The Verandah Antigua is often lauded for its pristine location, offering stunning views and convenient access to dining and pools. Guests have called out the friendly and attentive staff, though some warn of occasional slow service. The hotel's atmosphere is generally appreciated for its well-maintained recreational spaces; however, the loud music at the main pool can be a point of contention. While the rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and cleanliness, the inconsistent servicing and lack of some amenities are noted by travelers. Cleanliness throughout is highly rated, yet issues with towel availability persist. Several guests express concerns over the value, citing additional fees and expensive surcharges that may detract from the overall experience. Despite this, the hotel's variety of activities and dining options are popular among visitors.

Wow is one word to use , I had read previous reviews on the resort before we arrived and was a little anxious but when I arrived all that disappeared, we arrived to a beautiful reception area and was greeted with a rum punch at check in, we where taken in by the beautiful gardens surrounding the reception, a golf buggy waiting to take our bags and us to our room , the rooms are amazingly spacious, clean and with a balcony , we had a garden view but we could still see the sea, our villa was located not far from a waterfalled pool and only a 5 min walk to breakfast, this site is big , the garden areas are well maintained with bananas and coconuts growing all over, a well established aloe Vera plants in areas for you to use if you managed to have some sunburn , and the staff are amazing… I can’t fault my stay, the staff go to the ends of the earth for you,
They have various restaurants for you too choose from, our favourite was sails and tails overlooking lovers beach , what a stunning location, the buffet was always open and no shortage of food , they also have a fresh cooking option if you don’t want something from the buffet on one of the themed nights ,
The themes whilst we where there were Asian, tex mex , international, seafood and Italian all had many choices for you and had a salad and fresh fruit bar , breakfast was pancakes, sausages , bacon , fruit and toast/bagels
Also the fresh making station had eggs or omelets
The Italian restaurant was easy to book on the morning of my birthday and had given me a few cakes as a celebration at short notice.
We didn’t visit Nicole’s or the spa so I can’t write a review on that but had heard good things about it and this is the place to go to for fresh lobster along side sails and tails.
We had an excursion in the catamaran which was amazing and good value for money, we had 3 different snorkelling places , we saw stingrays, swam with the turtles and on the reef with soo many pretty fish , had lunch on the beach with an open bar
And a visit to the island where the rich live and all their properties , all the staff made sure we had water and anything we needed
I have come home restful and in need to book a return back to this fabulous resort

As a side note you can book to go to pineapple beach resort for the day as it’s a sister hotel of the veranda, you can book this through guest services .

You can look forward to the pizza restaurant anytime you need, coffee shop which has fresh coffee and pastries from 6.30am-11pm
And bars with anything you want to drink.

Thankyou the veranda for the most fabulous stay

Thank you so much for such an excellent review! We're glad your stay at The Verandah was beyond expectations, and you felt relaxed and rejuvenated afterward. Your words say it all: what we strive to offer is a beautiful, engaging escape with outstanding service, lush surroundings, and unforgettable experiences. It's great to hear you have enjoyed spacious and comfortable accommodation, well-maintained gardens, and aloe vera plants for sunburn relief. Our culinary team will be delighted to see your appreciation of the variety and quality of the dining options, particularly your meals at Sails & Tails. It's even nicer to hear that the Italian restaurant made it a special birthday celebration—our team loves providing those memorable moments for our guests. Your tour sounds quite like an adventure: swimming with turtles, exploring reefs, and relaxing with lunch on the beach are genuinely what island getaways are all about. We are glad you enjoyed this experience and were well taken care of by the staff. It's also fabulous that you could fully use the facilities from the pizza restaurant to the coffee shop and appreciate seamless access to our sister property, Pineapple Beach Club. We are glad you are considering coming back, and we would consider it an honor to accommodate you for another fabulous stay. Thank you again for such kind words and for choosing The Verandah. We do hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again! 😁 Take care, The Verandah

We booked our trip on CheapCaribbean.com and stayed from Wed. 8/28/2024 - Mon. 9/2/2024. We had stopped at Antigua on a cruise years ago, but this was our first time to stay there. Our flight arrived in the late afternoon. We were a group of 3 and booked a shuttle van at the airport. Another couple of ladies were put into our van that were also going to the Verandah. The price was based on per person in a group. I believe ours was $56 for the 3 of us, and the other two ladies charged separately at a slightly cheaper rate. Pretty weird.

