We stayed in Beachfront Bure 16 with a 6 month old baby. Definitely worth the upgrade to beachfront. We spent a lot of time in the room to be close for naps etc and it was enough to sit on the verandah, swing seat or even on the bed in the room and watch the tides roll in & out. Even in the rain. Of course there are also lots of beautiful spots to park yourself near the bar too! This resort is absolutely perfect for babies! The lovely ladies were happy to take her for walks around the resort while I relaxed by the pool, as she was a bit young for the kids club. There were high chairs and cots available, although we brought our own cot.

The ocean was so close to our verandah that it was a short walk to go for a dip. Bure 11 looked a bit more sheltered though as we had quite a bit of wind & rain. The open-air shower was amazing, I showered with the baby in the rain and she loved it! The rooms are a perfect mix between modern comfort and traditional Fijian style. We had aircon that we didn’t use as the ceiling fan and breeze were enough. There’s a little nook at the rear of the room that was perfect to place the baby cot as it was nice and dark. It was lovely falling asleep to the sound of waves and the baby slept through every night so she must have been relaxed!

The food was amazing. The A La Carte menu was practically degustation-level and the curries were amazing. The cocktails were generous (especially with the alcohol!) and smoothies were also great. Breakfast options were varied and the service was always with a smile!

Ella who manages the resort was friendly but professional. We also used the babysitting service while we had dinner every night, it made for a peaceful meal which is rare with such a young baby! The lovely ladies would often pick up Ellie, shower her with kisses and take her away for a while, for some mums this might be a bit confronting but for me & Ellie it was a fantastic break from each other haha! The kids club is great, heaps of pool toys to play with and a little hut full of stuff to amuse the kids.

I had a foot massage at the spa which was lovely. The spa is very luxurious but also casual, I’m sure you could walk in if you wanted to but I booked.

And finally, I wouldn’t keep coming back to Fiji if it weren’t for the people. The Octopus resort staff were happy to accomodate our every need with a smile! I’ve never felt so comfortable breastfeeding in a public place, everyone was so baby-friendly, it really was refreshing. I’ll definitely be back here again when she’s a little older and can play in the kids club and swim all day! Vinaka Octopus for an amazing stay!

Had a great time from the moment we arrived. Our second resort in the Yasawa’s and by far the best. Great staff, couldn’t do enough for us, magnificent management, Ella, Mike and Mereisi, were so amazing and helpful. Present but not stifling and really love to give the guests the best experience. Ella was a wonder, my wife and I had some lovely chats and the love she has for her job and staff is heartwarming to see. They call her Mama Ella which is quite fitting as she is everyone’s mama, she lives the staff and hugs each one every morning. She was even my mama after I hurt my ankle on some coral and got a cut, looked after me and medicated it at 6am. Note to others, make sure you don’t go for a snorkel when the signs are out saying not to, duh to me. Mereisi is the other manager and truly a nice person. Food allergies were sorted all due to her. Tim and Tom at Coconut bar are such characters. Uncle Tom with his cheeky dance and Tim with that killer smile, an amazing team. Happy hour was always fun there. Drinks are pricey but nothing you wouldn’t expect at any other resort anywhere, at least the selection is varied. Food was really, really good and my wife who is vegan, had no problem and attention to detail was great. Can’t leave this without thanking Rauga and Sandria from housekeeping, lovely, lovely ladies and really professional. We stayed in a beachfront and it was spectacular. So that’s it from us, a great place, really magical and we will book for next year.

We had a great stay here, the dormitories are very clean and you have a great amount of space since there are no bunk beds. The food is brilliant and the pool/beach area is great with many different places to lounge. The daily activities were also fun and of great variety. Wame, the food and beverage manager, was so attentive and such a personable, likeable man. The barmen at the coconut bar also made our stay, they were very welcoming and keen to help out!

