We loved the location on the water and the opportunity to take a boat for bird and animal sightings from that perspective. Amazing game drives every day. Each outing offered something special, a leopard in a tree eating its impala, a huge herd of Cape buffalo stampeding in a cloud of dust and loud mooing, hippos out of the water,...

We were on a luxury mobile safari with John Chase Safaris and we're lucky enough to be taken to Dumatau for three thrilling days. Fantastic welcome and throughout our stay were treated like royalty. The food and accommodation was worthy of any 4 star plus. Incredible game viewing. Would recommend to anyone.

We spent two nights at very short notice flying into Chobe airstrip and staying Duma Tau. Our kids loved the place, Evans our guide was great, the rooms were perfect and we found the food to be excellent and very modern with excellent attentive and proud service. Game around the swamp was bountiful and the cruise on the barge was...

This was my first visit to DumaTau camp and I had 5 nights there in the lead up to Christmas. While I did not get to see a lion or to hear one roar on this occasion, there were so many leopard sightings and photo ops that it did not matter. My guide, Mocks, was fantastic ... a great tracker,...

Our guide (who has since left the amp) was an exceptionally good tracker. The physical facilities are superb. The food was pretty good, but was not the best of the camps we visited, and the staff could have been better at providing vegan food options (they new of this requirement in advance). Everyone was quite pleasant. I highly recommend.

We spent 5 days at Duma Tau Camp and requested our favorite safari guide Goodman to guide us. We originally met him in 2009 when we stayed at Savuti camp. Our family spent three nights at Duma Tau in late July, and our stay completely exceeded all expectations. The tents were very well appointed and had a very "safari chic" feel to them. The whole camp was reconstructed in a new location just down the way from the old location only a couple of years ago, so the whole camp...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perhaps the best game viewing in far northern Botswana - from its newest and most stylish camp. DumaTau means "roar of the lion," but the elephant reigns here. The camp is set on a lagoon on the Linyanti River between two "elephant highways," affording unparalleled viewing of these iconic mammals, along with other wildlife. Together with sweeping, dramatic views of the river, the architecture of the camp expresses the explorer aesthetic, as well as the idea of space. There is an airy dining and lounge area, and a pool, all taking advantage of the superb view of the lagoon. Highlights DumaTau is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, with access to the Linyanti Swamps, floodplains and extensive mopane woodlands, thus offering an excellent combination of land and river. During winter, large elephant herds traverse the area. Chances of viewing leopard, lion and wild dog are excellent, along with other large mammals like hippo, red lechwe, giraffe, waterbuck, kudu, impala and occasional buffalo. 10 Tents (including 2 Family Tents): Rebuilt 2012; en-suite; spacious; raised off the ground; clear-storey window; 100% solar powered Experiences: Day and night game drives • Nature walks (on request) • Boating and barge (seasonal) • Game viewing hides • Catch-and-release fishing (seasonal) ... more   less