It took about 40 minutes to get to the hotel, passing through some small neighborhoods along the way. Most roads were just barely 2 lane streets, so lots of stopping to let people pass.

The hotel check-in went smooth. A golf cart had to take us to our room. Craig gave us a nice tour of the place. You figure it out after a day or so, so don't worry. Our bungalow was about 5 minutes away from the main area, so we ended up walking mostly, but there's times you just don't want to so we'd call for a ride. Sometimes it took up to 15 minutes, so expect that. We heard the resort was at 20% occupancy at this time of year.

Room:
The rooms look remodeled. We had a nice waterview and could see Rasta Beach (no one ever seemed to be there.) Pretty spacious room I'd say. Also had iron/board, TV, hairdryer, fridge, kitchen cabinet and sink. Bathrooms were decent size, but could get hot with the door closed. A/Cs were the wall-mounted kind, the control took some figuring out. Rooms are cleaned every other day for some reason.

Food:
That first night we ate at the buffet. The jerk chicken, oxtail, macaroni and cheese, salad bar, roast beef, and dessert bar were awesome. I had to make myself stop eating jerk chicken, it was so good. The buffet isn't open every night, some nights it was just Italian and I think the snack area also. The Italian restaurant was fine. Breakfast had an omelet station that was good. Bacon, scrambled, eggs, etc. I enjoyed everything I ate. The pizza was very good also. We didn't eat at the specialty restaurant that has an extra charge.

Bars:
The drinks were fine at the bars we drank at: the beach, the main bar, the sports bar, and the bar serving the buffet and Italian restaurant. The rum punch was very good, but would be different depending on who made it. Didn't matter, it was good. You could get name brand if you wanted. The sports bar had name brand on display. Blender drinks aren't available at the sports bar. That didn't bother me, just pointing it out.

Nightlife:
Since it wasn't packed, it was nice during the day. At night, it was a little slow, depending on the night. One night, they advertised a disco night. Well, they band was good, but they didn't play a lot of disco, or only part of the song, before moving to another. When they did stick with 70s disco, people seemed to liven up and some danced. A couple of nights at the sports bar it was somewhat active, and other nights kind of dead. Not sure why. I did enjoy the people I talked to.

Beach/pool:
There are two main beaches, Lovers Beach and Rasta Beach. I don't think anyone was hardly at Rasta. Lovers beach was never packed either because of low occupancy. It was nice and the water was a good temperature. They had these rings out in the water that you could float on. Very nice and relaxing. The water was very calm in a protected inner area. We rode on the small catamaran one day for about 15 minutes and that was cool. Everyone seemed to like the beach and the relaxing.
Seemed like I heard there were 4 pools there. The only one we went to was the main pool. Water temperature was comfortable. The only drawback was no swim up bar.

Excursions:
We wanted to do a sunset cruise, but went back the next day on a Saturday and was told nothing available like that until Wednesday. We did go to Shirley Heights on a Sunday night on the SE part of the island. Probably about 45 minutes each way. The hotel arranged it. $25 dollars if I remember correctly, but you have to leave at a certain time after sundown unless you get your own ride. The drinks there were reasonable, $5 for rum punch, $4 for all kinds of beer, not sure for mixed drinks or shots. They had a cookout too, it was a little high depending on what you wanted to eat. People seemed to get more into it as the time went on. The views are great. Seating is hard to get after the crowd starts showing up. I'd probably do that again, too bad we had to leave the next day.

There's also a big cricket stadium there we passed from the airport to the hotel. I know nothing about it, but the teams playing did stay at our resort and one night we watched a game on TV at the sports bar, trying to figure it out. I'd like to learn more about it and maybe go to a game sometime if I get the chance to go back there.

Service:
Service at the restaurants seemed to be like other resorts. Some are good, some you wonder where they went. Just depends. Nothing to get upset over. Everyone was polite, if not friendly. I don't expect someone to overdo it and throw on the charm for me, just treat me as a guest.

Other:
There is a sister hotel, the Pineapple, you have to take a cart to. We checked it out one night at the main bar area, but it was dark so hard to tell about the rest of the aera. I hear it will be remodeled also. I did meet the owner of the resort touring the place on a golf cart and talked to him briefly. Good to know he was checking out the place. All in all, the people we talked to, everyone just seemed to be first timers to Antigua, and really liked the place and had good things to say. Just had a good vibe, and I don't use that phrase much. I'd say about 1/3 were British, 1/3 were American/Canadian, and 1/3 were from other places in the Caribbean.

