Glitter Bay Suites operated by Barbados Villa Services comprise of the following apartments 103, 107, 109, 113, 204, 206, 207, 210, 211, 302AS, 302TD, 303, 307, 308, 312, 313 on the west coast of Barbados. These apartments are all individually furnished, fully self contained, air conditioning throughout and all have internet TV and ADSL wireless connection. The units are spacious and well maintained and we provide hotel style maid service 6 days per week. Located on one of the best beaches on the west coast, 5 minutes away from Holetown. The facilities include two floodlit tennis courts, large fresh water swimming pool, fresh water wading pool, bar facility from 11 a.m. To sunset with cable TV, 24/7 security, fitness room with cable TV. Our apartments are all non-smoking. Smoking permitted in designated areas only.

This is a mixed review. Marilil from BVS is excellent and really helpful. If you have a question about renting here she’ll answer immediately.
We returned to 312 which is the apartment we prefer however it’s now looking a bit tired.
All the staff who work at Glitter Bay are polite and helpful.
If anyone has mobility issues there is a lift to most apartments however there are no facilities on the beach (ie chairs) just loungers. I’d suggest to Glitter Bay management team, to have more loungers / chairs / umbrellas and a dedicated area maybe in the huge garden area for those currently unable to get to the beach.
The beach has shrunk over the 10 years we’ve been coming - Hurricane Beryl this summer has had an effect.
A word of warning for those wanting a quiet break - it’s very noisy with kids on holiday from beginning of December and school holiday times.

We book with Marilil at Barbados Villa Services and the whole experience from initial booking is always excellent. BVS is not to be confused with Eden travel / Royal GB who also rent properties here.
The standard of the apartment is high and the beach is magnificent. Everyone is friendly and makes you feel so welcome.
We can highly recommend a stay here.
We look forward to returning - hopefully next year!

This is a great location, but let down by poor management, lack of maintenance and too many legal battles between the owners that’s all too visible and not what we came for. It’s a great place that clearly lacks investment due to the way it is ran. The place needs investment and frustration can be felt in the vibe. After coming here for over 10 years, we called back to see if it had changed. Pleased to say some of the same smiles and friendly faces still hold this place together. It’s still visible to see the cracks appear in the building and the management of the facilities. The bar ran out beer and some of the wines we drank. The selection was poor, service was slow at times especially when the manager was present, she would benefit from talking to customers and her colleagues without the aggressive tone and attitude, combined with and the facility just looking run down these days made it poor value. The accommodation we stayed in was ok, but would benefit from an update, roof leak was annoying and lack of water at times. Some of the staff are outstanding and would be the only reason we would return unless things change.

We rented Unit 412, which was a disappointment. The property manger Blue Sky Luxury, initially sent us incorrect information and we received correct information only the day before our arrival. However, upon arrival, the security guard at the gate had no record of us.
Further, when we finally reached the Unit, it was not ready: A/C not on, lights not on, laundry outside the door. During our first 6 days, we had multiple issues: bedroom fan in-operational, some lights not working, rusted kettle, metal fatigued saucepans. While these were eventually resolved, we had to endure one night of no lights because the Unit system was overloaded.
Further, we could not use the cooker, for which the controls were unreadable, the racks were rusted and tray was also rusted. Our pleas for assistance were ignored by Blue Sky Luxury.
Also, contrary to the advertisement, the sea view is very limited: you have to stand in one corner of the balcony and stretch your neck to see it.
There are other units in the property which have been updated and we were able to see some of those. But Unit 412 needs updating for it to be acceptable. And we would not recommend Blue Sky Luxury.

Amazing location and accommodation, this would have got 5+ stars if it was not down to the poor staff running the place in particular “markeisha” who’s attitude is absolutely appalling with paying guests at this venue,
We have never experienced so much rude and abrupt customer service from this person mainly in all our experience in travelling.
Moving forward a massive shake up of staff and a lot of retraining in customer service would make this venue a top destination in one of the high end locations of Barbados. However not all staff are appalling, a special mention to “frank” who delivered amazing service throughout our trip which must not go unnoticed.
We would never return again unless certain staff had a change in attitude and are reminded they are paid to deliver a service instead of trying to ruin your day treating you like a prisoner telling you what you can and can not do throughout your “holiday”.

