Family run guesthouse for a good nights rest and a hearty dinner. We are in Snæfellsnes penninsula, perfectly located to use as a starting point to travel around and visit all the must-sees in the area. Our emphasis is on giving our guests a homey stay with us with friendly staff, good food and a cozy atmosphere. We are surrounded by beautiful nature, with the glacier just outside our window. A powerful beach is in a walking distance and the area fills up with birds in the summer. The perfect place to have a relaxing stay.

At my last night of my ring road trip, I stayed at this wonderful hotel at the Snæfellsnes penninsula, and the experience was largely delightful. The highlight was the sumptuous buffet dinner, offering a variety of delicious dishes and stunning views of the surrounding grasslands. Dining with such a picturesque backdrop was truly memorable.
The service at the hotel was exceptional. The receptionist went out of his way to assist me, even guiding me to a nearby parking lot so I wouldn’t have to walk far with my bags. Every staff member I encountered greeted me with warm smiles, which made me feel welcome and valued throughout my stay.
However, I did face one disappointment: the bathroom was quite tiny. I could barely turn around, and the water from the shower tended to spill out, making it less than ideal. Despite this, the overall experience was still very positive.
The hotel’s location is another advantage, situated just 5-10 minutes from Sea Lion Beach, where I was lucky enough to spot some sea lions during my visit.
In summary, while the bathroom could use some improvement, my stay was very satisfying. The combination of great food, caring service, and a beautiful setting made it a memorable getaway in Iceland’s stunning Western Fjords.

Peeling red paint can be seen on all exterior wood. However, the interior appears well maintained.
The bed provided enough cushioning and support for my bad back. Despite showing 50C on the faucet handle, the shower only provided warm water, a common trait I have found in many of the island’s hotels. The shower curtain also enclosed the bathroom sink, resulting in water being tracked throughout the room after bathing. I had to lay a cloth bathmat down to prevent this.
Breakfast buffet included delicious crepe-like Iceland pancakes (pönnukökur), the first hotel I have encountered which offered them. Extensive buffet dinner - many tasty dishes satisfying a variety of pallets.

Clean, friendly - ideal place to stay during a visit to beautiful Snæfellsnes Peninsula! This place has a very family-run touch that makes you feel comfortable. The dinner option offered for ISK7500 seems pricy when you reduce it to math and calories, but the huge variety of buffet-style, home cooked food offered made this well worth it in my book.

This is a charming traditional Icelandic hotel, but the owner does not like tourists and makes it apparent. The staff (mostly exchange workers) are not very warm either. We try and be respectful and polite tourists, but it doesn't seem to matter. We've stayed at hotels all across Iceland for years, and this hotel has by far the coldest welcome and treatment of guests. I see how the owner treats Icelanders, however and it's much nicer. With that said, the new rooms are decent and the buffet is very good. The dishes and silverware are not very clean, though. We will probably stay at one of the other hotels in the future... if anything a hotel shouldn't make you feel unwelcome and this place screams "go away".

Driving up was depressing. It looked rather like a 50’s era motel in some deserted town, but with lots of cars parked out front. The rooms were large. The radiator was maybe 18” wide. No closet, just a rod. A squeegee on a long handle helped dry the bathroom floor (“wet room” design, very common but most seem to have more absorbent tile). I was traveling with 2 friends, we agreed to meet in the restaurant at 7. First one there had a story - she had sat at a table set for 3 and the young man who had checked us in told her it was reserved. She said she thought it was for us, he said no and said she could wait in the lounge. There was nobody else there and nobody ever sat at that table. My lamb was good. As expensive as 4**** hotels though. One friend’s fish was ok. But the fish pie - let’s just say that the words used to describe it included “tasteless,” “too much cheese,” and “reconstituted dried mashed potatoes.” We ate at Budir the next night. Iceland is very expensive, but this place is the only one on a two week trip that made me feel cheated and angry at paying the bill.

