Pretty basic room but had everything we needed for a beach vacation. Good beach access, the hotel has access to a private beach which was really convenient considering how busy the main beach was. The hotel had a really nice pool and the restaurant was delicious and convenient for dinners. Nice staff. The location of the hotel is a little complex but we found it easy to access using google maps. Would definitely recommend bringing mosquito spray for the evenings, found it difficult to sleep with the mosquitos, even with doors & windows closed.
Hotel Villaggio Calispera must have the best views in Capo Vaticano. The place itself is comfortable if a little basic - but the price is great. There’s quite a good pool, parking, and a bar/restaurant. Very steep steps down to a private beach with umbrellas and chairs is good exercise, especially as the beach itself is not so good for swimming as it’s quite rocky. The pics below show where Calispera is from the main beach - as well as the steps - which are covered, so provide protection from the sun.You can get from there to the main beach with a bit of effort, but we did the steps (about 250 of them and very irregular so for me quite difficult) and drove to the main beach. Breakfast is quite good...
We booked online and were not really sure of what to expect. As most reviews have mentioned the property is not a 5 star resort, but we found the staff try hard to please. The resort caters to mostly the Italian crowds and it can make for an interesting stay. Our room was clean, but basic. It had no air conditioning but the breeze from the sea was usually enough to keep us comfortable. In talking with our friends and family we found out Calabria has had some difficult times and you may wonder where you are heading when driving through the towns leading to Santa Maria. But the beaches nearby are some of the nicest in Italy. Yes you have to walk down to the hotel's beach and it can be tricky getting into the water because of the waves and rocks. But we loved the beach here as it was away from the crowds that you will find in August. Yes the beach guy is a little odd, as he doesn't like anything moved around as mentioned in other posts. Don't move the plastic loungers near the water? But I found the staff to be helpful and the views from our little patio were amazing. Sunsets over the islands offshore were beautiful and being able to cook your own meals and drink your own wine made it better. We only ate at the restaurant once but found the food to be good and price was reasonable. Please be aware that they tend to crank up the music by the pool most of the day and have activities usually go all day long at the pool. So if you are looking for peace and quiet head to the beach as we did. Overall we had a good stay.…
This place is a complete gem and one of the most beautiful places on earth. The view is incredible and the restaurant has the most incredible food local and otherwise. The office was amazing in helping us as we checked in later. She even gave us a choice of two apartments. We love this place and shall return!!!
First was the surprizing tax 10 euros per day for even for kids(my mistake becouse i didn't read word by word)....a beach you need to walk down and up more than 400 steps.., a pool and only two towels in a apartment for six ... four diferent cups if you want a cofee, tea in the room when we arrived the gas for stove was stoped and need to call the maintenance from home at 10p.m. in a six people apartment for shoure two are sleeping on a sofa in the kitchen with the noise of refrigerator...the biggest surprise was that we find one our apart reservation was made for the same dates one month later and they don't want to change the reservation and charge us for both dates and also lied the representant of booking .com that we said we'll use the reservation next month...so if someone wants to stay two nights for free i'll give my reservation for 27-29 of june apart for 6.it is a said, frustrating situation becouse i had same problem when we leaved capo vaticano and stay at RIVA DEL SOLE GIOVINNAZZO where they had full understanding and changed the dates of one room free of charge...but that's a four stars hotel...i called at reception of villaggio calispera and ask for invoice in 2nd of june till today i don't received it...thank you for nothing ELA...YOU MANAGEMENT IS GREAT YOU LOOSE NOT 80 EUROS BUT MORE THAN 20 CLIENTS ONLY FROM OUR SIDE. ASK YOU SELF WHY THEY HAVEN'T MANY PHOTOS OF THE ROOMS..…
