The hotel is very traditional in a beautiful location where it is lovely and quiet. The restaurant downstairs is delicious and affordable. The only downside is the mosquitos that come in at night time and cannot be avoided when it is warm due to there being no air conditioning and as with the rest of Europe no fly screens on... More

This is amazing hotel, a real find. Its approach is via a long drive leading to a large gravel court yard. The building is beautiful, almost something out of the hey day of British Indian. On one side there is a large lake fed by two small rivers, just a lovely setting with outdoor seats facing the lake. The hotel has... More

We spend a night in this hotel on our trip from Portugal to Holland. Unfortunately we have not been able to explore the surroundings, but nevertheless we were impressed by the hotels atmosphere. Hotel staff at reception, restaurant and breakfast was very friendly. The hotel room complete with a good bathroom. Wireless internet of good quality throughout. We were most... More

This Hotel is worth a detour. We have visited Lakeland Hotels of a similar type - Miller Howe, Holbeck Ghyll, Sharrow Bay - for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and this was almost as good as those, all of which are my idea of Heaven. However this was half the price! The situation is lovely, the staff are very friendly &... More

Other reviews of this hotel have things pretty much spot on. The Hotel itself is about a kilometre from the main road and set on the bank of a river. The view is pretty good and there is an abundance of bird-life.The reception staff are friendly and their English is fine. Then........ although ours was the only car on the... More

From the time I began planning a three week trip in Germany, France and Spain, I looked forward to staying at this hotel. I was not disappointed. What a charming environment it has, with a sense of leisure and pleasure. The restaurant is top notch, which is essential to me. Breakfast: indifferent with a rather unpleasant and unkempt woman fussing... More

We stayed here for two nights in August. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist (English, who was able to deal with our questions. We were in a room that overlooked the river with a good sized balcony. I would agree with other reviews, the rooms were outdated especially the bathroom which I must add was also very... More

We found this hotel by chance, when driving past and loved it - especially out of season, as we had it almost to ourselves but we would love to go back in the summer and swim in the river outside

Can't understand how this place got 3* rating. The setting on the banks of the River L'isle is lovely and the building is attractive and imposing but the rooms are pretty ordinary, as are the bathrooms and are more 2* than 3*. I guess it gets away with it because of the setting. About 1km from the main road, it... More
