Not a single detail overlooked in easily one of the, if not THE, most casual and comfortable treasures in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. The Orchid Tree in Atenas is strategically ideal for those travelers who like to have the best of both worlds: the B&B is located just off highways 3 and 27, which both take you to...

Once we found this little gem we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. The rooms were comfy. Some rooms did not have air but being up in the hillside, the air was pleasantly cool and an air conditioner wasn't needed. The owners go out of their way to make you feel at home. We arrived tired from a...

Recently my wife Pam and I spent a week at the Orchid Tree. This was our second trip to Costa Rica. Our first was 13 years ago and it was the "resort" experience. This trip we wanted to experience the local scene. We chose Atenas after researching climate, attractions that were within driving distance and away form the tourist hot...

Gracious hosts Pat and Brad (not to mention Josef and Buddy!) literally open up their living room to you: the common area for sitting, eating, reading, conversing is as cozy as a living room but is actually a patio, since it has no walls, only a roof. Great for rainy afternoons. Pat and Brad fed us well, offered good sight-seeing...

This is a B&B that proves that a guest experience is really defined by the hospitality and not the linens, the pool, etc. These hosts really understand how to make a guest feel welcome. Staying at B&Bs affords the unique experience of feeling part of somebody's home -- when the hosts are as welcoming as these, it's a magical experience...

After a very long flight we were given a warm welcome from Brad and Pat. They both went out of their way to help in every way possible. The rooms were cozy and clean. The pool was fantanstic and the grounds were tranquil. Breakfast was of high quality and very tasty. This is the perfect place to stop over upon...

Great alternative to staying in the city. We arrived in the evening and needed a place to spend the night before heading to Manuel Antonio. It’s a short drive outside of San Jose (~20 minutes) and Brad picked us up at the airport for a small fee. With the cost of transport, it was a little more than staying at...

Upon arriving in CR, we stayed one night at Orchid Tree before departing for Monteverde. It was the perfect place to stay. The B&B is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. The grounds and accommodations were beautiful as was the food and our hosts. Would definitely recommend it.

Having enjoyed our first visit to the Orchid Tree so much, we wanted to spend a little bit of time on our second visit to Costa Rica relaxing here before flying home. The Orchid Tree is the definition of relaxation! Pat & Brad are tremendous hosts and a virtual well of helpful information. The breakfasts, the rooms, the pool and...

Brad and Pat were wonderful! I was traveling alone without a car, and they offered to drive me several times during my stay. Breakfast was great; my room comfortable. My only wish was that it was closer to town. I highly recommend Orchid Tree!