412 is a 2 double bed apartment on the fourth floor of the Glitter Bay complex (there is a lift). Although you can't see the sea directly, this is not a problem as its large balcony overlooks the well-maintained gardens and the pool.
Overview of apartment - 1 double bedroom with ensuite bathroom (shower, bath, 2 basins), 1 double bedroom with separate bathroom (large shower). Tastefully decorated, air conditioned throughout. Lovely and clean. Gorgeous and delightful! Open plan kitchen/living with large fridge/freezer, all necessary utensils and cutlery etc. Balcony large enough to have plant beds, 1 x table for 4, extra table for 2, plus sofas and coffee table! The best place to eat!
Ceiling fans throughout plus relatively quiet and effective A/C. Masses of wardrobe space. We found we didn't need the AC overnight, just the fans as the ambient temperature is so good. TV comes with UK Sky package so you get BBC channels, plus Movies/Sport etc. There is a DVD player too. The extra bonus is that the apartment is serviced by the cleaner Gail who was great - makes the bed, washes, tidies, mops etc, like a hotel!
There's free WiFi which is very good in the apartment, plus it's round the pool and you can receive it on the beach too!
Amenities - Glitter Bay is managed and has a concierge who can organise taxis, hire cars, trips etc. The swimming pool is a good size and warm, plus it has a separate children's pool area with a few climbing frames. There's also a bar on site. The very best part is the sun lounger system by the beach. When you arrive you are allotted sun loungers by the man who runs the beach lounger system for Glitter Bay. You keep these loungers for the length of your stay. This is brilliant - no fighting over loungers, or getting up early! Fantastic. Made all the difference. The loungers are extremely comfortable with thick mattresses. Pool towels are also provided.
There is a small gym for those who are interested. It's open 24/7 and comprises 1 x Life Fitness treadmill, 1 x LifeFitness recumbant bike and 1 x Life Fitness cross-trainer. It has a selection of free weights, plus a few weights machines (pull-downs and the like), mats, a few steps and swiss balls. Absolutely adequate for maintaining fitness and which we used.
The atmosphere is relaxed, unpretentious, civilised and extremely welcoming.
Shops - Glitter Bay is 1 mile from Holetown. We walked there every day along the beach (all beaches are open to the public in Barbados and it was good to have a walk in between all the sunbathing!!) to get to the supermarket for food (popped some clothes on to go to buy stuff!). There's a large Massey Stores which has everything, including stocking Waitrose Essentials products (from the UK). Be warned, food is extremely expensive in Barbados, although there is a good selection. You can also visit Cartier, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Hugo Boss etc if you wish, plus some local shops etc!
Beach activities and watersports are in abundance and extremely easy to partake in. We went on jet skis which you just do from the beach (owners ride up and down the coast looking for custom). We used Fabio near the Coral Reef hotel twice - he was great. You can take them out on your own for 30 minutes and it's not too expensive.
We did visit a sugar mill and plantation and went to Bridgetown when we hired a car for the day (they drive on the left like the UK).
The weather in March was fantastic. It's hard to describe but even when it's cloudy in Barbados, you still lie out on the lounger as it's so warm - and not in a sticky, humid way. There's always a lovely warm breeze. Sunsets are magical and the rain, if it comes, is warm - and fleeting!
Overall, 412 Glitter Bay is a totally marvellous apartment. We had the most relaxing, wonderful time and were made to feel extremely welcome. The staff are great (loved William the security guard on the gate). Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Two middle aged Canadian ladies went to Glitter Bay to check out the grounds,restaurants and resort. We wanted to see if the place was suitable for our families for next years vacation.
We arrived at the gate at 1:00 pm. to ask the guard if we come onto the premises for lunch and look around.He said " the kitchen is closed". He told us to go next door to The Fairmont. We had to turn around and leave. Not very good business practice. No card no mention of who to call...nothing. No Glitter Bay next year!

