Excellent hospitality- no fuss and yet everything you could want- helpful staff, great food in the restaurant, comfy bar with pool table and completely sufficient beverage list. Prices are good too. Restaurant becomes a cafe during the day and there is seating inside and out. The whole service area is very attractive and welcoming. Our studio room was great- kitchenette,...

Ed and Tania make the traveller feel totally at home in a friendly relaxed environment. They have an onsite masseur who can relieve aching joints. Ed cooked the best whitebait fritters ever and Tania easily organized a car for me when I found myself stranded due to the weather. Karamea is a blissful place to spend a weekend at least.

We were in a Lodge Studio. It was perfectly adequate for our needs with plenty of room but fairly basic. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. Comfy chairs were provided for relaxing in the evening but no TV. There was a strong "musty" smell when we entered and it became obvious that was coming from...

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Wasnt really expecting much from Karamea and this place was clean and had friendly staff. We stopped in early on the way to the Oparara basin and were able to leave our bags at the reception. Really handy to have the restaurant attached.

I stopped on my way to do the Heaphy track for breakfast. The waitress gave no welcome other than," what would you like" My meal was put in the middle of the table with silence and she walked away The food was very uninspiring and bland

Clean, comfortable motel type room at almost the end of the trail. Friendly service, with a restaurant providing tasty, standard NZ fare and generous "Beach" scene bar just across the gravel drive. Perhaps we were early, but the breakfast service was a bit sketchy - seemed to improve as the staff came on duty.

This was our fourth stay at the last resort in 11 years, and probably the last. The unit was a typical mid range NZ motel. it was quite spacious, but spartanly furnished. Despite the large space there was no proper table and chairs, only a sort of a breakfast bar with two barstools wit different heights. The front entry was...

This TripAdvisor listing is about the lodging, but I am reviewing the restaurant only. We ate here two nights while staying in Karamea to do some hiking nearby. The food was ok, but nothing special. I had fish and chips one night, which was decent and a lot of food. There was a small salad. The other night my husband...

We had 10 rooms booked and arrived on our bikes in the rain to be warmly welcomed by the very lovely Tania. She patiently put up with the male bravado in our team and nothing was a problem. The rooms were great and the atmosphere of the whole place was really refreshing and it had an appeal like its own...