All-in-all, we were very relaxed and comfortable at this resort. We talked how we'd like to stay again. We checked prices and during the busy season the prices do go up, so it all will depend on some things when it will be again. But it was a very nice change from the usual Cabo/Cancun/Jamaica and/or cruise trips we usually do. Nice to check out some place different. I'd really like to go back, and hope to sometime. And yes, I would definitely and hopefully stay there again.

Like others, we had read a few negative reviews about this resort prior to our trip on 10th December ‘24 for 11 nights and I had contemplated changing our holiday.
I’m pleased to say we didn’t and we had a wonderful time. There were always beach towels, rarely a queue for drinks and the staff were exceptional!

A folder with all useful information in the room would be beneficial upon arrival.

Some handy tips:-

The wonderful coffee shop opens at 06:30 for self serve coffee however, made coffees and pastries start at 7am (opening time states 06:30). So don’t arrive at 6:30 for your caramel latte. Wait until 7.

Even if advertised, sailing lessons and snorkelling only go ahead on green flag days. A yellow flag at the bottom of the stairs on Lovers Beach means they’re not on.

Towel stations are everywhere, beaches and by all pools (not just by the main pool as stated on the resort map). Water stations likewise so there is no need for new water bottles placed in the room daily as previous guests have mentioned. That’s not eco friendly and recycling is difficult on the island. I was extremely happy with the housekeeping every other day, thank you ladies and gents, you did a wonderful job.

The timetable of activities is hit and miss. A few times we left the beach for a timed activity by the main pool only to be told it wasn’t on or they had done that three hours previously. I’m wondering why you would advertise hour by hour activities and then not honour it? Maybe something to consider in the future.

If you want a lovely beach walk a few minutes out of the resort to the right to Long Bay Beach, The Verandah has two bays with Pelicans diving for food daily at Lovers Beach. A wonderful sight to behold.

I believe the nightly entertainment may fall short if you want variety and an interactive experience.

I’d like to say that we encountered many pleasant staff members, including the fantastically hard working lady on the omelette station (who does the best poached eggs). You are simply wonderful.

André, you are an absolute credit to this resort. Thank you for your amazing cocktails. As are you Ashanti and Gail.

I always travel to different destinations as it’s a wide world out there for us to see, however if someone asked if I fancied a week away at The Verandah for a rest I would say yes without hesitation. Perhaps we timed it well between the two major holidays in the States. Regardless we loved it, thank you so much.

We spent 10 days at the lovely Verandah Hotel for our Honeymoon. Upon arrival we were greeted with a cold towel and a rum punch. Check in was quick and easy and we were whisked away to our Villa on the golf buggy by a wonderful member of staff who kindly showed us around and pointed out the various things we could do whilst at the resort.
The room was spacious and clean, plenty of towels, good air conditioning and a very comfortable bed. Housekeeping came every other day and replenished what was required. The room had a safe in which you were given the key to and had to return at the end of your stay.
The hotel grounds including the pool areas and beaches were well maintained. As mentioned by others, the pool area could benefit by having some more ‘shaded’ areas as this was a sun trap all day! Also the towels are there but we noticed the reason they ran out so quickly was because people were greedy. On multiple occasions we witnessed 2 people taking 4 towels so no wonder they ran out so quick!
Lovers beach was gorgeous! We absolutely loved the water hammocks and took full advantage of the water sports such as canoeing, wind surfing and the Hobie Cat. Raster Beach was much bigger but we did not find the ocean as inviting there.
The resort offers some sort of entertainment each evening such as a singer, band, games night, DJ etc there is also another bar area that shows multiple sports.
Now for the Food and Beverage, we didn’t have one problem the whole time we were there until the last day. We took breakfast as usual in the Seabreeze unfortunately it seemed they were very short staffed, our plates were not cleared, we were not offered a drink, not offered clean cutlery etc. The food however as usual was plentiful, warm and delicious. We then proceeded to have lunch at the Sails and Tails where unfortunately the same low staffing issues continued resulting in us having a slow experience and our burgers (like the table next to ours) were very undercooked in the middle. We tried to report this to a member of staff so they could just cook it a bit longer but no one was interested so we left. As we could not eat our burgers we decided to grab a pizza opposite. There were about 4 people before us but after 30 minutes no pizza was called. Again as we were leaving we didn’t have much time so we asked how long it would be, the lady had a look through the tickets and she had given our pizza to someone else. She offered to make us a new one but by this point after waiting a good 45 minutes we simply didn’t have time. Other than these problems on the last day which were caused by low staff levels all other experiences with food and beverage were great. Lovely food and wonderful cocktails and not forgetting the coffee shop that allowed you to have any type of coffee all day!
We were able to use a courtesy room on the last day to shower and freshen up before our evening flight and golf carts were readily available for times when we didn’t want to walk in the beautiful sunshine.

