Location of this hotel is amazing half an hour away from beautiful town of Merano. The scenery is amazing. Bikes are on site and a beautiful long cycling trek right outside of this hotel.
English is not the main language at this area but everybody try their best to help specially the staff at this hotel . silvia the girl that works in the hotel offered to give us a ride to Andreus hotel when the taxi took long time to arrive.
The other people at the reception were amazing too. Since none of the flyer or activities were in English we needed help!
The other two sister hotels are not walking distance , there are no shops near the hotel but there are so much to do that shops would be last place I would go.
The river is very close to the hotel and you can walk or cycle right next to it.

It is already 8 years we come here, and this time we decided to stay for 12 days,
We have been ver happy to see the new upgrade of the last part of the hotel, where Sauna, relaxing zone and new rooms have been built.
The new rooms are more a 5* hotels.
But we have been in the eldest ones. that are more closed to a 3*.
The toilet forniture are very old need a renewal. Definitely.
Could it be that a 4* hotel doens' have A/C in the room?

I felt a good improvment with the food.
The rooms are always clean well and fast.

We found many new youg people in the staff.
Let me say, reluctanctly, that some of the staff was unfriendly staff urgently needs training.
Beside any political thing, I also would love to understand why the level of Italian (I mean speaked) in the staff is so bad. It is a turistic place. I am not complaining theat everybody speak german, I complain that almost no one speak italian...

Response from Daniel Fink, Inhaber at Sport & Wellnesshotel Sonnenalm
Responded Oct 12, 2020
Dear Madam or sir, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We are always very pleased when regular guests come to us every year. We are also pleased that you have enjoyed the new Wellness House with its new wellness area and the new suites at the Hotel Sonnenalm. Some rooms in the main house were also renovated a few years ago - unfortunately, the cheaper categories were not. Unfortunately, these rooms also do not have A/C. We are sorry that you did not like the room. For your next stay we kindly ask you to contact us at the reception to find a solution at the beginning of your stay so that you can enjoy your stay to the fullest. In South Tyrol, since our mother tongue is German, it may be that not everyone speaks Italian very well, but they always try their best. We are sorry that you did not feel comfortable, because our employees do not speak perfect Italian. Nevertheless, we hope to welcome you again soon at the Andreus Resorts!

Very nice hotel with lots of sport and good cuisine with a very fair price/performance ratio. And the best thing of all: the sports and spa areas of the parent hotel Andreus (= training hotel of the German national team) can be used.

In summary: I had a brilliant week full of sport (gym, tennis, hiking and racing bike) with the reward of an evening 5-course meal.

Sonnenalm

My absolutely negative review is dictated by bad communication, resulting in disillusioned expectations
The request is made at the Hotel Andreus among the proposals we option a room located in the Sonnenalm.
I'm calling for clarification:
The operator explains to me that the property includes three hotels close to each other, we can freely use both the spa and the restaurants.
Upon arrival I discover that the sonnelam is a 10 minute drive from the others and two,
there is no connecting shuttle and in the restaurants there is a supplement to add.
Il sonnellam is a partially renovated hotel, the rooms are dated as are the bathrooms, the pillows are very uncomfortable.
The restaurant is informal, one area is old-fashioned, another is a recently renovated extension.
The cuisine is sufficient, the desserts mediocre and the choice of plate on which the first course is served is uncomfortable and small.
The distance between the facilities made my stay anything but relaxing, to the point of pushing me to have a day spa at theQuellenhof Luxury Resort (350m away, about 4 minutes on foot).
The spa is new on several floors, we didn't use it because honestly, for the money paid, I prefer better quality.

We arrived before 3pm, they still gave us the room earlier, with a surprise upgrade, Diamond room! Welcome drink..... Beautiful smile Laura!
Although the meals are not cooked on site, but only heated and plated, I did not experience any inconveniences. Beware of lactose intolerance (thank you!)
Always a lot of choice of vegetables and desserts, perhaps cakes are missing in the morning. But lots of availability, fresh fruit, to make express juice or extracts. Young waiters have some problems with Italian, but always very kind...
It's the 3rd time we've been back, I found the wellness center renovated, fantastic pool, yoga session with Luis...I love this place, I always happily come back!!

Ciao Ilaria, l'hotel è comodo e ricco di servizi ma prenotando qui hai libero accesso all'Andreus che dista meno di 5 minuti in auto. Grazie a questo benefit, quasi tutti si spostano durante il giorno all'Andreus.
