returning.

No complaints at all regarding the Captain Howey. Pleasant staff. Rooms fine. Breakfast good apart from a muddle over white or brown toast, but hey, no problem. Located right next to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch miniature railway station. We would have no problem staying here again.

Five of us stayed at the hotel last night and left after breakfast this morning. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and bathroom facilities fine. We didn't use the bar but we noticed a choice of real ales, contrary to one reviewer's comments. Breakfast was excellent - we each had exactly what we wanted. The staff were friendly and efficient. It...

I came to New Romney to see a friend and did the usual internet searches to find accommodation and this place was not easy to find at all. I'm glad I did persevere as this place is everything I was looking for. The ambience was lovely and relaxing and the staff were very friendly, attentive and really made you feel...

“If you want interconnecting rooms, rooms 2 and 3 are a great option. Make sure you ring ahead and ask them to put the radiators on a little in advance. Rooms are nice and toasty once warm but when not in use I guess the heating is not switched on.”