Hi carlye p, thank you for the feedback. Our hotel sure is located in open area, far away from all traffic and other stimuli. That creates very calm environment, for many of our guests and ourselves, that is the beauty of it. Sorry to hear your experience of your stay. Iceland is quite expensive, believe me I wish it was not, but our prices are just average in comparison with other restaurants - and we make quite big portions so our guests get enough food for the value of the money. Sorry that you felt cheated and angry to pay the bill, we wish your experience of our restaurant would have been better, the traditional fish stew is apparently not for everyone. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your travelling in Iceland. Best regards, Perla Team Langaholt

The structure is located near the Ytri-Tunga beach where a colony of seals is resident. The room available to us was in the older part. Very helpful staff. Comfortable beds and a very large window with a view towards Sneffels, the partly snow-capped volcano, which in Jules Verne's imagination led to the center of the earth. Tea and hot chocolate are available to guests 24 hours a day. Adjoining restaurant which, however, I have not tried. Good breakfast. The bathroom is showing some signs of its age and the radiator had a broken temperature regulator.

The Langaholt Guesthouse was really easy to find, and there was plenty of car parking space outside. We received a lovely welcome from the gentleman who was on reception. Our ensuite twin/double room had amazing views over the golf course and out to sea. The room was simple but perfect for our needs. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant (see separate review for the restaurant) included in our booking. Breakfast was fantastic, with lots of homemade bread, jams and peanut butters. The real highlights were the marinated halibut, smoked plaice pate, and cured plaice with dill sauce; a real taste of Iceland. If you are after a five star hotel then this is not the place for you but having said that, it is not trying to be. It does what it sets out to do very well.

Langaholt is a family-owned guesthouse and it has a genuine family feel with exceptional service for a small operation. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style daily, and the food is excellent. Our teenage kids can be picky eaters at times, but even they enjoyed all of the authentic homemade food. We visited in winter so we did not explore the immediate area, but the property is located directly on the ocean, so it is probably a great place to stroll on the beach in the summer. The rooms are very basic, as advertised, but comfortable and quiet. The only issue we had was that the bathroom was very small and cramped, but we had four people in a room, so that is on us to some degree.

Dear TGS1969, thank you for the feedback! We appreciate your kind words and compliments on our service and the food. Wonderful that your picky eaters were able to enjoy the food too. Sorry to hear your experience of the bathroom being too small for your family. For detailed information of sizes of the rooms, our website declares it accurately. We would be happy to welcome you back in other season than winter, so you can enjoy a stroll on the beach like you mentioned :-) Thank you for the stay! Best regards, Perla Team Langaholt

We received a very friendly welcome and check-in was done immediately. They accompanied us all the way to our room. It turned out that it wasn't ready yet, but that was sorted out in no time. All the staff were very friendly. The room is basic but nothing was missing. Beds were good, there was a shower, WiFi, beautiful view, ... Only the room was a bit cold, but there was a small heater for that. Too bad they hung it behind the curtain. We only used them with the curtain open as we did not find it safe otherwise. Could be, but safety first. We have no complaints about breakfast and dinner. Both were buffet style and all I can say is that everything we ate tasted delicious and there was more than enough food provided. Check-out after 2 days was also arranged in no time.

We stayed in a suite with spectacular views of the ocean and glacier. The room was spotlessly clean, warm and inviting. Heated towel rail in the bathroom a nice touch. The owner was gracious and helpful. There's a constant supply of complimentary hot drinks in the dining area. Dinner was tasty, fish of the day a little pricey we thought...but that's my only complaint. Breakfast buffet was the best we had during our stay in Iceland. Previous reviews complaining about things such as the toaster taking too long (seriously?!) and other guests being noisy - that is the case with any hotel and hardly warrants a mention. Read the room descriptions, they clearly state the difference between basic, standard and comfort and of course you get what you pay for. Overall, this place is a gem and I highly recommend staying here.

Hi,
it is impossible to tell where on the sky the Aurora Borealis will be this day. But in fact, it's enough to walk out of the house and look to the sky.
You can use this website en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/aurora/ to see the possibilites on Aurora when you get to Iceland.
Hopefully you will see the Aurora during your stay in Iceland!
Have a good day,
Auður G.