My friend and I had one goal - a relaxing holiday by the beach, fuss and drama free, which is exactly what Octopus resort provided. You can choose to participate in a variety of activities (yoga, snorkeling, village visits etc) throughout the day or you can choose to do absolutely nothing and relax on the beach! We had the best NYE party on the island – no cues at the bar, no stress on how to get back home, just a great night dancing in the balmy summer night welcoming the new year directly underneath the fireworks! The best thing on the island is the wonderful staff that welcomed us with their big smiles and hearts. Special thanks to the manager Ella who made us feel right at home and really looked after us with her warm hospitality. Ella was prompt with her response to communications (especially in light of the cyclone warnings leading up to our trip), she was approachable, easy going whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism. Thanks again for all your hospitality Octopus resort, we shall see you again soon!

Octopus is a good, dependable resort. The food presentation is excellent, the beds are very comfortable and the beach front bures are roomy and well optioned. The day beds, hammocks etc that are personalised for beach front bures certainly enhance the experience. The house reef is over 1 km long and has lots of interesting drop offs and cracks, but very little coral. Occasional spots of colour and reasonable fish life makes the snorkelling experience a little disappointing. The bay itself is great to swim in but can get occasional waves and disrupted visibility.
The resort offers snorkelling trips to more attractive sites around the island for F$45. They also charge F$115 if you want to snorkel with the Manta rays, but be aware that the manta rays do not always turn up, and if the Resort cant find at least 4 people willing to spend $115, they will cancel the trip. Its disappointing to see them put excessive corporate profits above the enjoyment of guests, especially given the pittance they pay their staff.
Their staff are very welcoming and try hard to impress, but it is clear that covid has diminished their staffing. Many were being trained as Fiji makes its return to international visitors. The food was mostly decent, but the menu lacked options. Also be aware that whilst they do offer free filtered water, it may not agree with you and the only other option is to buy their bottled water. They sell it for F$9 per bottle. The same brand is sold in Nadi for <1$, so consider bringing a few bottles to avoid the rip-off.
They do offer their own boat transfer, which is a much better option than the over-priced Yasawa flyer from Denarau.

Spent 2 nights here in their Garden Bura which comfortably fit 3 adults. The resort is beautiful and well built. I was a bit nervous about going to a remote island for 2 whole days as I prefer active holidays, but Octopus Resort is perfect for groups where people have varying preferences in how active they want to be. Plenty of beachfront chairs and hammocks for those who want to relax with a book and a drink, and plenty of planned activities throughout the day for those who want something more engaging. I spent most of my time in the water snorkelling and using their free stand up paddleboard. There is a coral reef right off the beach with a surprisingly high level of biodiversity! The resort also offers a morning sunrise hike (caution that this is a proper hike, not a casual stroll!), visits to the local village, jewelry making classes, a quiz night, manta ray snorkeling (a must!), and volleyball competitions.

Key amenities: volleyball court, swimming pool, water sports equipment (snorkel, kayak, paddleboards), beach access with comfortable chairs and hammocks, nightly kava ceremony and live music (beautiful singing!), kids club

Food and Drink: you have to get a meal plan since you're on a remote island, however the food situation was fantastic, even for vegetarians. The menu changes daily as well so you won't get bored even on a longer stay. There are also 2 bars at the resort with decent cocktails.

Things to note:
* the wifi is sporadic and we didn't have any signal in our room; this ended up working out quite well for me and allowed me to detach from my phone a bit, however the others in my group did find it frustrating. Signal is decent in the restaurant and poolside.
* their daily activities schedule did change between when we booked and our actual visit which was frustrating as we had planned around the manta ray snorkelling; thankfully we were able to adjust and still made it, but for anyone planning around a specific activity I would reach out to the resort and confirm the schedule beforehand
* some staff at the resort aren't as familiar with the activities schedule as others so when in doubt, ask a couple. We were keen to do the jewelry making but when we asked a staff member where the event was he said it was cancelled, so we went swimming instead, only to come back 20 minutes later to see the activity being held!
* bring an eye mask and ear plugs if you're a light and early sleeper (9-10), no issues after 10pm. Also note that there is no AC or fan in the room

Overall would highly recommend. Staff was highly responsive over email and travel to and from was a breeze. Many guests were coming back for their 2nd, 3rd, even 26th stay which should tell you how consistently good this resort is.