Overall the Verandah was a great choice for our honeymoon, thank you.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing such a detailed and heartfelt review of your honeymoon stay at The Verandah Resort & Spa. We're thrilled that you had a memorable experience and that our resort provided a wonderful setting for your special occasion. We’re delighted that your arrival was smooth and welcoming and that you found your villa spacious, clean, and comfortable. It's great to know that our housekeeping team met your expectations and that you appreciated the well-maintained grounds, pool areas, and beautiful Lovers Beach. Your feedback about the need for more shaded areas at the pool and the towel situation is noted, and we will look into ways to improve these aspects. We're glad you enjoyed the various water sports and evening entertainment options. It's also wonderful to hear that most of your dining experiences were positive and that you enjoyed the delicious food and cocktails throughout your stay. However, we deeply regret the issues you faced on your last day with the breakfast and lunch service. Due to staffing challenges, your experience at Seabreeze and Sails and Tails fell short of our usual standards, and I apologize for the inconvenience this caused. We will address these concerns with our team to ensure such issues do not occur in the future. Your positive feedback despite these challenges shows the true spirit of your visit, and we are committed to making your next stay even better. We warmly invite you to return to The Verandah Resort & Spa to experience our improvements. The Verandah is a very large and charming resort. There are two beach areas and the first one you see it not the better of the two so don’t despair, when you first arrive. The Beach grill is located at the first beach and was a highlight of the stay. We had great lunches there. I can’t remember the female chefs name but she made the BEST jerk chicken and ribs. Theodore is a server there and he was so amazing, fun and attentive. He remembered, on the last day of our trip, everything about us from our first day- even down to where we sat and our drink preferences. He was even more personable than many of the butlers we have had at other resorts.
We had a premium ocean front room in one of the buildings furthest from the lobby. There are golf carts to transport guests but found them slow to come around when waiting at the stops in between. Definitely recommend calling ahead if you know you will need one. Our room was very spacious. The shower was tiled recently but plastic still remained between thresholds and was poorly finished. There is a large shower but a tiny, old shower head. The verandah could benefit from upgraded furniture or a hammock and really needs repairs and paint. These are the units facing the nicer of the two beaches and the view of them from the beach also reveals that it could use some repairs and paint. There were a few bottles of water and a cheese plate in the fridge but no mini bar items. When you check in - the extra fees are explained in detail. I didn’t find the “every other day cleaning” to be an issue but when charging so many extra resort fees- it grates a bit. They charge more for resort fees each day than other resorts on the island that we stayed at that offer “more” in amenities. I would love to see upgraded shower fixtures, maybe some wood beam features on the ceiling and repaired and upgraded Verandahs as that is the name. They should also offer better bags to guests than those cheap, ugly paper ones.