Hi Libby - thank you for posting your experience at the entrance of Glitter Bay. Glitter Bay is a private estate and for the sole use of owners and resident guests. The property has communal management which also includes the security and the bar and snack bar. Management closed the snack bar due to low occupancy since last month and we are unsure when it will reopen; it is not a full restaurant. There are great restaurants and bars just along the beach like The Fairmont Beach Club, JuJus, Lonestar and Santi. Our company, Barbados Villa Services, manages 17 units on the property as The Glitter Bay Suites and we do make arrangements for non-resident guests to come by and have a look at the property, view some apartments etc. I am sorry that you were turned away and not offered an opportunity to view the property because Glitter Bay has one of the best beaches on the west coast. If, on another occasion, you wish to come by please contact us directly and we will make the necessary arrangements. Again, my apologies for this unfortunate encounter and we do hope that we will one day be able to welcome you and your families to Glitter Bay. This was the first time I visited Gliter Bay. It provides a brilliant self catering option in a great area near Holetown. Aparatments are spacious with good size rooms and balconayies looking over lovely gardens, they offer free and fast wifi which is a bonus.
The downside - they have an allocated sun bed system, you will be told that the front line beds have already been taken even though there is no one sitting on them. You will also be to told that that the system is first come first served. This is not true, instead you will find people arriving after you who either own the an apartment or who have paid a tip.
Tip - if you want to sit in the front line, take a sun longer that's unoppcupied, if you are asked to move by staff, refuse! There is nothing anyone can do as all the loungers are communal.

Sorry to hear that you encountered issues with the communal management system of sun lounger allocation but hope that this will not deter you from returning. Glitter Bay has one of the best beaches on the west coast and is certainly one of the main reasons our guests return time and again. Unfortunately we have no say over the beach allocation system which is controlled by the communal managers who also oversee the pool and gardens etc. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back in the near future. We have been holidaying in Barbados since the mid 80's as a family and have some very happy memories of our stay's along the West Coast.We decided this year to re-explore the renting of an apartment for independance and flexibility as my 3 year old grandson was accompanying us on this trip.Glitter Bay ticked all the boxes and we booked a ground floor apartment 107 for safety and accessibility to the beach etc (the latter is'nt an issue whichever apartment you book.) The apartment was appalling,-generally filthy,a health hazard.... and a stuffy' odour prevailed throughout, the kitchen area was disgusting,dishwasher did'nt work and contained mouldy food residue,the fridge door had no handle (broken)and would'nt close properly therefore there was constant dripping water,consequently we had to prop the door closed with a broom handle,all the kitchen cupboards had an undefined smell within them;bathrooms were dirty,staining on toilets and antiquated in appearance;bedrooms lacked any comfort,no valances on beds,bed side lights did'nt work,wardrobes were ingrained with dirt on the walls,floor and doors. The veranda area was completely enclosed with shrubs so there was no view whatsoever to the garden,pool area etc. The apartment was a complete nightmare, we had never ever exprienced such poor quality accomodation along the west coast. 107 impacted on our holiday significantly and not what we had been expecting based on the advertising blurb ' for this apartment and the cost. Thankfully the owner of another apartment and Glitter Bay Management came to our rescue after we complained vehemently. We eventually moved to another apartment .Worringly the owner of 107 at the time and still continues to take no responsibility for the disgusting environment he is renting out, he has stated that the quality of his apartment is commensurate with other apts on Glitter Bay,-this is completely untrue.I would not recommend this apartment under any circumstances.
Apart from our devastating experience with the apartment,-Glitter Bay is an excellant location for families,the staff,managment team & Nuru go out of their way to be welcoming.The beach is the best!
Will we go back?All depends on whether our recent vivid memories of our dreadful experience with the apartment fade signifcantly enough.....

I am sorry that you had such an experience with this particular apartment which is privately owned and managed by an owner. Glitter Bay is a unique beach front property on the west coast of Barbados consisting of privately owned 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, most of which are rented via various rental management companies or directly with a few owners who manage their own apartment. Barbados Villa Services manages 15 apartments at Glitter Bay of which 14 are rented and we are not associated in any way with apartment 107. The Glitter Suites comprises of the following apartments which are for vacation rental 101, 103, 106, 109, 113, 204, 206, 211, 212, 305, 308, 309, 313, 409. We are glad that you enjoyed everything else at Glitter Bay and we have to agree that the beach is one of the best on the west coast. It is a lovely property with spacious grounds and friendly staff and we pride ourselves in ensuring that all our guests staying in our apartments leave here wanting to come back time and time again. Good morning
There is a large Massey grocery store in Holetown.
Holetown is about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride.
Operating hours are pretty good(until about 8pm most nights) except Sundays then they close at 5PM.

Hi Jayne,
All of our apartments within our portfolio have washers and dryers for our guest use. We provide hotel style housekeeping daily Mon - Sat so personal laundry is not part of their duties however you can have this service and you arrange and settle directly with the housekeeper during your stay.
There are other apartments that do not have them (usually the one bedroom units) and there are others that do have them but do not permit guests to use them.