What an amazing place! We spent 6 days here, staying in a Point Villa, looking straight out to the beautiful turquoise tropical sea. The snorkelling straight off the beach was spectacular; fish, coral, turtles, squid and more. Night snorkelling was divine! The staff, who mostly live on Waya Island itself, were beyond helpful and friendly. We truly felt at home. We ate the most excellent quality meals, freshly prepared, Fiji style cuisine, overlooking the gorgeous sea/sunset or the palm fringed pool depending on our mood. We also went fishing twice and the chef prepared our catch specially for us. Wow! A visit to the village to see where the locals live and learn was great too. The Octopus is a wonderful place and we can't recommend it highly enough. Bula!

I have loved staying at Octopus resort for the past 2 weeks. As a solo traveller, I have felt very welcome and my trip has been a perfect balance between social and relaxing. The daily activity schedule ensures that there is always something to do, but reading a book on the day beds by the beach is always a good past time too.

As a diver, the unlimited dive package represents excellent value for money. Throughout the two weeks , I've seen manta rays, sharks, sting rays, turtles as well as nudibranchs, lots of shrimps and fish.

The mostly a la carte menu is fantastic and includes a huge range of options and lots of fresh fish. The staff a especially welcoming and friendly. Special shout out to Jodie, Cookie, Ben, Drilli and Esava in the dive shop for their experience and professionalism. Also thanks to Jim, Jeff and Tiffany and also to Tim in the bar for being very welcoming and friendly.

As a return visitor, I was not disappointed and look forward to another visit soon.

We spent 12 glorious days at this beautiful resort. We were greeted by the staff upon arrival sinnging Bula. Our beachfront bure #16 was comfortable with breathtaking views. Dinner each evening was deliciously prepared by Chef Kara and the wait staff was awesome. Wema, Tim, Mere, Thomas and Mereroni were welcoming and gracious and made each meal pleasurable. The beach is inviting and the water is warm and a beautiful blue turquoise. Also suggest you take part in the church visit, the choir is awesome and Mr. Tom will make you feel welcome. I hated to leave, it was hard to say goodbye to my new family.

Whilst the location is beautiful and overall we enjoyed the stay, we did not love this place as much as the others we stayed at mainly due to the lack of friendliness and poor overall service from the office and cleaning staff. The staff at bar and restaurant however were great! Overall, it was our least favorite place to stay in on this trip.

Details:
Our room wasn‘t cleaned throughout the stay even after asking multiple times but then on the day we checked out the cleaning team firstly left their equipment on our doorstep from the early morning onwards and kept hanging around in front of our bungalow whilst we were packing (on time!) making us feel like we had to rush, rather uncomfortable. We were told we could use the facilities until departure a few hours later but they couldn‘t ‚find any beach towels for us‘….

Food was very nice though as well as cocktails and drinks selection.

We also booked in a massage which was amazing and can highly recommend!

The pool area is nicely done but not enough spaces with shade including the sun loungers on the beach itself, which made it a bit stressful in the mornings to get a seat.

The resort boat will be met by a smaller boat to transfer you and your luggage to the shore/resort. You climb out of one boat into the other. Please note there is a wet landing at the shore. We have not taken the resort boat personally, but observed this many a time. We have always travelled on the Yasawa Flyer a very large boat for transfers to the resorts. Are you sure you want to take the resort boat? I do not think it would be a smooth ride.

No We come back on Aftershock last week. When it hits rough water it certainly bounces around a bit and you need all your hands to hold on. There are no safety belts. No I would not take small children on Aftershock.

Bula at present we are closed due to the Corona virus. But the best accommodation type for your family would be a Beachfront Bure or a Premium Garden Bure or a Point accommodation. These all have one bedroom and can accommodate one queen bed and 2 single beds. If you want more room you can have a 2 bedroom villa that is attached with an interconnecting door. Do please email us on our website and push the book button. Thank you and stay safe.

Bula and happy to help. As you are getting in to Nadi at 17.25pm you will need to spend one night in Nadi as their are no transfers to the island in the afternoon. The best way to book transfers is to please go to our website and click on the contact us link. We look forward to welcoming you to Octopus Resort🌺
