We booked a table for 8 in the restaurant as we were staying nearby. Nice place, excellent food but untrained staff. The young waiter and waitress (who tried hard) just had not got a clue. No idea what beers were available; did not provide spoons for the delicious mussel juice; could not find enough water jugs for the table; did...

This hotel is in a great location, right next to the Crinan Canal and a good base for touring the sights of Argyll. There's always a warm welcome and the rooms are very comfortable. The food is consistently good, with a wide menu, making the most of great local produce, particularly seafood. Highlights include the twice baked souffle for starter,...

Ideally placed for the very gentle walking along the canal to Ardrishaig and Crinan. Always something to watch on the canal and locks - become a gongoozler for the weekend. New beaver retreat near hotel along with cup and ring stone markings. Hotel is part of the Seafood Trail and the food is outstanding, prawns, clams, fish, langoustines, smoked salmon...

two friends Angela and I went for dinner on Sunday evening. Young inexperienced boy took the drinks order and young girl took the meal order. Food was good but service poor. We had been overcharged and bill was reduced. Problems not young staffs fault but management need to put in better training.

We were walking the delightful Crinan canal and this hotel is about halfway. Been looking forward to stopping for a pint the whole way. We called in at 1.30 Sunday lunchtime, 24th April. The place was fairly quite and we took a table outside. My wife asked for a pot of tea and I went in to see what beers...

Not a bad hotel, there is not much by means of accommodation in this area and so from that perspective it's a nice hotel. The decor is very very stuck in the past, it's not attractive at all. The staff were OK, except who appeared to own the hotel, he was very ignorant and short with. is. He may not...

Stayed for two nights on a business trip to be in the Lochgilphead area. The hotel is about three miles west of the town and very rural. There is limited mobile phone signal in the hotel so not ideal if you are staying on business however on a leisure trip it would be ideal. The food is very good and...

Got a deal to stay here. Must admit there was nothing wrong with the accommodation.....the food however was a differs story. We went for a family dinner. 3 steaks, 2 other mains and a child's meal. Two steaks were supposed to be medium/rare and one rare. Waitress brought out 3 steaks and hadn't a clue what they were. I ordered...

We've been coming to the Cairnbann for the last 20 years, not to stay but to eat. Why then only a 3 star review! I have to say first of all the the food has always been good. At the end of the day that's why we always call in when we are in that part of the world. The...
