We were in Wolong in Dec 2005 and during the three hour drive from Chendu, our guide asked why we were going in the winter, as the hotel didn't have heat. What ? I guess we never thought to ask that basic question. When we arrived that evening, the temperature was already below freezing and it ended up going down...

firstly, this place is mighty cold in Jan, the hotel is having major refurbishments, so the outside temperture and the inside temperature including the rooms is freezing!!!!! Stayed here just 1night, hotel was literally empty except for 2 other couples. The bathroom tiled floor was so cold it was literally like walking on ice barefoot. Bathroom was ok, having a...

The drive from Chengdu is something else along some terrible roads. The hotel was cold. The food was only Chinese, even for breakfast. We couldn't find how to get any alcohol. But...the trip and stay there were worth it for the scenery and most of all, for the Panda reserve. This was one of the highlights of our holiday, so...

This is an awful hotel but sadly it is the best one to stay at to see the pandas. So it is about the pandas and not the hotel. There is a lot of building going on at the hotel and by the looks of it the building works are pretty terrible. There is damp in the hallways on the...

We were on a weekend trip, dedicated solely to seeing Pandas, both in Chengdu and up at the Panda preserve. Given that Wolong is countryside, I wasn't expecting much. The hotel currently caters primarily to tour groups, local, Asian and Western. Check-in and check-out is fairly efficient. The rooms are simple, clean and functional (haha, the toilets are not squats)....

We stayed in this hotel while waiting to visit the Panda Reserve. The hotel felt cold and there was a lot of building work being carried out. We were allocated a room on the second floor, it was a basic room and had two twin beds and a bathroom. The beds had a lovely warm underblanket which was switched on,...

having read reviews of this hotel on here previously, it was with some trepidation that I walked into this hotel - I was on a group holiday to work at the panda reserve. I was really pleasantly surprised, I've just read through some of the reviews before posting again, and can't agree with some of the comments. The reception area...

We stayed in this hotel as it is close to the Wolong Panda Breeding Centre. Hotel accommodation in the area is very limited. The journey to Wolong from Chengdu was a bit tough as the road is still being built. It took us five and a half hours, but we met someone who was on the road for 13 hours....

As of May 2007, Wolong Hotel is about 5 hrs drive from Chengdu due to the road condition. But don't let that discourage your from getting up there to see the pandas, many big tour buses still drive up there full of tourists! The hotel is very simple, we got 2 twins bed and it was a little too firm...

We stayed at the Wolong Hotel when I went to volunteer with the Pandas at the Wolong Research center. PResently, there are only 2 hotels in the area, the Panda Inn and this hotel. Clearly alot nicer than the Panda Inn, the Wolong Hotel prides itself on its 4 star rating. I found everything to be centered around Pandas, which...
