This is a small, family run hotel on the front with a restaurant by the sea serving simple but good food. Everyone works so hard - and they were very busy (so food was slow coming - might be better to order in advance?). It is spotlessly clean.

Explored the area from here and our sons surfed.

We had a beautiful view from our balcony.

If I could change two things I would put mattress toppers on the hard beds and serve breakfast in the front room or by the sea.

We slept to the sound of the waves....

We had a superior sea view room (room 103) – these are on the top floor. And the view is definitely superior – we enjoyed watching the waves come crashing in; some might find it noisy! There was a storm when we were there and the balcony door could not quite cope with it – we had some water coming in on the floor. But a towel soon sorted that out.

Costa Linda is nice for a 2-star hotel. The bathroom is spacious. Nice big balcony with a fantastic view. It was cold in the room when we arrived so we used the electric radiator. It took a bit of time for it to heat up the room but when it did it was fine. It also took quite a long time for the hot water in the shower to arrive but you just had to run it for some time – and then it was good. There was an electric kettle and cups so you can make your own coffee.

The restaurant was cold too, so we had to wear a couple of extra layers of clothing. But the restaurant was nice otherwise and the staff friendly.

There is not much to do in Porto da Cruz except enjoy the views and experience the rough northern coast. But we enjoyed our two first nights of our hiking trip here.

Great location! Our room had a balcony facing the sea. Beautiful scenery including the sea water swimming pool. All night long, we could hear the waves. Good bars and restaurants near the hotel. All direct on the beach. Only you do not have sand, here. A big breakfast.

This is a review for the restaurant only.
I went at 9am, the doors were wide open and menus on tables. I asked for an egg sandwich and a tea. They said they were too busy serving hotel guests to make it . They said come back in one hour. I didn’t. There’s a cafe just up the road which is pleased to serve you.

The reception was not occupied, when we arrived at 11.00. We have to wait until 13.00, when the lady came and made the check in for the room 308. This is a terrible room, vue to old mineral bottles, very small and dark room, with a very old bed and old brown blanket, which we have used 50 years ago. When I claimed this room, the lady told me, that this is standard. Most of the others room did have balkony and sea vue. The breakfast has been served at 8.00.

What a lovely place to stay. No frills but sooo amazingly clean. Our room had a sea view and how beautiful to sit on the balcony and watch the sun rise.
Reception staff really helpful.
You can set off for fantastic walks from here taking your hotel picnic with you.
When you get back pop over the road for a local drink or a swim at the sea water pool.

Stayed here for one night on our walking tour of Eastern Madeira. This was a fabulous find - small, comfortable hotel, room with terrace overlooking the sea. Staff very welcoming, and dinner in the restaurant open to non-residents was fantastic, served by a friendly and knowledgeable young waiter. Highly recommend Costa Linda and this small town for a night or two whilst you're in Madeira.

The view from the balcony of our room was hard to beat, overlooking the Atlantic ahead, mountains and the distant coast to the right and the local blue lido embedded in its craggy volcanic pedestal to the left. The setting of the Costa Linda is magnificent and the sound of the waves breaking on the shore is soothing but not intrusive.

The rooms are spotlessly clean but not huge, but there's room enough and there is a comfortable lounge if you need more space. Beware the shower as it's easy to soak the bathroom if you don't moderate the flow a little, but you'll soon get the hang of it. We had three sets of curtains in our room, one was net, one was ornamental but the third was more than enough to keep out the street lights and the bright morning sun.

The staff are most helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to inform and advise you. The food in the restaurant is good, well-presented and reasonably priced. Breakfast will keep you fuelled all day, even if you are an energetic walker.

This is a charming little hotel in a great location which punches well above its star rating.

We stayed for two nights at the Costa Linda and were well suited. It's exactly what it purports to be - clean, in a good location, and with friendly staff.
The bedrooms (we had one with a balcony overlooking the sea) are small but they have all you might need, and downstairs there's a restaurant and bar serving breakfast and an evening meal - if required.
The picnic supplied for our walk from Portela to Santo da Serra was excellent

Lovely hotel that overlooked the beach at Porto Da Cruz, and near the public, sea-water swimming pools on the seafront. Some of the area around the hotel was not much to look at but having a balcony room meant that the views of the bay and cliffs beyond were superb and you ignored the "not so nice" bits. Parking could be challenging as the hotel had none of their own and we were not there in high season. Room was compact but we were only there 2 nights, and we flooded the en-suite every time we had a shower! Breakfast was adequate. Very good value for money.