Both of us friends have vacationed many times in the West Indies and we found The Verandah exceptional.
Partly we chose this resort because of positive reviews of the staff and they all lived up to their reputation for friendliness, efficiency, service as quick as possible and charm.
Because everything ran so smoothly we felt safe and able to completely relax. Had there been an issue it was clear it would be dealt with.
The manager’s cocktail party was a surprisingly fun and creative event and I was pleased to speak with Ms.Marina, Dale and chef Paul. We often asked servers to pass compliments to the chef but it was great to do so in person.
The inclusion of Antiguan dishes and ingredients such as festival is a big bonus when so much food needs to be imported to satisfy the wants of tourists.
It’s wonderful that the garden provides many of the herbs, vegetables such as spinach and fruit such as watermelons. Next visit I hope to find out the date of the garden tour in advance. Thanks to Dale for some of the details.
We particularly appreciated Shemboya, Gail, Shawn, Norville, Theodore, Rohana and the server at the Beach Grill whose name begins with E. Michelle in guest services is quite wonderful at juggling many tasks calmly.,
I wonder if the groundskeeper crew are treated well. They work so hard in the heat to make the grounds look perfect. If they were mentioned at the manager’s event I missed it.
Assigning housekeeping to every other day makes sense. The rooms are large, beds supremely comfortable and the shower etc. has plenty of hot water.
Water stations around the resort and the safety of tap water make provision of water in plastic bottles completely unnecessary.
There seemed to be some entertainment going on all the time from beach party to dance party. Moreover one week was not long enough to try out all the activities from pickleball to ping pong.
In younger days we would have been sailing but mobility issues for me made it a risk to go down the stone steps to Lovers Beach. My friend went kayaking and I swam every day at the quiet waterfall pool and even in the ocean at Pineapple Beach Club. We were sorry to learn that a significant number of guests were turning up at that beach more often than their reserved day. The difficulty is that Pineapple needs to know how many to expect for lunch or snacks. Moreover these intruders can cause a shortage of beach loungers.
Both of us plan to return next year with different companions if the price does not climb too much.
We each came home to cold temps and snowfall feeling rested, rejuvenated and pampered. I miss going to sleep to the music of the tree frogs with their wheep, wheep, wheep.

Dear Lillian, Thank you for sharing such a glowing review of your recent stay at The Verandah! We’re delighted to hear that your experience with us was exceptional and that you both had a memorable and relaxing vacation. It warms our hearts to know that you felt the genuine hospitality of our team. Creating a welcoming, friendly atmosphere is at the core of what we do, and it’s wonderful to hear that our staff made such a positive impression. Rest assured, your kind words about Shemboya, Gail, Shawn, Norville, Theodore, Rohana, the server at the Beach Grill, and Michelle in Guest Services will be shared with them—they’ll be thrilled to know their efforts helped make your stay memorable! We’re also pleased you appreciated our Antiguan dishes and commitment to using locally sourced ingredients. We're very proud of showcasing the island’s vibrant flavors while supporting sustainability, and it’s great to see that this resonated with you. We acknowledge your concerns about the influx of guests at Pineapple Beach Club and the availability of loungers. We’re working on solutions to improve this aspect while ensuring all guests enjoy their time with us. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to refine our offerings. We can’t wait to welcome you back next year and will do everything possible to ensure your next visit is even more memorable. Thank you once again for choosing The Verandah, and we hope you will keep the wonderful memories of your vacation with you for a long time to come! Sincerely, The Verandah Resort & Spa

28 July -5 Aug 2024: We stayed a week at the Veranda and while the resort is beautiful, I would NOT recommend going (especially during the off-season (summer). The entire staff (except at the beach bar) was friendly and accommodating. The rooms are ok but not anything special. There are enough activities to keep you busy but nothing close by. The food is good at best and limited to what is open on certain nights. Vary relaxing and quiet (when construction is not going on). Getting around the resort is easy and I believe the owner truly cares and wants guests to have a great experience.

If you are looking for quiet, romantic and seclusion this is a great get away spot. The nightly entertainment is adequate, and the service is good. You can schedule tours or excursions. If you expect luxury this is not the place to go.

The rooms were just ok. We had a "Superior Water View Suite" and while the view was breathtaking the suite left a lot to be desired. Dirty couch and chairs. no microwave, nothing stocked in this "all-inclusive suite". If you wanted to enjoy the view and a glass of wine from your balcony it required at least a 100 yard walk to and from a bar for each glass. The cleaning service did a great job and thoroughly cleaned every other day but there was truly nothing "Superior" about our suite.

Nothing is nearby. You can visit the sister resort (Pineapple) but shopping and enjoying the local culture is not within walking distance. There is plenty of things to see on the resort itself and we did take a day trip around the island on a catamaran ($120 each). There are great pickleball courts (with equipment available) putt-putt, tennis and multiple pools. The beach has paddle boards and water sports available (free).

Easy to get around the resort walking or via a shuttle that would pick you up quickly when called.

