Always a great place to be, it is so nice to be greeted by a smile! We are Yukoners and proud to show off our beautiful territory. We used the campsite this time around peaceful spot on the river. So much to do in a quiet restful place from horseshoes to fishing. We ordered appetizers to take back to our campsite try the baked brie & the crab dip went well with what we had brought, but was so good we ordered pizza to bring them home the next day. One came to Haines Jct & the other two traveled the Alaska Hwy back to Ft. St. John. Thank you again for that perfect place to be!
We loved the 6 Mile Resort. The owner (Doug) owned a Shovelhead 1972 and they were extremely friendly and nice to us. His wife made some of the best Coconut Shrimp I've ever had and after a long day of riding it really hit the spot! While we put the shrimp away, she prepared some homemade burgers with fries. She made her own buns and cooked while we watched! AMAZING! Our room was simple cabin built in 1910 with 'real calendar' from 1898 hanging on the wall. No Cable TV, but we were so tired we crashed immediately after dinner and a cold drink! The bathrooms and showers were very clean and modern (up to date)! We left early next morning, but Doug made a pot of coffee so we could start off on the right foot! Thanks for a great stay! One of our most memorable spots along the road to Alaska!…
We were traveling by motorcycle and did not have a place to stay. Scotty, a dear friend of the owners called Mitch and she was able to reserve us two cabins and even hold supper for us. When we got there, the power had gone out. She and her husband held steady, said,”you all need a beer..” Eventually, the power came back on and our pizzas were served. The food was amazing. Our cabins were quaint and after a rough day, just what we needed. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. A most beautiful way to start our day and continue our adventure.
My brother Greg and I have been on a motorcycle trip for 7 days and rolled into Tagish looking for a camp site. Oh did we get sooo much more the amount a place to sleep. Doug, Mitch and of course Mary ;) What a great place to sit and appreciate people for who they are salt of the earth great folks. We couldn’t have be made more at home anywhere. Our great thanks to all. Make reservations, we got lucky! Oh and look up at the top of the power pole on the corner of the camp area, you may see a Bald Eagle.
Mitch & Doug opened a cabin just for us a week early. They shared their evening meal with two weary motorcycle riders and we had a wonderful time. You cannot go wrong with this lodge. Beautiful setting.
We had the privilege to spend a night at Six Mile River resort, it was superb. This Resort at the lake was top, food was fresh and good. We get to know Mitch and Doug, who two runs this adorable space. This two wonderful people makes this a place to be and enjoy more. Of our entire vacation this was certainly one of our highlights. Also the advice we received from Doug for the last few days of our vacation was great. All the best and till we meet again. Regards Willy and Rob.
On our way up the Alaska Highway and on our way back south we make our way to Tagish, YT and the Six Mile River Resort. With the anticipation of my coffee or tea on the deck overlooking the Tagish River each morning; a cold beer or delicious Caesar beverage in the afternoon and a scrumptious, wonderfully prepared dinner this place is a travelers dream. The owners Doug and Micheline truly make you feel welcomed and comfortable. In no time you feel as though you have lived in the Yukon for years and all who pass through the Resort are your best friends. The location is perfect for a day trip to Skagway, AK or a quick visit to Carcross or Atlin, YT. This July will mark our fourth visit to Six Mile River Resort and every visit has left us with warm memories and a desire to return soon. It is truly one of a handful of places we have found in our travels that we have such a strong affection for. It is truly a slice of heaven!…
We bicycled from Skagway, USA to Atlin, BC, this summer. After a long day from Tushi Lake, we arrived at the resort just in time for dinner and a shower. Great cabin, and accommodations;delicious food and very friendly hosts. A week later we returned on our way home. Another lovely time with Mitch and Doug. We left behind very important medical supplies. Mitch found us 25 miles down the road, and returned our supplies. Not only a great host but a wonderful human being to find us and return our forgotten item.
We stopped in for one night and stayed for three. Great hosts who create a home atmosphere. The washrooms/showers are beautiful - the best we saw on our vacation. The river side deck has a lovely view and we watched the eagles feeding alomg the shore. We caught a 20 pound Lake Trout which Doug helped to clean and filet. The amazing restaurant menu has so many great items and draws people from Whitehorse who are looking for a delicious meal!
Lovely, quiet RV park on the River and great jumping off point for side trips to Southern Lakes and Skagway. Fantastic restaurant — We had to stay extra day to try different dishes on the menu. Owners very helpful and nice — we plan on coming back soon!
