#1 of 3 B&Bs / Inns in Saint-Just-en-Chevalet
I'm an old lady, over 400 years old, living in St Just-en-Chevalet, in the Loire in the Rhône-Alpes region of France. My old age means I have needed a facelift together with local artisans and architects of Bâtiments de France.I received Cedric and Alicia within my walls, which they have restored with the utmost care. There are 5 bedrooms including a duplex and a suite, each with their own organic bed linen, their en-suite bathrooms and WC. However, they have kept the historic atmosphere, which makes me a property out of the ordinary that allows you to travel through time. They have even thought about your vehicles with private indoor parking, enclosed shelter and workshop for motorbikes.Cedric and Alicia have provided wooden games to while away the time either in your room or in front of the fire in my cozy public rooms.Feel free to come and wander in my walled parkland, laze by the pond or discover my wildlife.

We only stayed for one night. I wish it had been longer. The building is quirky, original, amazing, I could go on and on. Each room is titled from a different part of the world and decorated accordingly. We slept in the French room. The room was large, clean and well decorated. There was a sofa, antique furniture and a comfortable bed with cotton sheets & duvet. We recommend eating in-house. Cedric and wife are excellent hosts and the family eat with you. There were, including other guests, 10 of us sat around a large dining table, after drinks and canapés in the garden. It was such an interesting evening and we spoke about so many topics. The garden is large with a pond, a hammock and the open barns have garden furniture you can use. There is plenty of parking. The area is peaceful, beautiful countryside with walks surrounds you.

This is more a B&B than a hotel. It has individual style and a curious mix of interesting and extremely well planned and designed rooms and suites. Each room has a different theme with a carefully and brilliantly designed motif. The beds are comfortable and there is a lovely sense of domestic grandeur. The host is helpful and makes his own jam...delicious. The occasional rooms are well appointed, homely and very comfortable. There is even a kiddies room with some interesting game tables dating back to before electronic bing, bong, bing. Views are wonderful and very rural. Resting in a quiet village, it is just a great place to stay.

This gite just outside centre of St. Just-en-Chevalet is a treat. With five rooms, delicately decorated, you are sure to feel comfortable. Breakfast for all guests around the same table creates an atmosphere that may scare some, but overall this is way ahead of many hotels we have visited.

We were looking for a place to stay on our way to Geneva from the beaches, and found this lovely gem just off the main highway. Its beautifully and lovingly restored old Knights Inn in a small and friendly French town, there are restaurants in town, also you can eat at the hotel, the owners are really lovely people and the game room is the best we have ever experienced. Really was worth the trip, this hotel is a great value, very clean and safe and beautifully appointed. Dont miss it!

My wife and 2 year old daughter I and our two friends stayed here for 3 nights and It was incredible! We were met with smiles and were welcomed into the lovely beautifully restored mansion. It's got a real authentic feel however it feels cosy and warm. We stayed in the French themed room which was quiet and relaxing. The shower was beautiful and the bed was divine. The food was world class thanks to Cedrik and Alicia. We've experienced taste sensations we've never had before in any of our travels! Well worth the price paid! The location is in a beautiful, quiet and friendly villiage. We felt relaxed, renewed and enjoyed the walks through the countryside. The accommodation has friendly sheep, goats, chickens and a cat which is always entertaining...not to mention the ponds and goldfish. Perfect for our two year old. They have beautifully renovated the stable as an evening dining/relaxing area perfect for conversation or a night cap. In summary this was a truly magical experience set in the heart of the countryside. We're so glad we got to see this part of the country and there is no doubt we'll return.