Food & drinks It was off-season so dining options were limited and it was hard to figure out what was open and when it was open. We were given a schedule but it did not align with the actual times and days. The food was good (not great) and the service was always friendly and fantastic. Kerry Anne at "Sails and Tails" and the staff at the beach restaurant were exceptional. Beware of the open salad bars as birds like to enjoy the cuisine and may not be noticed by the staff (yuck). The Wicket Pub has an excellent IPA.

Hello again from sunny Antigua! I want to thank you for sharing your detailed experience with us. We're delighted you enjoyed our beautiful resort and the friendly service, particularly at the beach bar. Overall I would say that this hotel is a disappointment. The pros of our stay were that the rooms were large and the beach was beautiful. I also enjoyed the the food at Portifino and Nicole’s. The drinks are good.

The cons of this resort are extensive. The service is very slow. The cafe and bars typically have a line of 6 to 8 people and move slowly. The waitstaff are kind but often take their time. The buffet is small and the food is okay. At the buffet the service is slow, we often sit and wait 10-15 minutes for a server to approach the table and offer water to us or coffee. Also they are frequently out of towels. It has happened multiple days in a row.
Also they offer no room service and do not provide any additional water bottles ( they place 2 in the room) the do not stock the mini fridge with , Coke, beer or anything in the room. When calling the front desk I was told to just drink out of the tap since it is filtered.

The resort also requires reservations for restaurants. We made a reservation and when we showed up they staff did not have the reservation. We had to speak to manager and wait 25 minutes before being seated, we got no apology.

Also our room was to be cleaned every other day, however, there were multiple days that it was not cleaned and we had to call multiple times to have it be cleaned.

Overall, for the price you pay to stay at this resort it does not live up to the standard of an all inclusive. I would suggest anyone looking to stay here to book somewhere else.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. While I'm glad you appreciated our rooms' spaciousness, the beach's beauty, and the culinary offerings at Portofino and Nicole's, I'm genuinely sorry that other aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Your feedback about the service speed at the cafe and bars and from our waitstaff is concerning and not reflective of the standards we aim to uphold. We understand that waiting for service can be frustrating, especially when you're here to relax and enjoy your time. We're taking your comments seriously and will promptly address these delays to ensure a more efficient and attentive service experience. The issues you've mentioned regarding the availability of towels, room service, and stocking water bottles and minibar items are certainly not up to our usual standards. We're reviewing our current procedures to ensure these amenities are consistently provided to all our guests, enhancing the comfort and convenience of your stay. I'm also disheartened to hear about the miscommunication with your restaurant reservation and the inconsistency in housekeeping services. These lapses are being looked into seriously to prevent such occurrences. We value your feedback, which is instrumental in our continuous efforts to improve our guest experience. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your stay further and see how we can make amends. Your satisfaction is paramount to us, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back and deliver the proper standard of hospitality we're known for.

I don’t normally give a negative review preferring to be constructive in my comments. However, we are on day 5 of a 14 day vacation and we could not agree more with the previous reviewer and could add more.
If you want a relaxing and stress free holiday this isn’t the resort for you. The resort is understaffed, staff are not well trained and despite doing their best are ineffective and sullen which is down to poor management who don’t appear to care about the staff or guest experience.
We don’t want
- to queue up to 20 minutes at the main bar or sports bar for drinks as there is only one person serving whilst others are stacking glasses or non existent.
- to queue everyday to make restaurant bookings as only one person on at Guest Relations and they are dealing with multiple guest issues - have a dedicated booker and let guests book 7 days ahead and it would reduce the queues and number of visits. Alternatively an App would be easier for all.
- to keep having to check whether there are clean beach towels available as these are not stocked up at the start of the day and replenished. Have a system where to get a new towel you return a used one and have one towel per person.
- to clear a table of dirty glasses before we can sit down to enjoy a drink.
- to feel as though we are in a nightclub when trying to relax round the pool or on a 18-30s holiday ( for those old enough to remember)
- to queue for 20 minutes at breakfast for a fried egg or omelette because only one person can appear to fry an egg in this hotel.
As for paying $24 a day for enhanced cleaning etc, we expect to have our room serviced everyday unless we choose otherwise . The public areas are not regularly cleaned, all tables around pool are sticky and have ants crawling on them. Tables in bars are not cleaned with antibacterial spray.
The pool area needs a pool attendant to keep it clean and tidy throughout the day for all guests and showers need to be used by guests.
Sorry but like many of your guests we holiday 2 or 3 times a year and expect for the money we pay to have a relaxing and comfortable holiday to remember for the right reasons.

