At the end of the earth well not quite as far as you can go but the end of civilisation at the top of the west coast South Island that’s for sure! The Last Resort is well looked after & enthusiastically providing great food at sensible prices and great portions with a variety of different styles of accommodation by the...

stopped off at 11.30 and waitress allowed us to order lunch even though we were supposed to wait until 12. Even gave us free WIFI access. Spent an hour there, really just escaping from the rain, but didn't feel rushed at all. Comfortable surroundings, good fish n chips and excellent Whitebait

We stayed 2 days at the Last Resort in Karamea as part of a bike tour. The hotel itself is fine, the restaurant is average. Our room was spacious enough. For dinner, we ordered chicken satay, which ended being fried cutlets with a peanut gravy. Our other entree was a vegetarian dish that was overcooked. For breakfast, we could tell...

We stayed 3 nights at the Last Resort, Karamea, in a studio ensuite rooms. There is a variety of accommodation options in this business. The studio ensuite rooms are basic wallpaper, and fittings (nothing fancy), it had all we wanted. The rooms were very large. When I had teething problems with the common washing machine, the host was very helpful...

We drove up from Christchurch over Arthur's pass and then up the West Coast to Karamea and were blown away by the spectacular scenery and excellent roads. The Last Resort did not disappoint and we were welcomed by the staff and the chef convinced us to try the wait bait Pattie. It was delicious and we decided to have dinner...

Enjoyed the unique lodging accommodation - bight and airy with skylights. Much of the structure comes from reclaimed and locally made items that are earth friendly - very cool, and much thought put into everything. We arrived fairly late and wanted to leave early in the morning to get in a full day of tramping in the Oparara Basin, so...

We were in one of the motel type rooms. The main room and bathroom were very spacious and the kitchenette facilities were all we needed as we dined in The Last Resort dining room both evenings . The food was wonderful and the prices good. The staff were friendly and helpful - we were most impressed

My wife and I only stopped here for lunch as we were passing and we were surprised at the quality and price of the food on offer. We had brought lunch most days while traveling up and down the west coast and found that for such an isolated place is was the best value of our trip

We had lunch here - we each had the burgers - some chicken and some beef, which were well presented and consistently good. The food was fresh, and the coffee excellent. Service good and fast, environment good, recommend. Open all day for food, accommodation available.

We stayed here on our photography tour and the rooms were well set out and spacious. They were clean and tidy and exactly what was needed at the end of long days exploring the beautiful countryside in this area. The internet works well here and has a good limit available in the room rate. Probably the best internet we had...
