Kelly and her family had made our stay an amazing and unique experience. Starting with the day we booked, our arrival and duration there, they were all professional, friendly and welcoming. We stayed as a family in two teepees. What an amazing stay! The teepees were spacious, clean, comfortable and cozy. You can tell a lot of love and effort was put into the design and comfort of these teepees. From the comfy mattress and pillows, to the clean bedsheets and towels including toiletries. Each of the teepees had its own air conditioner, heater and fan. Bathroom and kitchenette were shared with other teepees, but they were always clean and we got everything needed to make a great stay. We were welcomed with a s’mores kit and tour of the amenities. Highly recommend if you are looking for an unforgettable experience getaway with a location close to everything (Bridal Fall, Providence Bay, Gore Bay, Cup and Saucer hiking trial, ..etc). They would consistently check in on us throughout our stay and were willing to answer our many questions about the area. Thank you!

My husband and I had couple days on Manitoulin and this was definitely the place that made our trip memorable! Kelly and Jason have thought of everything! The rustic and vintage decor and welcoming environment were second to none. They were feeding 16 guests in the morning for breakfast but you wouldn't notice since it was seamless and delicious. Kelly took time and interest in her guests as she made sure everyone had the exact breakfast they had ordered. Jason was helpful in making sure we knew what to explore in the area. We would recommend to anyone.

Just left from a two day stay at this beautiful B&B. The place was everything it advertised and more. The rooms were spacious and well decorated and the bed was very, very comfortable. We had a 3 course homemade breakfast each morning which was everything you could want. The best part were Kelly and Mercedes their smiles and service made the stay perfect. Highly recommend this place if staying Manitoulin Island

An incredible find in Kagawong in Manitoulin Island. The Carter House is elegant while also being comfortable and relaxed. The room are beautifully restored, spotlessly clean with luxurious bedding. The breakfast offered a ton of choices and was always delicious. Kelly is a wonderful host and makes you feel at home as soon as you step through the door.

Kagawong has some hiking trails and other attractions. Its also an easy drive away for other towns, making the Carter House a central location for travelling around Manitoulin

Highly recommended!

This is a perfect B & B! Gorgeous setting with 123 year old home surrounded by hollyhocks and ferns in a lovely small town famous for its waterfall, just across the steet! Add to that a beautiful and warm common area with cozy couches and a TV for those who want it. Plus the fantastic appointed room, great beds and pillows and linens with very modern en suite, soft cozy towels and a cuddly robe as well.

What more could you ask for? Well, on top of all that you have Kelly and Jason as hosts! Two wonderful people who make one feel at home while serving a tasty and brilliantly presented hot breakfast or just having a chat.

Would we go back? In a flash!

We recently stayed at The Carter House and it was fantastic! Kelly and Jason welcomed us in like family. The room was comfortable and quiet, the linens beautiful, crisp and clean. The food was plentiful and very good, we were all set for the day after eating breakfast! Kelly and Jason were very helpful with ideas how to spend our days and always asked about our day upon our return. We will definitely stay at The Carter House again.

An amazing experience staying in the teepees! The comfy beds and robes along with the great breakfast in the morning made for a relaxing stay. We also encountered a few deer who stopped by to greet us as well! We highly suggest if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway!

Everything the other reviewers have written is spot on. Kelly greeted me as if an old friend.. very friendly. I couldn't think of a nicer place to stay, either here on the island, or anywhere. Just felt like being at home.

The new Manitoulin Teepee accommodation at The Carter House is amazing! We stayed in The Eagle’s Nest, tucked among the trees behind the B&B. With a comfortable Queen bed, lovely crisp linens, a duvet and a lovely fleece blanket, we were cozy and warm. There is a “conversation set” with two chairs, a foot stool and a small table, as well as a gate-legged table with two stools. Two luggage racks are also included in the living space. In the evening I sat on the deck reading and enjoying the quiet space. We spotted a doe and her fawn right outside our “door”, and heard deer moving in the late evening - likely cleaning up apples from the tree on the edge of the property. Each Teepee has electrical outlets, as well as USB charging ports. Ours also had a fan, a heater and two bedside lamps.

Teepee guests have access to two well-maintained barbecues, as well as a small (but well-stocked) kitchen “bunkie” with a full fridge, microwave, utensils and an assortment of dishes. There is room in the kitchen for guest coolers, and the sink area is clean and well maintained with all supplies. The “Shower-House / Washroom” area is located at the back of this bunkie. There are two private washrooms in this new addition to the property, each with sink, toilet and a shower. These are clean and tidy. Towels and complimentary shower toiletries are provided in a bag in each Teepee.

We checked in and chose to eat our supper picnic-style at one of the on-site picnic tables located around the property. It was a great spot! There is also a campfire area with seating, as well as equipment to roast hotdogs or marshmallows. Guests also have access to the parlour in the house, which has comfortable furniture and a wall-mounted tv.

After we were settled, Jason brought us a breakfast menu / order form, with instructions to make our choices and leave them in the guest kitchen before turning in. Guests have five options for breakfast, including Eggs Benedict, a Two-Egg Breakfast, a bagel with smoked salmon, hot cereal or French Toast. Breakfast is served at The Carter House, either in the dining room or on the covered porch. We chose the porch, overlooking the gardens. Kelly started us off with a lovely, fresh out of the oven puff pastry filled with fruit and cream cheese, followed by a fresh fruit plate, then juice and our FreshToast with Crispy Bacon. Breakfast was complimented by good coffee from the self-serve coffee bar in the dining room. While I am familiar with the village, I could hear her talking to other guests about things to see and do in the area.

Jason and Kelly are excellent hosts, and have thought of a myriad of little details that make staying with them an absolutely perfect experience. They both go out of their way to make their guests feel welcome.

I would definitely recommend Manitoulin Teepees as a way to experience a night under the stars with all the comforts of a bed & breakfast.
