If you can, don’t choose this hotel. The first problem came when I told the owner of this hotel (Kostas) that we would not be renting a car from his company. He was very angry at us. So that we don't have to look at his angry face all week, we canceled the reservation with a fee of 30 € and we choose his rental company. That’s why I sent him message: "I will come at the hotel in an hour and we will make a deal with you about rent a car. When I came back and checked my wallet I couldn’t believe my eyes. One 100€ banknote from my wallet was missing. At the moment I finally understood why the safe was not working. I'm 100% sure because my father and I split the 1000 € (500 and 500) before our trip to Corfu and I didn't pay anything until then. The only person who was in my room was the cleaning lady or someone from the staff. I tried ask the cleaning lady but she didn’t give me anything back and she pretended that she can’t speak English. Immediately I tried solve this problem with Kostas but he he kept repeating that he believed in his staff. He even cheekily asked me if my sister, who was in the room with me, had stolen the money. He pissed me off. Are you serious? Why would my sister steal money? Another his argument was that we telling stories. Oh come on! Why would we do that? Me and my mother are teachers. Why would we make it up? We are normal family. We wanted to enjoy our vacation, instead we were robbed on the first day. Final advice = don’t use Kostas’s car for transport from airport to the hotel. You have to pay him 50 € for transport + 50 € from hotel to the airport at last day. The way it works is that guests who end their stay bring the car to the airport. Guests who arrive will pick it up again and so on and on. Hotel’s owner only collects hight fees for this service. Taxi is better and cheaper option. On the other hand, Corfu is a beautiful island. However, choose another hotel.

We stayed at the Penelope Hotel for 4 nights. Kostas and his family run the hotel as well as the Boukari Beach Taverna which is a leisurely 10 min walk along the coastal path - well worth a visit! The hotel itself is simple and good value. We had a studio room which included a fridge, cooking facilities and a bit more room than the standard rooms. The hotel has a pool which was great for a cooling dip after a day exploring the South of Corfu. There is also some great walking to be done directly from the hotel. We walked to Petriti & Notos Beach and enjoyed a lovely lunch one day. On another we followed a steep path all the way up to Chlomos which is a beautiful village with the most amazing views of the coast and beyond. Most all of it is Kostas and his staff that really make this hotel what it is. Nothing is ever too much for them. Kostas was a great source of information and guidance. He also has cars & bikes to rent and knows just about anything you need to know. Thank you Kostas for a really great few days.

My family and I stayed at Penelope for a week, and we had a nice time, but there were a few things that could be improved. The GOOD: - The rooms are spacious; - The beds are comfortable; - There is a free pickup from the airport if the stay is longer than 7 days; - During the day, if you want to stay at the hotel, you can order a small lunch (pizza, greek salad, toast, omelette) and it's quite good; - Very close to the sea, to one shop and to several restaurants; - The area is delightful, quiet and peaceful. - The swimming pool was never too busy; - You can rent a car and go on many activities/trips from there; - The air conditioning worked well. - There are free-to-use inflatables in the swimming pool. The BAD: - DON'T pay for HALF BOARD! Their restaurant is 20 minutes away, which is not a pleasant walk in the summer heat! There are plenty of better restaurants very close to the hotel (Kalami was the best, but they were all quite good). - The shower in the room leaked outside the cubicle; - The air conditioning leaked water on our balcony; - No-one every cleaned under the beds; - The swimming pool wasn't very clean one day. My skin got irritated and a guest got an earache; - There is a pool bar, but there is never anyone in it, so the guests were just serving themselves and writing what they had on a piece of paper. We made our own cocktails, but we still ended up paying them full price; - We paid full price for them driving us back to the airport, even though the hotel driver was going there anyway to pick up a guest that was arriving at the same time.

So, after a family tradegy, I needed to get away, by myself, to relax and recharge my mind, body and spirit. I wanted quiet, pre-season and a family run place. Kostas is above and beyond any host I've ever met, like his brother Sophocles. Together, with their siblings and parents, they run a small, laid back, intimate hotel, where NOTHING is too much; the best restaurant 800mtrs down the road and the easiest car hire going. Mamas cooking at Boukari Beach Restaurant, from the Octopus to Sea Bass, Sardines to huge grilled Prawns (Langoustine), is fabulous. When I 1st arrived Corfu was just starting to open up and very little was open. Kostas looked after me, made me feel like family and constantly made sure I was OK. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the south of Corfu and all over Corfu of course, and it was such a privilege to see so much of the Island, with so few tourists. As I left, Corfu was filling up and after 2 years of no travelling, this was THE best way to introduce myself back to freedom!!! Next time, I'll bring all the family with me to the beautiful Penelope Hotel and the beautiful Kostas and his family. Blessed Love and Peace. ❤💛💚

The owner Kostos is very hospitable and can see to all your requirements. Advise you to book directly and hire a car when required as the airport car hire is very expensive. Book the car hire with Kostos ahead of time. Recommend eating at the family seafood restaurant that is 800metres up the coast. We had delicious fresh seafood there every night. Room is basic. Area is lovely. Breakfast is not impressive.

This property is exceedingly isolated, which can be both a strength as well as a weakness. For instance, exchange money at the airport, because once you get to the hotel, there is nowhere to get euros. There is truly nothing save for two markets, and 1/2 dozen fish restaurants right on the water. You can go stir-crazy without a rental car, as you are in the middle of nowhere. But maybe that’s why you come: to escape the madness of everyday life. WiFi connection can be spotty, so be prepared. It doesn’t stay down for long, but the signal is not strong. As for the markets: Peris Market is directly across the street; Market Boukari is 20m down the street, and their water is 1/2 the price of Peris. You don’t want to drink / brush teeth with the tap water. The breakfast is buffet style, with a very wide variety, and they put different items out on different days. It’s a good breakfast. I highly recommend not leaving your patio door open at night. While the sounds are great, the mosquitoes at night are voluminous. So close the patio door and use the a/c. A couple of matters about the bathroom. TP and hand soap are provided; nothing else is. So be sure to bring shower gel and shampoo. My only complaints regard the shower. The stall is incredibly small, so it’s very difficult to maneuver, and I am thin. For a fuller formed person, it will be a concern. My shower box had only a cloth curtain, so the floor gets rather soaked. Lastly, the hot water only lasts several minutes, so you must shower very quickly. The hotel is only a 50-75m walk down the hill to the beach, which is very rocky, both on the shore and in the water. So bring rubber shoes. There are about 8 lounge chairs with umbrellas at no charge. Overall, I highly recommend this as a place to totally unwind. Owner Kostas can arrange any needs. His constant phrase: “ don’t worry; no problem!” You will be cared for here.

Absolute pleasure to stay at this hotel. Costos and family cannot do enough for their guests. We stayed for 10 days and it was perfect. The family restaurant was a little too far for me to walk (I'm disabled) so Costos took us and someone brought us back each time. We booked direct so a transfer from airport to hotel is complementary. Car hire is available at the hotel but we just wanted to relax and walked to local restaurants. I came home yesterday and would be happy to get on a plane and go back today. Withdrawal symptoms already!

Stayed for one week but wish it was longer. Hotel is amazing. Small and quiet. Kostas and his family are friendly and helpful. Boukari is a quiet resort with a few restaurants. No noisy bars. Beach is narrow and pebbles but crystal clear calm sea. Perfect for a relaxing peaceful break. Many thanks to Kostas and family. Look forward to seeing you again soon.
