After 7 trips cancelling due to COVID-19; we made it to this hotel for 8 nights. It was our first time in Sicily and it was lovely. We preferred the location of this hotel as it was on the beach and you could get the shuttle or cable cars upto town. We had drinks at the sister hotel and it was really nice and well located if you want to be in the middle of town. The staff were very hit and miss, some really made the effort but some made no effort at all. The room was decent sized and we booked the basic room and they upgraded us to a sea view but there was such a musty smell in the room but this is due to the age of the property. The price of food and drink were very high, we go to the Middle East and are used to paying a lot for booze but 23 euros for an aperol or 20 euro min for a glass of local wine is v steep. Outside the hotel in Taormina the food and drinks are really reasonable. We might sound a bit negative As it wasn’t perfect but we would return here and overall enjoyed it. If you have any concerns post COVID-19 this hotel and it’s sister property are 100% in making you feel safe with lots of safety measures you felt very well looked after.

Dear Fiona, First of all let me thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Belmond Villa Sant’Andrea. I am delighted that you enjoyed your time with us and I am particularly happy to read your kind compliments regarding our unique location, the upgraded room being the pinnacle of experiences for you. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional experiences to each and every guest so I am pleased to read that our anti-covid procedures let you feel safe and well looked after. However, I am disappointed to learn that you some of our team members did not deliver a 100% satisfactory service. Please accept my deepest apologies for this. Your note about food and drinks prices is of great value to us and it will be taken into serious consideration for future improvements. However, kindly note that they are in line with most luxury venues around the world. We very much look forward to welcoming you back here on your next trip to Taormina. Kind regards, Giovanni Nastasi GENERAL MANAGER

Just returned from 10 nights in this beautiful hotel. It is typical Belmond styling, old English and in a wonderful setting although at this time of the year the sun departs earlier - due to the land mass in front of it!

This is definitely not a budget trip, on the contrary lunch, dinner and drinks are quite pricey! Breakfast was always an occasion to look forward to, special mention to Margarita and Rudi who looked after us. I would say though that staff at the hotel are high quality, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly - Roberta on the front desk also gets a special mention.

I have to say I had not fully comprehended that the hotel was Taormina Mar (by the sea) and the town of Taormina was up the hill! However, the hotel's shuttle bus (to the sister hotel Grand Timeo, where we also had a lovely breakfast one day) was really good as was the cable car, so travel was not an issue.

The beach at Villa Sant Andrea is a wonderful setting, clear water but a little hard on the feet, it is not sandy. The complimentary boat trip around the adjoining beaches and caves was stunning, especially when accompanied by the beautiful music on board, definitely one not to miss.

The hotel is also a good location for visiting the many sites around that end of Sicily. I would like to say thank you to the hotel and it's really good staff for a wonderful and memorable trip.

The staff are amazing. They cannot do enough for you and are incredibly warm and friendly. Particularly breakfast and beach staff.

The hotel is amazing- location, luxury, design, cleanliness, facilities. We have travelled lots and always five star but this is an experience like no other.

The food is amazing as well and breakfast menu is extensive.

The shuttle bus between the two hotels runs every 30 minutes which meant we could go up into town without using the cable car or an expensive taxi. Also the ability to use both hotel’s facilities is excellent.

We also were given a free upgrade to a junior suite and the level of cleaning and tidying felt like we had our own unobtrusive butler!

Beautifully appointed hotel with excellent service and facilities. Delicious breakfast , dinner by the sea. Shuttle between Villa Sant'Andrea and sister hotel Villa Timeo allowed for multiple dining options. Any issues solved quickly. At a hotel of this level I would expect complimentary drinking water to be placed in the room daily, not just a small bottle at night. Otherwise expensive accommodation but special and worth it.

A top class hotel with excellent service, lovely staff. Beds are extremely comfortable, food is top notch. Free shuttle to the sister hotel in the centre of Taormina. Private pebbly beach with excellent sunloungers that shade your head if required.
The only downside to all this loveliness is the price of food and drinks and the parking, all of which will have your credit card begging for mercy. €10 for a 330ml bottle of beer and €44 per day for (valet) parking are particular highlights.
I’d go back tomorrow though, because the experience is worth it.
Oh, and have breakfast in your room. It doesn’t cost extra, arrives exactly when you ordered it to do so; we found breakfast time in the restaurant ever so slightly chaotic.

Writing this review with our hearts filled with so much happiness and love! We got married at this hotel and also stayed for our honeymoon and everything was 10/10!! Working with Marilisa and the hotel staff was a dream come true and everything turned out perfect. We got married on the beach during sunset with a small intimate group and couldn’t have asked for anything more. The location on the water is ideal, a private beach, lots of options for day fun, Taormina city center was close by just a cable car ride up into town or use of the hotel shuttle. The suite we stayed in was clean large and made us feel right at home. The terrace was Beautiful with a view of the bay and you could hear the waves when you were falling asleep. Anything you wanted or needed was possible. Breakfast daily had a ton of choices and there was music every night at the hotel bar to unwind and have a few drinks. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and all spoke English! Giuseppe from guest reservations was so easy and fun to work with as well, is willing to help arrange anything you need(even a private boat tour for a large group!). The infinity pool was also the perfect temperature and there were always chairs available on the beach. Highly recommend spending a few days (or more!) at this hotel, it’s definitely luxury at its finest :) We will definitely be back!

