Sneaky hotel

Our stay at the hotel was really let-down by a few experiences. Firstly, upon checkout the hotel tried to charge me for things I didn't request ; €5 for internet and €1 charity donation. Only when I queried them the apologised and refunded me. Secondly the head board had not been cleaned as I wiped my finger and it was covered in dust. Thirdly the toilet flush was broke and we had to make a couple of phonecalls to reception to fix. Next, the alarm next to the bed went off a couple of times in the middle of the night which woke us up. After the second time we had to take out the batteries. All these things should have been checked by the hotel before we arrived. It was a shame as it is a really nice hotel set in a beautiful location. You don't expect these issues from a top 5 star hotel, they need to do better- and my first point regarding the sneaky charges left a sour taste in our mouths. Regards, Alain…

Very scenic resort

We enjoyed our stay here. We had a view of cloister and it was so peaceful. The rooms are very comfortable. Decor and style is a tad dated but still works. Common areas are nice. Pool options are amazing. Wish outdoor pools were heated. We are at LAB and meal was amazing! Breakfast buffet at hotel was OK. Just like any large hotel. Bathtub in room is tiny.

Wonderful stay!

Me and my husband cannot be more pleased and happy with our stay. Such a beautiful place, green, peaceful, very clean and taken care. Everything and everyone make the guests feel so comfortable and welcomed. The resort itself has a beautiful outdoor and indoor pool and jacuzzi, several restaurants with amazing food. Room was so big and everything was spot on. Staff very very nice and welcoming. We would like to say a big thank you to Nayara that did our check in and was very kind and professional also she was with us on the breakfast and was very attentive and helpful. Also João Chambel ( I think that was the last name) was super nice and helpful, such a great help with info about the resort and other places around! We felt like home! Thank you guys!

In one word: perfection

We can’t really say enough amazing things about this resort. It’s simple perfect. They know exactly what to do and they do it perfect. The staff are beyond nice, everyone cares and want to help/ assist/ make sure you are happy. The rooms are gorgeous and clean, again, perfection. They think about everything here, truly a piece of heaven. The food here is incredible, we all loved it, even my picky child, they accommodate all the time and she ate great here. We are the Ritz Carlton Platinum members and we have been in many Ritz hotels around the world, in addition, I am super picky, I believe that this is the best one of all. We are sad to leave and can’t wait to return. So many people were so nice and helpful and I wish I could remember their names but really, they are all super nice and welcoming. Highly recommended!!!!! …

Hello, I am planning to visit 5 days on February. Can you tell me if there are any activities that can be done ? Is the pool heated ? (I believe February is a little bit cold)

We visited in early January and the outdoor pool area was not set up for use, I assume the pool is not heated. They have a very nice indoor pool in the spa. I'd contact the hotel for activities although they do offer some outstanding, high-end dining. Staff is outstanding, you will enjoy your stay The resort is located close enough to the shore line to visit a beach and other attractions over looking the water. Like you, we were in Porto before Sintra and we stayed in Sintra at the end of our trip so we would be close to the airport. Sintra is within reach of Lisbon and many historical sites. I found UTube has some very helpful videos which gave us enough information to decide where to visit and offered some advice from those that travel more than I do. It also showed us what the local like which was great especially for food and drink. We had a rental car in Sinta and be aware that the roads are narrow and many are one way, makes it a little more challenging if you are not used to that type of driving. We tried to use trains or Uber as much as possible.

We will be coming from Porto and are wondering what sites you recommend we see in the surrounding area. Should we stop in Obidos and Coimbra on our way or are there other places you recommend? We are also going to Lisbon after leaving Sintra. Can the hotel help us plan day tours or should we do that ourselves?

I personally absolutely recommend to stay in Penha Longa because you can see Sintra, it is only 30 km to Lisbon, to Cascais. There are many places to see if you stay in that gorgeous Penha Longa which by itself is in my list "must see" + "must feel". And I am sure that the hotel has top level concierge service which will help you to schedule your trips and sightseeing.
