We came here as a group of 25 persons and some staff members considered us the perfect target. One of our friend got robbed during the night - 1400 euros, clothes, 2 cell phones and so on, after one of their staff visited all of us in order to ”see if we need something” - and also to see which one is the most vulnerable. Of course, the one who got the single room was the lucky one. After police came, the manager was so inspired to tell the cops ”you should check them, not us. His friends are the guilty ones!” (during this time, her employees vanished). Long story short, we were very disappointed even if this place looks amazing. But do they know ”A good farmer makes a good farm”?

We stayed at this camping on our way from Etosha to Skeleton Coast. This camping was not only the most expensive one of our trip, it was also the worst. Reception staff was unlike at other places in Namibia not friendly. The campsite was green and was equipped with a braai and tap. Toilets and showers were extremely dirty and hardly functional. Across the street is a bar. Music and screaming people kept us awake half the night. The pool area looks very nice and I would strongly recommend the owners to invest more in the campsite and ablutions. I can provide plenty examples of excellent campings.

Response from iGowati, Manager at iGowati Lodge
Responded Jan 9, 2019
Dear Sir, Thank you for the comment you left. We have taken note and will do our best in regards to the complaints you have had. In regards to us being the most expensive camping - I do not think that this is true. Our rate for camping is N$150.00 per person per night. the only other camping in Khorixas charges N$250.00 per person per night and which is almost two times our rate? For the N$150.00 you pay us we provide free wood for your barbeque ( which is the only place as far as we know that wood is free ) Water and electricity at your site. All sites on grass and under shade trees. Our toilets and showers are checked every day and if you would provide me with the date you stayed with us I can get to the people responsible to ensure this does not happen again. We are also planning to upgrade our ablutions this year to more private ablutions at each site. ( a shower/ toilet and washup) If you stayed over Christmast or new year there would definitely have been noice during the night. Normally Khorixas is quiet at night but we do sometimes have problems with noise. We have a good relationship with the police and they keep people quiet after 10 at night. Please be assured that we do our best to keep standards up and service good. Our reception personel is normally also very friendly so we will check with them. kind regards, Management

Previous reviews found rooms unkempt Our experience was of comfortable bed, good linen, clean tiled bathroom, plumbing working well and loved the mosquito netting. There ws no air-con but a pedestal fan was available. Dining room, lounge deck and pool are all contiguous..comfortable and clean. Food well cooked and presented, with 2 choices for starter, msin and dessert. Khorixas is the end of the tar-seal. Although situated on the main road, there is no dust, and very quiet at night.

I really liked the room at the iGowati Lodge. It wasn't fancy, but it was very African. The bathroom was good here too. There was no aircon in the room however a fan kept me cool during the night. Wifi is available, but very weak so most website didn't load.

The Lodge is nice, rooms are nice, staff are friendly and food is good. Bearing in mind that a double room is 480NAD and that there is nothing else in town to really write about, I found this place pleasant and will gladly return. Springbuck walking outside the restaurant was nice to watch. Like a little oasis in an almost desert like area.

The hotel was nice. WiFi worked on reception and even room . Beds was very clean and comfy to sleep . Listening nature sounds . Food was tasty but too slow serve . Water in shower was not hot enough but maybe 30c max . Territory was nice and cute green and made with love . I think is good place to stay for one night . Could wit harder to make it cleaner I think but in general nice

We stayed there for one night on a trip from Cape Town to Victoria Falls with Nomad Tours and for one night it is okay. We had a spacious room with an extra bed on the first floor. The room was rather dark and dusty especially the mosquito net needed a good wash but the linen was clean but the bed was much too hard for my taste. Our tour guide advised us against keeping the windows open because of risks of break-in though the room was rather hot as there was neither air-condition nor a fan in the room. We asked for a fan and got one which helped a lot. We had dinner and breakfast by the bus so we don’t know about the quality of the restaurant. There is a small pool which is rather nice. Free and very slow Wi-Fi in the reception.

While traveling all over Namibia I recently stopped at Igowati Lodge. It is a great stop when traveling between Skeleton Coast or Swakop and Etosha. The food is good and the bar is lively in this very small town. There is wildlife throughout this area, therefore be careful when driving. I drove through a herd of Elephants during the night as I drove into town. These are good kind people and they will be very helpful as you continue on your trip.

The rooms were fine, but apart from that not very enthousiastic about this place. Their website mentions a lot of activities, but apart from "a walk in the town" they offer none. The lodge is situated in the main street of Khorixas next to bars and restaurants, so it can get quite noisy in the evening. When we had a flat tyre with our car, the staff wasn't very helpful. Charged 45 NAD to call the car rental company in Windhoek and when we asked for a tyre shop in the area they just told us "to go search for it ourselfs in the village". We also felt like tourist bait all the time, as well on the streets as on the lodge grounds itself! "You want to buy this, can I wash your car, ...". An attitude we experienced nowhere else in Namibia. Better to pass on this one.