Great hotel in a fantastic position , staff are more than helpful in particular , Peter behind the bar , Lydia on lunchtime bar food service and Carmen in restaurant.
If you are thinking which hotel is better the Timeo or Sant Andrea , Timeo is more formal set up on the hill with great views towards Mt Etna its also right in the town , the Sant Andrea is right on the beach in a great location , its also right next to the cable car that for 3 euros takes you straight into the town in less than 3 min . The other plus is that you can charge to your room from either hotel , we stayed in the Sant Andrea and went up to Timeo for pre dinner drinks best of both worlds .
Book and enjoy

My wife and I stayed at Villa Sant' Andrea for 4 nights in a lovely suite with two large balconies and spectacular views. The rooms and bed were extremely comfortable. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant on our first and last nights and enjoyed breakfast each day. The amenities are good and the location is excellent with a shuttle to Toarmina every hour or a 200m walk to the Funicular which runs about every 15 minutes.
It is a lovely hotel. However, as with many good hotels, it was the staff who made us feel special.

Luxurious charm oozes from the moment you enter the gates of “Villa Sant Andrea”… My friend and I booked only one night and we decided to forgo our next evenings stay in order to indulge in the sophistication of this property.
Giuseppe and Antonio (GM) were absolutely hospitable and a delight. Antonio’s generosity in our next days upgrade was absolutely breathtaking with two beautifully appointed balconies whose views were breathtaking. We simply did NOT want to leave …
The acqua di parma toiletries were luxurious. It’s fragrance was a beautiful blend of the different fragrant flowers you smelled around the property.
Fly into Catania and call the hotel to book a trip to the hotel - 150 eur one way. You diol have a seamless transport to the hotel.
Once you arrive and are greeted by the cordial front desk staff, you will know you walked into something special. The hotels beach bags and sandals add a nice touch to your experience.
Take advantage of the private beach, nearby cable car or hotels private shuttle to their sister hotel at the top of the hill and of their amazing restaurants with exquisite views. We hired a private boat to pick us up from the private beach and decided to extend our boat trip longer.
I simply cannot wait to return! Might be as soon as this September to celebrate my birthday‼️

To everyone who made our stay so incredible at Belmond Villa Sant’Andrea, thank you.
My partner proposed to me while we were staying here and it was the most magical fairytale experience I could have ever wished for. Made so special by the hotel.
We would really like to thank Marilisa for organising the most beautiful private dinner on the beach. Every single detail, from the chefs preparation of our food, to the wonderful service we received from Carmen and the rest of the team was just perfect and we appreciated every second. My partner had a vision, and he wanted to make it the most memorable experience. Marilisa did everything to made it happen. This night will always remain in our hearts.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sicily let alone the Taormina area. Who wouldn’t want to wake up and have breakfast watching the lapping waves and listening to Cicadas? Just paradise.
Everyone was so happy and kind to us during our stay, and we felt so comfortable everywhere we went. The only thing I would ask for next time, would be to have more time here!
I also want to say a huge thank you for making our stay extra special by providing us with a room upgrade. It really came to us as a surprise, and we couldn’t have felt more lucky. Giovanni, Marilisa, Valeria, Carmen, and all of the staff who’s names we never got, thank you! It was an amazing trip and we will return! Arrivederci!

Dear Alexagan, thank you for reaching out to us. September in Sicily tends to be a truly beautiful month. The temperature is normally around 25°C (or 77F) and sunny, although it of course slightly depends on the year. In general this part of Italy tends to enjoy warm weather sometimes even all the way into December. Even though the days start to get shorter, we think you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful blue skies of September right from our beach. Do let us know if you need further information. Kind regards, Belmond Villa Sant'Andrea

Is jelly fish common for the bay/beach? Or just a one of depending
Answer from Ludovica Pagni
Milan, Italy1 contribution
Dar Alexagan, thank you again for your interest in our hotel. It really depends on the year and on the season. Sometimes there are some jellyfish, like in most location around the Mediterranean, sometimes there aren't. We are sorry we cannot be more specific! We do hope to welcome you in the near future. Kind regards, Belmond Villa Sant'Andrea
Answer from Ludovica Pagni
Milan, Italy1 contribution
Dear Alexagan, thank you very much for your interest. Of course we may be a little biased in our response, but at least we can offer an insight on how the two hotels differ. Grand Hotel Timeo is located in the heart of Taormina, right next to the Greek Theatre - it is truly strategic to head out and explore the town of Taormina on foot and the views from up top are truly stunning. Villa Sant'Andrea instead is located in Taormina Mare, right by the sea. The hotel has a private beach, as well as a restaurant and bar which overlook directly the Mediterranean. It is less of a grand dame hotel and more of a luxury beach residence immersed in nature. The two hotels are connected by a complimentary shuttle that normally runs every 30 minutes (changes for 2020 are still to be confirmed, but the schedule should remain very similar) and takes about 10-15 minutes. Please note that there is also a cable car that leaves from very close to Grand Hotel Timeo and arrives right in front of Villa Sant'Andrea - it takes about 3 minutes to connect Taormina to the sea. We hope that this is helpful! Do let us know if there are further questions we may answer. All the best, Belmond Sicily
