The Royal Hotel Valentia is often celebrated for its inviting atmosphere and spotless cleanliness, with many guests praising the pristine conditions and well-maintained facilities. Its prime location offers stunning harbour views from comfortable rooms, though noise and poor soundproofing have been noted as occasional disturbances. Fantastic hotel offering everything you could want - friendly and helpful staff, tasty food, great atmosphere, wonderful surroundings and all the home comforts you would expect. We had a gorgeous room with a sea view and comfy armchairs, breakfast was delicious, live music and busy bar was most enjoyable. Bríd made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and was so friendly with a wealth of knowledge on fun things to do around the area. We can’t wait to visit again soon!

Just back from a 3 night stay at the Royal Valentia. The room was immaculate and I observed the staff cleaning another room and they went through it thoroughly.
The room was on the ground floor with a bay window overlooking the harbour. It was
very spacious with a table and armchairs, just perfect to relax, take in the view and listen to the drone of the ferry.
The staff are amazing and very welcoming and pleasant, always there to have a chat and enquire about your day.. I felt sorry for them wearing the masks all the time but they did and fair play to you all, adding to the feeling of safety. They are extremely helpfull and accomodating.
Covid restrictions were in place with plenty of hand sanitisers, seating distances without being intrusive.
It is on the edge of the Atlantic and well worth a few nights stay.
The Island has much to offer to the visitor, with the candle Factory, the slate quarry, the lighthouse, the quite harbour and the beautiful scenery among other things. A great central point to explore this part of Kerry with easy access to the mainland by road and ferry which runs every 10 minutes from dawn to dusk.
To Vince and Brid and all the staff, long may you continue and I hope to be back again soon

It was disappointing to see the Ice Cream Dairy Closed and the two pubs.

Thank you for your time and efforts in keeping us all safe in these times of Covid.

Warmest Regards,
Jackie Graham

The Royal Valentia is a historical hotel that has been recently renovated but still maintains it's old world charm. The public areas are spotless with quality carpeting and original hardwood floors. The view from our room was directly out onto the harbour it was really nice. The Full Irish Breakfast was delicious. The menu is a bit limited for evening meals but they were of homemade quality. The wifi is limited to a few public seating areas and in the restaurant bar. Definitely a great location for a relaxing break away.

Had a beautiful last minute family holiday in Valentia Island, Co Kerry. Such a beautiful place and we were blessed with fantastic weather. Enjoyed a trip to Beginish Island with the local water taxi, visited the Gin Distillary in Cahirsiveen and took the kids to see the Stone Forts :) The Royal Valentia hotel is beautifully located overlooking the Atlantic we had a lovely family room with see views, spotless clean comfortable beds and excellent service. We had delicious and sumptuous breakfasts each morning, beautiful walks and exploring to be done, the lighthouse, the quary and a fantastic playground. We had delicious evening meals and drinks, the staff were extremely friendly and could not do more to help - Vincent & Dave even changing my flat tyre on Sunday so we would have a safe journey home 🤗 whilst in the midst of this pandemic and all the changes we have had to endure with it, life has become soo strange - this was a most relaxing, enjoyable break and we could escape those worries for a while and simply just enjoy the beautifully island life, would highly recommend and will defiantly be back !

My wife and I had a 4 night stay in this wonderful hotel and we will definitely be returning.
All Covid-19 precautions were in place and adhered to all over the hotel. The hotel has a 19th century feel to it and the decor, highly polished wooden floors and strategically placed antiques enhance the old world feel. We found the hotel to be spotless and well maintained and the housekeeping to be faultless.
The elegant Brid on reception has to be the hotel's valuable diamond as she made our stay so interesting and enjoyable. Her historical knowledge of the hotel and the area is invaluable and she took time to show us around the hotel of which she is very proud. Dave the maintenance man is a witty and good humoured guy and it was great to chat with him. Alex(?) the barman is efficient and hardworking.
The food is excellent especially the pan seared Hake and also the battered fish and chips. Karen and Anna are two lovely cheerful young ladies and others should follow their example.
We had a most memorable stay in this lovely historic hotel which has a ferry to the mainland on its doorstep. We will be returning in the near future. Well done to all involved and keep up the good work.
p.s. please up the hangers from 4 to 6 or more😀.

Great room facilities, very warm, bathroom. Reception staff and bar staff were very friendly and helpful with any requests. WiFi was excellent. Lots of gluten free options (like the chicken curry) for people with allergies and the restaurant staff were top notch and very accommodating. The food is the best on the island and bar staff were very friendly. Would definitely come back!

We stayed at the Royal Valentia Hotel during an extended weekend trip to the island. We loved the ambiance and the hospitality that we encountered and definitely rate this hotel highly.

The location is brilliant as it is just beside the sea front. The ferry to the mainland is also right opposite the hotel so you are well connected. The interior gives a very strong 19th century look and feel which makes the ambiance very quaint. We especially loved the model ships found in many areas that add a strong maritime feel to the property.

Our room was spacious and well maintained with a great view of the ocean. Food options are very good and its best to pre book all your meals as it gets very busy.

The staff is friendly and happy to make recommendations of nearby attractions and of things to do and places to try. All in all a great place to stay if you're headed to Valentia Island.

My wife and I stayed here a fortnight ago unfortunately for only one night only. From the time we arrived we couldn't have got better service or shown greater hospitality. We have been coming to Valentia Island for more than 20 years and we have always said it is the most beautiful place in Ireland. This hotel always had carachter but was ran down until the present owners bought it, they have upgraded it slowly and carefully keeping all its charm and beauty. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the food is top class. There was lovely live music on the Saturday night we stayed and while it was the beginning of February a very nice crowd were there. There is planning permission for a swimming pool, spa and more bedrooms and I am certain that when these will be constructed they will further enhance this beautiful hotel. We will be back

Spent two nights here recently. Room although dated and a little on the small side was clean. We ate in hotel both nights, the menu did not change at all we were also disappointed with choice of fish dishes given the location. With the exception of one or two all staff need training on customer service.
One guy in particular never spoke a word to us at any time when he waited on our tables. Both nights they appeared to run out of deserts and could only offer ice cream or carrot cake!!!. Once is unfortunate twice is a mistake. At no stage did we see anyone who maybe a Manager and this is what the hotel lacks. The island is beautiful but we wont be back to this hotel.

We stayed in the deluxe sea view room and the view from the bay window was beautiful. The room itself was nicely decorated but the bathroom needed some attention ( shower door and toilet seat both had damaged hinges). The staff were friendly and our dinner in the bar was perfectly fine, hotel fare. Breakfast was disappointing. We expected better than tinned fruit and poor coffee when we were paying 185 euro per night. All in all this hotel is perfectly located on a beautiful island and worth a visit but we felt it was overpriced .