Thank you for your feedback, Netty. While we understand your concerns, I want to address the points raised, as they do not fully reflect the standards or the experience we are known for at The Verandah. First, regarding staffing, our team works diligently to provide efficient and friendly service. There may be occasional delays during peak times, but we strive to ensure every guest receives timely and attentive care. We actively manage bar service, restaurant reservations, and towel availability, and we’re reviewing these systems to ensure smooth operations. Many guests appreciate the personalized assistance of our Guest Relations team, and while queues may form during busy times, their dedication to resolving guest needs is evident. On the subject of cleanliness, we take great pride in maintaining a high level of hygiene throughout the resort. Our nightly service charge directly supports enhanced cleaning efforts, and our rooms are serviced regularly unless otherwise requested. Public areas, including the poolside and bar tables, are cleaned consistently, and additional measures are in place to ensure these spaces remain welcoming for all guests. Regarding the ambiance around the pool, we aim to cater to diverse preferences, offering lively areas and serene spaces like our beaches for those seeking quieter relaxation. Many enjoy the music and atmosphere at the pool, but for guests preferring tranquility, our extensive layout provides alternative settings. Finally, it’s important to emphasize that our staff are hardworking, well-trained individuals committed to creating memorable stays for our guests. While we acknowledge there is always room for refinement, we believe the service and hospitality reflect the care and dedication many guests regularly praise. We are committed to providing a high-quality, relaxing, enjoyable holiday experience. Thank you for sharing your perspective, and we welcome the opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future. Take care, The Verandah

Visited 8-15 December, I must say having read some more recent reviews was a little apprehensive but glad to say there was no reason for this as this place and the staff are fantastic.

Location is remote so other than the adults only sister resort next door (which you can book a day pass to visit) there is nothing within walking distance. The resort is vast and they have electric karts zipping around all the time in case you don’t want to walk – the resort is undulating but the gorgeous grounds/trees do provide some shade.

We were allocated a room right opposite the main pool, this was central and great for access to the main areas – pool, main bar, coffee shop and restaurants. Yes, you could hear the music still when back in your room but everything seems to close by 11pm (it was dark before 6) so this was just part of the entertainment.

There are 2 beaches, the closest to the reception area is Rasta Beach and very beautiful but we spent most of our time at the other beach as this had all the water sports. We were impressed to see that all beaches and pools had their own toilets close by and the beaches had their own bars so no long walks to the bar.

Staff were friendly, everyone greeted you when they passed you. Eric the manager was very visible and always asked how you were. To be fair some members of staff appeared less smiley but if you just spoke to them and engaged, they were lovely. I think if you are friendly so are they – witnessed some very rude guests which was a shame.

As this was our first visit to the Caribbean, we contacted the hotel in advance to research excursions and made contact with Nian – he has an excursion shop alongside Guest Services next to the pool. Nian could not have been more helpful and provided information and expert advice and we absolutely loved the 3 excursions we booked through him – Helicopter tour to Montserrat, Stingray City & Pink Panther tour.

Other staff of note were Cassy-Ann in the marvellous coffee shop, Tracey Ann at the beach bar – she made the best local lemonades from scratch, ‘JMoney’ & ‘Tequila’ of the entertainment team and Lindon & Andre at the bar.

Food was OK, breakfast was as expected – cereals, cooked options and omelettes cooked to order. We spent every lunchtime at the Beach Bar – it had great food (catch of the day, burgers, pizza etc) and a fantastic view (spent hours watching hummingbirds and pelicans) but the evening buffet in the main restaurant was a little more limited and basic. We did try Buccaneers – an included table service restaurant that you needed a reservation to visit, this was nice plus we paid to visit Nicole’s, at $40 each it was pricey and not sure it was worth the amount other than the fact it was quiet and hubby could get his favourite lobster meal.

Overall we had a wonderful trip, enjoyed relaxing in the sunshine and are now detoxing after so much rum 😊 would love to return

We stayed for 2 weeks in October 2022. While there was plenty of sunshine there were also some rainy days - and it was pretty humid. We've been to Antigua in October previously so knew what to expect - and still had a lovely quiet restful holiday getting away from work and the hassles of Covid.......
